Of course Mike owns a Lawn Jockey.... such a Long Island thing...
I thought that was Mad Dog Russo.

He appeared on John Jastremski’s podcast. Declared that he will not attend sporting events until all restrictions are removed. Compared watching games with limited fans, who are wearing face masks, to visiting a morgue.

In my head, I’m hearing how he must have pronounced ‘morgue’, and I’m wincing in pain.

Damn. Forgot how much I missed Francesa, but more importantly all of the great internet content he inadvertently inspired.

Noah trying to steal Elon’s reply
Noah definitely doesn't have the strongest case here. He hasn't pitched in two years. But it's also not fair to say he ran away. He got a very good offer from the Angels considering he hasn't had an exceptional season in years. And he's only had 66 starts in the last 4 seasons. And his last full season in 2019 was an ERA plus of 96.

I think the Angels made a mistake with the signing. But it's only for one year. Noah got lucky with his contract.

Leaving in a bit to the studio :)
I hope that this blurb is real:
  • Mike Francesa is ready to broadcast once again. But this time, he’ll be sharing his hard hitting opinions on a different platform, and in a brand new role.
Barrett Sports Media has learned that the former WFAN afternoon drive time host has agreed to a multi-year deal with Rush Street Interactive to become a brand ambassador for BetRivers Sportsbook. As part of the new relationship with BetRivers, Francesa will host a new bi-weekly podcast titled The Mike Francesa Podcast.

Mike seems noticeably older and slower, and he’s still holding to his idiotic take that Montana was the better “Super Bowl quarterback “ than Brady. But it’s always amusing to see him and Russo together. Even if you have to endure SAS in the middle of it. I will officially go back to ignoring any/all ESPN morning shows again after today.

Mike also prefers Peyton Manning in the regular season. Mike also tried to pump up Eli Manning.
Dog: "We don't fight as much as we used to."
Mike and Dog agreed that when they weren't speaking for months that Mike's wife Rose invited Chris to the wedding without telling Mike and that got them back together. Otherwise the show was going to be over.

When I was growing up in the 90's, my dad and uncles would always talk about how in the 80's the Super Bowls were mostly non-competitive. Sounds like the AFC was not at the same level as the NFC. How can a guy like Mike not even take that into consideration? I really do think that the Brady-Belichick Patriots ruined peoples brains.

When Brady had the weapons Peyton had his whole career he produced at the exact same level. Manning got at least two bullshit MVPs too (Brady has received more overall MVP votes, in fact). But this (alongside the "winning 4 without losing is betah" Montana stuff) is a take Mike has had forever, so no reason to expect that to change now. But Brady had a very strong GOAT argument in 2015, at the age of 38, to say he's just the guy who played the longest is insultingly stupid.

Sadly (since I used to lover their show), Mike has been in the "old many yells at cloud" stage of his sports knowledge for at least a decade now.

Montana won two MVPs and was in the top 5 in MVP voting 5 times. He made it to 4 Super Bowls (winning them all), and went 5-2 in his 7 conference championship games. He took two separate teams to the conference championship game.

Brady won three MVPs and was in the top 5 in MVP voting 10 times. He made it to 10 Super Bowls (winning 7 of them), and went 10-4 in his 14(!) conference championship games. He won Super Bowls with two separate teams.

Montana retired at age 38. Here's what Tom Brady accomplished after his age 38 season:

1 MVP
3 top 2 in MVP voting
2,800-4,258 (65.8%), 31,186 yds, 221 td, 62 int, 98.6 rating
4 conference championships
3 Super Bowl titles
2 Super Bowl MVPs

Brady had Montana's career (better actually) by the time he reached the same age Montana was when he retired. And then he added another Hall of Fame career on top of that.

Montana is obviously an inner circle all time great. But he's no Tom Brady. Francesa can suck it.

Interesting how Francesa considers counting stats so relevant in MLB HOF voting, but considers counting stats a negative in Brady's case.

And of course Francesa's contention that losing in a SB is a much worse black mark than is losing in an early round and not even making it to the SB that year (hence not a SB loss).

Who is anyone taking anything that Mike Francesa says seriously? He’s been a complete hack for almost two decades.

Michael Kay is a thoughtful, introspective journalist compared to Francesa.

None of this also touches on the fact that Brady played in the salary cap era and didn’t have the stacked teams Montana did.

since you probably have it up.. what were their playoff records?

Wow, just noticed I started this thread 15 years ago. Mike if anything, is someone that draws eyeballs and earballs. Heres to the next 15.

Earlier this week Francesa was at Barstool. Did a Youtube show w/ KFC and Frank the Tank where they ripped the Mets. Looked and sounded great!
