Article this morning about how the Mets mere presence at the Royals WS celebration just prior to their opening game made it very "awkward".

Jeebus, anyone remember 2005, and the mere suggestion from the Red Sox that they would postpone their ring celebration to something later than opening day, when we played the MFY? There was widespread outrage, they did it opening day, and the ceremony couldn't have been more enjoyable, from my perspective. And NY, to their credit, took it standing up, with all their players standing at the top of the dugout watching.

What a terrible mentality. I hate KC even more now.

The Royals fucking suck. I can't wait until they're back at the bottom of the cellar where they belong.

One of my (many) favorite memories of that ring ceremony was the HUGE cheers given to Mariano when his name was announced.

And he tipped his cap with a smile.

A few things:

The article you linked to is a throwaway ESPN article that pulls from a KC newspaper article about the hometown team celebrating a title and the grind of a long season and how it's all worth it, and how the fans started showing up yesterday at 8 am.

ESPN said Ned Yost "bristled" at the Mets being there. He simply said, "For them to relive that," Yost said, "it's a little awkward.". What an asshole.

The KC article was 22 or so paragraphs long. The Mets weren't mentioned until more than halfway through it.

ESPN sucks.

He became my favorite non-Red Sox player ever then. Honestly it was a Top Ten moment in Red Sox / Yankees rivalry for me.

And right before that, there was a moment of silence for Dick Radatz. The PA guy was juuuust about to say thank you, when someone from the crowd broke the silence with a A-rod sucks yell, so it sounded like

A-rod, you suck!!!!
Thank you.

Ned Yost really is a clueless tool, isn't he?

Just proves how little a manager actually contributes to a winning franchise.
Nah, Ned was right. He was commiserating with the Mets for having to relive the WS
