Opens up by ripping the Jets. Of course. Then says he's been through what Geno is going through, because, obviously, Mike was once a pro QB playing in New York.

Ive been yelled at by fans. I know what Geno's Myth is going through. But sticks and stones, ok. Let it go. Youah dont have rabbit eayahs.

Both times it's happened he finally slips into that doze, jerks back awake, his eyes shoot right open and he glares into the camera and around the room with that "shit who saw that" look on his face. That is fucking comedy.

Must have been up late partying with ARod.

The comedy of him trying to play if off as, 'oh yeah, i was totally awake there, bro.'

It's coming.

He will not want to go near Bengals/Pats. He'll chew up the show by contrasting Giants and Jets.
Also will set up a shrine for the brothers Manning.

I don't know. He likes Eli but he's in love with Andrew Luck

Won't pile on the Jets -- it's *too easy*

But, the worst part is "the giants have dug out of their hole ..."

missing meetings -- "how does QB miss a meeting right before a game?"

"they don't practice right "

pissed because he missed Rex's post-game diue to technical difficulties ... "you lost all the angst"

He IS killing them, even though he said it's too easy

"they dared them all right ... they ran it right down their throat"

"if SD does not call off the dogs yesterday, that game is 45-nothing"

*I don't think you have a QB ... I don't think you'll have a HC ... I've never known whether you have a GM."

"In other words, the Jets, as always, are a mess ..."

I don't listen to him regularly, but I have a friend who listens to him who delights in recounting how dated Mike's references are.  For instance, Francesa was interviewing Brian Cashman today and discussing the rise of shifts in baseball, and apparently was calling for the MFYs to get more guys like Matty Alou.  You know, the Matty Alou that kids today are always talking about.

In comparison, LT is a fresh reference.

He's become the cranky old uncle who can't help talking about how great the players were in his day as compared to now.

Caller asked Mike why the Pats game was on FOX on Sunday. Mike said it was a typo and to ignore that mistake. Producer had to Tweet later on that it wasn't a mistake after all and not to flood in with calls.

That was hilarious...it's been all over the sports news for a couple weeks about this game being on FOX...he dismissed the caller in his usual assholish way and even when he found out it was true he made it sound like it just happened...

That's weird though.  Why are the Pats-Bills, two AFC teams, on FOX instead of CBS?  How often does that happen?

The 718
Since Jabba loves to discuss the media side of sports ("that game did a 34. That's YUUUUUGE,") and since this is, like, his job, you'd think he'd know that (I knew it and I don't follow closely and I don't care).

He really is the cranky old uncle. It's a shame, because he's an immensely talented guy, as he occasionally shows at those times when he seems to give a shit.

If ND hangs around its current ranking, wait till FF drags out that old chestnut that the Committee MUST include ND in the final four. That will be special.

First things first though. He's salivating like Cindy Lou Who over the roast beef with regard to Denver/Jets today.

To be fair, in order to stay at their current ranking they will have to win or nearly win this Saturday.  And if either happens and they win out then they probably should be in the final four.

Just listened to the Ryan interview...great stuff. Mikey's losing his fastball on current events but he's at his best when reliving the days of yore. Whenever he's got a guy who can walk down memory lane with him, he brings it, because he's got a very good memory for events. His interviews with Dog back in the day were great at this too - I especially remember a Duke Snider interview where he took calls from a good half-dozen Brooklyn Dodger fans. If he ever decided to go part-time like Ryan does now, a sports history talk show for an hour or two a week with a guest ex-player, sportswriter or author would be a great use of his talents.

One thing though, are the Patriots really the number one team in Boston now? I know the Red Sox brand has been tarnished a little bit with people not totally over 2011 and two stinker seasons, even though they won the World Series last year, and the Patriots are the new 49ers for year in, year out excellence. But the Patriots were overshadowed by the Sox when they were actually winning Super Bowls (especially the second and third), and there's a niggling doubt in my mind that when Brady and Belichick retires, that things will cool down. I think their days of playing in front of 30,000 people and being totally irrelevant are over, but you can still start a conversation in mid-December on Boston sports radio by asking "What should the Red Sox do?" and I'm not sure that will follow when the Patriots are 4-12.

Back to current events, tough weekend for Mike. The Pats won impressively, the Jets didn't lose nearly badly enough to mock, and the Giants got murdered.

Notes Dame football today, with an eye toward FSU and the big if?

Sad about the Giants. Worst fears realized.

"I'm sure we have a seething Tom Coughlin, and it is justified."

Cruz big loss.

"In every way this was as bad as it could possibly get."

This is good.

That is right. He is sad more than anything else and knows the upcoming schedule is brutal.
