Parros is too busy selling t-shirts to police player safety anyway.

A competent league would've had Wilson on a Torres-esque half-season suspension before this incident, full season suspension after this. Instead he'll probably sit a game or two max, and the next guy in Buchnevich's position won't be so lucky.

In a vacuum it was a dirty play but low on the egregiousness factor IMO. That being Tom Wilson, well benefit of the doubt went out the window a while ago.

I think we’ll be seeing another Tom Wilson suspension coming. He punched Buchnevich in the head on the ice then a huge brawl ensued. He is such a piece of garbage.
He got a double minor for roughing (one for the actions against Buchnevich and one for the actions against Panera) and a 10-minute misconduct. Good job, good effort, refs.

i don’t know, I’d say when you drive someone’s head into the ice and then decide the only way to top that off is to punch him in the head while he’s lying there, that’s pretty egregious.
And that doesn’t even speak to the spaz fest he threw after that.

Chris Drury is going to be the interim president and full-time GM. If Davidson and Gorton were fired, why was someone working under them named their successor if they wanted to clean house? This just makes no sense whatsoever. They have close to $30 million in cap space and a very talented and young roster. Mind-boggling move.

Only logical thing is that Drury had an offer to go run another team and Dolan didn't want him to leave.

I'm not sure if it's two minutes in the box or five for using "logical" and "Dolan" in the same sentence.

Sounds like Dolan just got impatient. Davidson was hired in May of 2019. That's on the heels of their "we're tearing it down and rebuilding" letter to the fan base. All of a sudden he's gone and Gorton too. If the Wilson thing truly played no role, I think the likely story is Dolan got impatient with the rebuild, ordered Davidson to fire Gorton, Davidson refused so Dolan greased them both. Also, Drury's been a hot name for GM openings over the past few years. I believe he's turned down interview requests to stay with NYR. Maybe Dolan drank up the cool-aid and feared losing him and said fuck it.

I have a good buddy who plays guitar occasionally for Dolan’s fantasy-camp rock and roll band and attests to the high
d-baggery Dolan demonstrates on a regular basis.
But my question today is why the Wolf Pack enforcer/DMan was not called up if only for self-respect purposes. And is there any connection between that non-decision, the egg on the league’s face (said egg thrown by NYR brass), and the relationship between Dolan and the league? Can’t plausibly just be a coincidence, can it?

Jaffe was on the radio this morning and said that the big Ahl goon has an injured hand.

Per The Athletic, it was terribly unfair to question George Parros' professionalism, or lack thereof:

The NHL fined the New York Rangers $250,000 on Thursday for their criticism of the league's player safety department earlier this week, after Washington Capitals winger Tom Wilson was not suspended for his role in a fracas between the two teams on Monday.

"Public comments of the nature issued by the Rangers that were personal in nature and demeaning of a League executive will not be tolerated," commissioner Gary Bettman said in a statement. "While we don't expect our Clubs to agree with every decision rendered by the Department of Player Safety, the extent to which the Rangers expressed their disagreement was unacceptable. It is terribly unfair to question George Parros' professionalism and dedication to his role and the Department of Player Safety."

You'll notice that they did not assert that Parros was right.

I really don't know how the Sabres should handle it. He clearly seems unhappy and would like to move on. From the team side, that's going to be an awfully tough trade for them to make. They'll never get equal value back in a deal and that's going to be a real tough sell to one of the most loyal fan bases in the league.

Seems like an overpay for a guy coming off his ELC swayed by a PDO-inflated +/-; for context, it's an extra year and > 2x AAV Grzelcyk's second contract.

Good for Lindgren for getting paid, he'll be a serviceable 3-4D, and the Rags have some breathing room on the cap finally with $13.5m of Brendan Smith + Shattenkirk/Lundqvist's dead cap hits coming off the books.
