I remember it vividly.

Russo was even stronger in his sentiment.
That is exactly how I remember it. Russo began with something to the effect that Jews in this country needed to take a loyalty oath to America and not Israel, and Francesa was more "totally agree with you" than pushing it on his own, but they both said inappropriate things.

Mike is discussing this story from the Post which Eli Manning knowingly sold fake "game used" memorabilia.

http://nypost.com/2017/04/13/heres-proof-eli-manning-was-in-on-giants-memorabilia-scheme/

Giants quarterback Eli Manning was in on a scheme to sell phony game-worn gear — sending an email asking the team’s equipment manager for “helmets that can pass as game used,” according to blockbuster court papers obtained by The Post.
This has serious entertainment potential.

It really wouldn't take much to get Mike to eat grasshopper. If he happened to skip lunch before heading to safeco for a night game and all they had was the crispy critters, Mike would chow down. Probably go for a second helping if they had mayonnaise.

Deadspin sat down to listen to the missing Sept 12, 2001 show.

Nothing insanely damning other than saying Mushnick and others may have exaggerated in complaints, but they also weren't complaining about just the Sept 12th show so Deadspin can't make a call.

In all, the six-hour show offered its fair share of inane, knee-jerk political takes to pair with its steady flow of war-ready, pro-America rhetoric. It’s a perfect time capsule of an unthinkably terrible time. Listening to it was a swift reminder of just how it was that Toby Keith’s “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue” shot up the Billboard charts. But Mike and the Mad Dog neither called for loyalty tests on 9/12, nor did they question the loyalty of all Jewish-Americans—just of Ellie in Brooklyn.

But did they ever? (We shared our findings with Phil Mushnick, who told us, “What I heard—and it was several days after the attacks—was just Russo and Francesa free-forming.”) We would need to listen to about 40 more hours of Mike and the Mad Dog from the ensuing week to know for sure, and those tapes aren’t held by the Paley Center. If you have those tapes or know where they can be found, please let us know. We would also appreciate if you had a transcript; listening to six hours of Mike and the Mad Dog cosplay as national security commentators was more than enough for one lifetime.

Mike just finished a long, entertaining spot with Simmons. It is clear that, if Mike likes the guest (or is with Dog), he can still be an engaging, good listen. The fact that those instances are so few and far between just makes them stand out even more.

Here's the link for anyone who wants to hear it:

And how did it go?
http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2017/05/15/david-ortiz-steroid-denial/

The interview itself was pretty straightforward with a good dose of Francesa's innuendo about steroids after Papi was off the air. Mike asked Ortiz if he ever did steroids, Ortiz replied "never". Some discussion about the 2003 NYT article that identified Ortiz as someone with a positive test, which Ortiz again disputed. Francesa "suggested" that because Manny was Ortiz's idol and Manny did steroids, then Ortiz probably did them as well.
“Manny’s last name is Ramirez. My one is Ortiz,” he said. “So if Manny go out there and kill somebody, should I be guilty?”
Some of the Bobby V incidents were discussed and a mention of Francona pinch hitting for Papi while Ortiz was at bat and also a little discussion about Ortiz's relationship with Tom Kelly from Ortiz's time with the Twins.
Listening to Tank try to pronounce the book publisher "Houghton Mifflin Harcourt" was worth a good laugh.

I didn't listen to Francesa yesterday, but his Manning argument has been that Peyton is the greatest REGULAR season QB ever.
It doesn't matter that Brady is still playing and his counting stats could approach/surpass Mannings. And he never mentions that for most of his career Manning played in a dome (Brees too) while Brady has played and won in the elements.

Francesa also loves the fact that Manning's teams beat the Pats in 3 of 5 AFCCG. (but interestingly ignores REGULAR season games) but skips the fact in the last one Manning was a corpse dragged or 3 qtrs by his D, and Brady outplayed him, but lost against a great D. (Its my sad lament that if Ghost had not missed the PAT, the Pats would have won that game), or that in the '13 AFCCG while Peyton had a very good game, Brady had about ZERO offensive players, as most of his position players were IRed.

And Francesa never admits he might be wrong, and you can almost see him grmace when Aikman or Warner, or some other NFL QB talking head routinely say the Brady is the GOAT. He never pushes back, except against callers.

Does anyone listen to Fat Mike anymore? I stopped for GOOD after the superbowl, he was SO dishonest about his true motivations, and same as the Seatlle Superbowl, just refused to give the patriots credit, so I clicked him off. Speculation about who will replace him? WFAN will be doing tryouts starting this summer, with combinations of guys in the slot. Evan Roberts, Chris Sims ( Vomit) Crispy Christie ( Vomit) etc. My dark horse, who I think is a GREAT listen? Kim Jones.

I think he's off for about 3 weeks, and WFAN is now holding try-outs, with Evan Roberts (Beningo's sidekick) with and Chris Simms for Francesa's spot.

I'm not a ER fan, he has his biases, and can be a know-it-all at times but he generally knows his stuf (generally) but Simms (Phils kid) is terrible.

I listened for awhile yesterday, and to be fair the chemistry wasn't there, and could develop, but I had to turn it off.

As much as Francesa is a blowhard, he's gonna be missed.

Monzo tweeted a response from Mike saying everything in that article is false. He said they are comfortably ahead of Kay in the latest ratings.
It's not like the ratings are guarded like a state secret. He either lost to Kay or he didn't. Mike or Mushnick is going to look really stupid here. I do wonder what Mushnick will have to write about or Carton will have to talk about without Francesca around. Both of them have their hopelessly tired bash Mike schtick. Guess they will have to come up with something new.

Also, Gov Chris Christie starts his audition for Mike's job on Monday and Tuesday with Evan Roberts.
Anybody listening? I wonder if Mike's usual suspects get through to troll Christie about Beachgate. Could make for some entertaining radio.

UPDATE: sounds like he is off to a "glorious" start.

Hilarious. For those who don't know, Montclair Mike is one of Mike and the Mad Dog's more well known callers and goes way back with the show.

In this area, telling the celebrity callers to go f themselves would most likely reverse that approval rating.

Mike mentioned to Kim and Malusis that he was a latch key kid at age 8 and would take care of his younger brother by himself. Started working at 9. Had a job that would last until 2 AM at 12.

Leaving in a bit to the studio :)
Correct. They are banned. I think they were stealing too many clips.
"the personality himself tweeted it was due to posting a clip of a baseball game on Sunday and getting cited by Major League Baseball, as well as a supposed violation of Twitter’s impersonation policy."
