Jackie Robinson was monumental. And he didn't come with an entourage or the understanding that most of us are on his side. This is just silly and self-serving.

I think this is monumental. Ok, maybe not at Jackie Robinson level, but up there. If you can't see that or disagree that's your judgment call.

No email exists. dcmissile made up an email like six posts ago but it didn't actually happen.

I realize facts probably don't change the calculus but YMMV.
No shit.
I knew that dcm constructed a hypothetical.
I responded to the hypothetical.
It still remains my opinion that this was handled in about as inept a manner as possible.
YMMV

Have mods ever slapped a 24-48 moratorium on a thread just to keep it from becoming irredeemably shitty?

I think my thoughts have just about percolated, but seriously--fuck this shit.

The facts that Clayton and ESPN reported were that Fisher said no Oprah sideshow, the Rams met with Oprah and told them no access to the practices. Are you aware of another report?

This interview on ESPNRadio (Mike & Mike) with Sam's agent, says the exact opposite:

“OWN’s cameras would never be able to go to the Rams’ facility to be inside the locker room, to get on the field, because nobody has those rights besides the NFL.” Weiss was asked if the filmmakers had approached team officials to shoot at the Rams facility and said, “It wasn’t asked at all. We wouldn’t put the Rams in that position.”

While the Rams themselves have yet to make any comment about the production,

I am unable to find a link to John Clayton's piece that quotes Jeff Fisher. Could you please post a link? I'd like to be clear about the facts.

Clayton was on SC this morning with the story so it could have been last nights broadcast I'm not sure. I trust Clayton who has no dog in the fight than Team Sam who monumentally screwed this up to begin with.

Brick wall? Lol. Let's recap. You shoot personal insults my way because you disagree with my opinion that this would be a major "distraction" to the Rams training camp. Fisher and the Rams cut the cord citing "distraction" yet you continually attempt to mock those who saw this coming. Not your finest hour John.

Posted that yesterday (@soxfan121), maybe the second viewing and it will stick for everyone.

A lot of this boils down to some here thinking a cynical take on everything passes for great insight. So you get that information soxfan121 posts, and he's still "grabbing cash" and obviously only trying to help himself, ignoring the hard and singularly focused work of his teammates while he distracts them with cameras that won't be there and questions about distractions from the people doing the distracting, AND he's on ChemistrySchmemistry's List of Assholes he Hopes He Doesn't See in the NFL. Oh and HE handled the thing ineptly, too.

This is pretty weak sauce for this place. Scores of you just making your own projected leaps and embracing double standards, ignoring facts and calling it "common sense."
Case in point:

I'd be interested in a documentary about a low-round draft choice fighting for a roster spot. Kind of like Hard Knocks without the desperate need to inject an artificial story line.

The problem is, having a film crew follow you around an NFL training camp is too much of a distraction. First, for the player. And then for all the players and coaches who have to deal with the associated bullshit. There's just too much to do in too little time. You have to be a giant ego-driven shit like Rex Ryan to welcome something like that.

So, reading the quote from soxfan, none of this should be an issue, right? So where is the distraction again?

I was mocking the logic of "distraction" and continue to. You can project some more onto the reasons "Jeff Fisher cut the cord," assuming that is who cut it, but I liked Average Reds' summation. If he's doing it because he thinks cameras that won't be there will be distracting his players, then I am mocking him, too.

I'm not protecting anything and have no reason to believe Clayton is 100% FOS, do you? As far as cameras that weren't there.....dude, cameras WERE there the first day but not allowed onto the field. Following practice Fisher blew off his presser to deal with the Oprah shit show that no longer exists.

Where are you getting your info that there were no cameras?

Could you provide a link to a source that reported cameras on the field? Or to Clayton's comments? Or to something tha reports Fisher "blew off" a press conference (word filters being gone sometimes sucks) to "deal with the Oprah shit"?

I got my info from ESPN Radio and NFL.com, both linked above.
