Papelbon allowed 3 runs to turn a 6-4 lead into a 7-6 Royals walkoff. These are the Royals I remember from last year's playoffs.

Chacin of the Braves has given up 8 runs to the Mets in five innings. The Sox squeezed out 3 in a loss. Of course, Buchholz was pitching for us. I am so jealous of the Mets' young pitching! (Steven Matz today)

In the weird play department, Phillies lead 4-3 at St. Louis. Bottom 9th. Jeanmar Gomez first walks Wong, then allows a double (missed going out by a hair) to a PH Adams. Then it gets weird. Carlos Martinez, a pitcher pinch runs for Adams (at 2nd, Wong is still at 3rd). Gomez IBBs the next batter. Next up, a ground ball, barely kept in the infield, Wong scores, game tied. Carlos Martinez clearly overruns a stop sign (the ball is in the infield) gets caught in a rundown, except he should have been out since he ran out of the baseline to avoid the 3rd base coach. Weirdness all around. Game tied, 2 outs, men on 2nd and 3rd.

Matt Holliday singled to end it next.

Another IBB for Harper from the Cubs in the 10th with runners on 1st/2nd and 2 out.

11 consecutive AB's without an actual at bat being recorded.

And it pays off for Madden.

There is a pair of fans hilariously heckling the Nats players on the Cubs feed on MLBtv. They were on a roll when Werth came to the dish. So good.

If I'd paid for a ticket to the Nats Cubs game today I'd ask for a refund. They need a new rule that the second time you intentionally walk the same after its 2 bases, and the time it's 3 bases and so on.

Reminds me of when the corpse of Benito Santiago was protecting Bonds in 2002.

Today is an outlier though. This is just more of Maddon in his never ending quest in proclaiming himself The Smartest Guy In The Room. See ALDS Game 4 in 2013 for a previous prominent example.

Top 12, 1st and 2nd and 2 out again. And another IBB for Harper. 6 walks and a HBP today.
“@MarkZuckerman: 6-walk games in MLB history:
Jimmie Foxx (1938)
Andre Thornton (1984)
Jeff Bagwell (1999)
Bryce Harper (2016)”

“@ESPNChiCubs: Just to make this official. No player until today (Harper) has ever reached base 7 times without an at-bat in a major-league game (Elias)”

Harper gets up again if WAS can get through this inning.

Ryan Zimmerman has 14 LOB, I wonder what the record is for a game.

Never mind, Javier Baez goes deep in the 13th and the Cubs finish off the four game sweep.

Can't find a way to link directly to the video, but weirdness in the Marlins/Brewers game. J.T. Realmuto hit what should have been a two-run home run to deep center. But the runner on first, Marcell Ozuna, thought the CF might catch it, so he ran back to first to tag up...as Realmuto was rounding the bag in his HR trot. On replay, Realmuto called out for passing the runner, and Ozuna scores on a 408 foot RBI single over the CF fence.

Bryce Harper definitely screamed "fuck you" at an umpire tonight, and I'm pretty sure he followed that up with a slur that starts with F as well. "Make baseball fun again", huh?

I'm a shitty lip reader, I guess. It could be that he yelled something else after the ump turned his back, but that's what it looked like to me.

No, he did yell something after the ump turned his back. I don't think think it's the word you're thinking of Scoops but he's certainly screams something else before turning back to his teammates

Pretty funny that Clint Robinson, who hit the walk off HR in the Nats game right after Harper was ejected, thought it was the 8th inning.

Bullpen collapse by the ChiSox (Albers) . 7 runs in the 8th to blow one in Texas.

So the Twins roll over and play dead for the O's again today.
Is it me or does it seem like everyone in the AL East (especially NY) just owns them but they play the Sox as if it's Game 7 of the World Series and their very life depends on it?
