He doesn't for one instant stop to consider that he's made a career out of people listening to a guy talk about genetic freaks putting a ball where they want it to go?
He's really not in a position to criticize others for how they use their spare time.

FF just did about 40 minutes with John Calipari. These guys know each other pretty well and it shows, it was a pretty good listen. If this gets rebroadcast on FS 1 its worth listening to.

His interviews get posted to his podcasts pretty quickly.

Tank is going to go heavy about the college brackets today. Three coaches (Jay Wright, Will Brown, and Steve Pikiell) and Jon Rothstein from CBS. College bball is not my favorite sport, but I appreciate that he takes a break from football/baseball and actually dives into it.

Caught a bit of his show the other day and he actually had a Celtic fan call in. Guy started saying how they should trade some picks to get Kevin love. Mike raves about the coach and then says the notion that the celts have to get love "because he's white" is 20 years outdated and rips the caller. Then mike adds that celts should keep picks and draft Kaminski, because he'd make a "wonderful Celtic". Huh?

Different kind of white.

I heard the conversation. He didn't explain why Kaminski would be good for Boston . So it's a little unfair to assume he meant white when he just said the days of the Celtics caring about that were long over. He clearly likes him more than most draft experts.

Draft experts are no experts.  They miss on over half the players usually.

If the comments about Love are accurate and he made that assumption based on nothing, then it's not at all unfair.

I don't understand your point. He stated that the old Celtics ownership would have wanted a star white player, but that is no longer the case. I know Mike is prejudiced based of how he reacted to Sean Taylor's murder, but I'm not seeing the big reveal here.

I'm saying that he appears to have instantly assumed that the caller talking about Kevin Love only did so because he was white and then stated that the best player for the Celts was Kaminski.

I have no idea of Mike's motivation but to say that questioning him isn't "fair" after he questioned the racial motives of the caller immediately beforehand doesn't cut it.

Edit:  And to be clear, I didn't hear the exchange, which is why I framed it by saying "If the comments about Love are accurate.."

Yeah, he said those days are over - then Kaminski being a "wonderful Celtic" - but to not explain what he meant, or to even clarify how his opinion that a white player would be perfect differed from the caller's opinion the Celts should trade for Love was a head scratcher.

In discussing the pressure on UK to go 40-0, Mike claimed that the Pats got no grief for not going undefeated. The caller questioned him on that contention and he reiterated his stupidity. Reality truly is a construct in Fatso's world.

Caller: "Anything less than 40-0 for Kentucky is going to be a letdown." It will be seen as a "choke".
Mike: "The Pats didn't get that. The Pats never heard one word about that, but Kentucky will."
Caller : "They heard about it as far as historic..."
Mike: "They didn't get beat up at all. They didn't get beat up at all."

Fatso goes on to talk up the pressure on UK and how no one wants to give them credit. His hate for the Pats and the twisting of reality that he uses to push his agenda is something to behold. I must have imagined the countless times he used losing in the Super Bowl to criticize Belichick and Pats.

He hates the Patriots.  Hates.  If you're going to get upset about anything he says about the Patriots, you're playing right into his hands.

For Mike, the notion that the Pats choked in that Super Bowl would diminish the achievement of the Giants and his BFF, Tom Coughlin.

Mike eulogizing Coach K this morning, talking about his multiple championships as an example of his flexibility, his refusal to only win one way, his willingness to adapt to changing styles and changes in the business, the consistency of the winning... and then compares him to his prominent NFL peer most like that.  Who, you ask?  Why of course: Coughlin.

So he's avoiding the topic everyone wants to hear about? His seats behind home plate yesterday for the Yankee home opener supplied by ARod and Mike and family getting cozy with ARod after the game.

No, he opened his show with his explanation, which sounded totally plausible.  He had been invited by a major, long-time WFAN sponsor to the game to sit with the guy in in the guy's seats.  He said he had no "idear" (sorry, couldn't help myself) who was sitting near him.  He said that plenty of people emailed him links to the story last night and he got a chuckle out of it.  Paraphrasing: "The Post (or any of these outlets) could've asked me and I would've told them what I just told you."

Been listening to Mike for 11 years. He is now at his most venomous, irritable, short tempered, pompous, and annoying.

If I was a betting man I would say he quits within 1-2 years.

It seems like he hates doing this now, totally burnt out, really needed Dog to buffer him a bit.

He has turned into a mean bitter insecure man.

Funny you mention that today.  My wife and I were just having a late lunch at home, and I surfed/stopped on his show on FS1/2.  After 60-90 second, my wife asked why I kept it on, as I often rail about his schtick now.  I pretty much paraphrased many of your points, but I used the phrases "so full of himself", "world's greatest living authority",  "waiting for him to go off the rails", and a few more.

Mike to Gammons just now regarding Kimbrel: "I think they (Padres) just improved by 10 games."

Gammons: "I do, too."

Maybe he meant over the duration of Kimbrel's contract.

Kimbrel's highest single season WAR (per b-ref) = 3.3
Time left on his contract = 3 years + an option
3.3 X 3 years = 9.9 WAR

What do you know? Francesa might be right...assuming the Pads would otherwise get 0 WAR out of any other closer for the next three years.

I think his contract ends in '17, so he maybe he packs it in then. I think his irritation etc. has grown with his Fox Sports situation, maybe compounded by the the general suckage of NY teams over the last couple of years. I think he's a NY sports fan at heart, so I think that colors his demeanor. He's probably about to become a HUGE Rangers fan.

He gets paid a lot of money, and is treated like a god, for talking sports on the radio.  He gets to take his kids to school every day and probably sees them before they go to bed at night.  Seems like a gig you don't give up without a ton of money in the bank.  I'm a little surprised he hasn't asked them to build an ISDN line in his house so he could do the show from home, but with three young kids, maybe he likes having an excuse to leave the house every day.  It's hard to imagine him giving up this gig voluntarily.

Ah...you're giving FF way too much credit.  I'm 95% certain he was simply referring to 2015.  And I highly doubt he knew how much longer Kimbrel's contract had left.  He was just throwing out hyperbole and Gammons didn't challenge it.  Of course, if a caller made a similar claim, Mike the Bully Know-it-All would be all over it and criticize the caller for knowing nothing about the game.

Mike's no fool, nosiree.  He's going to live to be a 103!

It must be fun to be a member of the sports media in a town that has two baseball teams.  Most die hard fans in NY/Chi/Phil/SF-Oak love one team and hate the other.  But radio guys and sports columnists get go with the flow.

Steve Mariucci phone interview today.  A number of times, Mike treated him almost like a common caller:  cutting him off after a few word or shouting over him (esp if Mariucci didnt immediately agree with Tank).  Unlike a common call-in, tho, Mike did not dump him out.
