Sounds like a paid vacation, gives d&c something to rail against next week and keep ratings up for a couple weeks.

Well, as big of a turd Minihane is (and I've never liked him), he is 100% right about Olbermann.

Driving somewhere most likely
Not to get all conspiracy theory here, but they (DCM) might already have their extension (I don't work in the industry, but just a WAG), knew that NESN was dropping them, so they decide to be "controversial" to draw attention to themselves. Using the old adage "Any publicity is good publicity", it's definitely got them that.
Again no source or knowledge of that, just a what if.
As to their show and content, as others have said better, it's "Get off my lawn" angry old white man radio, and that demographic is trending downward.

That Olberman roots for the Yankees is indeed unfortunate, but it has nothing to do with the fact that his calling out Minihane is absurdly hypocritical in light of some of the comments he's made.

I'm guessing your beef with Olbermann is that he roots for different laundry from you.

Me?  I have no idea who he roots for.  I just know that he's made some of the worst comments about other people, and for him to criticize another person for that is the ultimate in hypocrisy.  I have zero respect for Olbermann.

PS - I know several people personally who have worked with him.  He is, according to every single one of these people, just as big a douche in person as he appears to be on TV.

Yank or Sox fan, Repub or Dem, it's not hard to see he's a douche or that this is hypocritical. And this is coming from someone who recognizes his talent and has been enjoying bits and pieces of his show of late.

He's as good as gone. "Suspension" is always the first step to firing in these radio things.

As it turns out, Kirk Minihane's week-long suspension from WEEI for comments he made about Fox Sports reporter Erin Andrews will last longer than the network's revocation of advertising from all stations owned by parent company Entercom.

Friday, Fox banned its personalities from appearing on WEEI and pulled all advertising from Entercom's 100-plus stations nationwide in response to the station's initial decision not to punish Minihane.

The network was apparently appeased by WEEI's announcement later Friday -- after the ads were pulled -- that Minihane was suspended. Fox informed Entercom Wednesday afternoon that the advertising, which industry sources have estimated at a little more than $1 million, would be restored.

"We appreciate Entercom's recognition and response to the inappropriate comments made by the WEEI host,'' said Fox Sports senior vice president of media relations Lou D'Ermilio in a statement. "It is our sincere hope both organizations can now move forward."

Entercom Boston vice president and market manager Phil Zachary said, "On our end, we consider the matter 100 percent resolved."

So it was all window dressing right from the start. Just a defensive posture and publicity stunt by FOX to placate their critics (and their own sponsors) to make themselves look like the good guys.

Entercom had to be arm-twisted into doing something about Minihane, and it ended up being a slap on the wrist. Now FOX has given the same slap on the wrist to Entercom. The lost week's revenue for Entercom amounts to less than $20,000.

Just lovely. What a disgrace.

I'm sure Callahan will have some strong choice words towards the legitimacy of Fox and also of Entercom.
And also the Globe.

I'm sure that's what will happen, all three get slaughtered, not just one of three.
Totally sure.

All 3 will be renewed. End of story.
