Landing such a prominent spot so quickly does seem to lend itself to the notion it was at least a mutual idea at Entercom.
Maybe they told him awhile ago that his time was limited and to see what other options were out there.

Didn't one of the new bosses recently openly state something to the effect that he wasn't impressed by Salk?  The implication seemed to be that the writing was on the wall for Salk, but perhaps things were already in the works for Salk to go back to Seattle.  Can't imagine getting hired as PD out there came about only in the last few days.
