The Yankees can stop looking for their new manager.
He gets my vote.

"Do I think I could manage the Yankees? Sure. Do I think I will get a chance to manage the Yankees? I would love to try, but they wouldn't let me," said Francesa. "I definitely could, but they are not going to let me because they are going to hire someone who has spent 20 years or 15 years playing the game, or spent that time as a manager. I understand that."

The Yankees are no fun.

Mike is yelling about Eli getting benched. Screaming and yelling. His love of Eli is pretty amazing.

It was an all-timer. Now the fans are absolutely killing McAdoo, Reese and the organization. I have always found Giants fans, Mike especially, to be delusional when it comes to Eli. That doesn't make anything the fat man is saying wrong. Benching Eli for Geno Smith is indefensible.

Overall, a fair critique and epic rant. His account of Eli taking all this without complaint and without throwing anyone under the bus is correct. He gives Eli too much credit for those SB wins, but he’s right that without them this franchise doesn’t have much to talk about and a lot of important people there are without jobs. And note that he called Eli a “borderline” HOF’er, which is more of a concession than I expected.

This, I think was an ownership hit, and I believe Mike shares that view. He did not spare Mara.

Mike saying that on the Monday show he was going to do 12 minutes with Eli and then have Geno come in while Davis Webb was invited but had to wait in the hallway killed me. This was after the main rant in response to a caller asking him who he would interview Monday.

Nice rant, except for the fact that McAdoo never said that Smith gives them a better chance to win:

Q: With that being said, how do you look at the locker room and your team and say that Geno Smith gives you a better chance to win than Eli Manning?
A: We’re confident that we can put a plan together to put Geno in a position to be successful and go win the game.

Francesa has backed away from his unqualified"Eli is a HoFer" over the past year. Its hard for Francesa to ignore the Giants with Eli under center have compiled a losing record for the last 6 years. (even excluding this years 2-9) .

You know, like the general manager of a baseball team or something.

Mike just contradicted anything he's ever said about the Patriots. A caller asked his opinion on the Patriots' dynasty and he ended the thought with saying just getting to 7 Super Bowls is an incredible achievement. He's only ever said that in the Montana/Brady argument that Montana being undefeated in SB's is better than getting to more and losing any.

He was on Good Morning Football this morning, I caught the last few minutes. They were asking him about planned celebrations, and he said he'd bench players who did something like that. Someone else said "like Belichick", then someone else said "what about the Steelers, they have great celebrations", to which FFF responded along "beat the Patriots for once ever instead of planning celebrations"

I listened to him about a couple of weeks ago. It was during the Giants nonsense, before the firings. He segued to the on field celebrations, which he hates with a passion. He said something like this:

“There is one team that is not allowed to talk about the celebrations. All they do is win. They don’t beat themselves, and they do everything the right way.”

Something is up. Maybe legacy preservation. Maybe this is how he really felt all along but needed the read meat. Maybe some of both.

I don't think its a change of heart but more that he's hedging his long time contarian view on Brady as GOAT and the Pats as a dynasty as the possibility of a 6th SB is not that far-fetched. At some point a reasonable person adjusts their opinion for reality.

What the hell is going on?

Would you be like Bill Parcells?
A: No, I’d be more like [Bill] Belichick. I’d be more worried about the game plan. Parcells was more worried about motivating the guys than anything else. I think the formulation of the game plans would be so fascinating, to try and out-think the other team, the way Bill Walsh did. Bill [Parcells] didn’t try and outsmart you, Bill tried to get his guys to where they could physically beat your rear end. He could motivate waiters. … He could motivate anybody to do anything.

It's kind of depressing to be honest. He was the source of so much funny and to his credit doing 5 1/2 hours of radio by himself is a hell of a task.
The replacement lineup looks terrible :/ Bart Scott breaking down hockey, baseball, or basketball? ok

Let's hope the Pope emerges somewhere soon, we love, no... we need, his outrage.

The new show will be a complete disaster. Not because they are following Mike and suffering in comparison - they would be a disaster all on their own in a different time slot on a different station.

For all the shit he takes here, for his pomposity, and his partisan takes on certain subjects which irked me, he was generally a smart and articulate voice on a lot of sports topics. And his memory for events was astounding. IMO there is no one now in either NYC or Boston who is close to what he does/did.

I suspect I'll listen to the new trio out of curiosity and to watch the 3-way car crash, I can't stand Michael Kay, and will probably listen a little more frequently to Felger and his puppet.

I suspect when his non-compete ends in (~90 days?) Francesa will end up on good public platform to monetize his abilities. I just wonder if it will be a 5-day a week gig.

I think he and Simmons on weekly podcast might be fun, at least for a while, as 2 big personalities with some opposite partisan views clash.
