Bloom's gonna trade Devers for six lottery tickets and a 27-year old underachieving ex-prospect.Not sure I trust the front office to get good value after the Betts and Beni deals

Different sport, but Canadians were in SCF last year and were a shit show this year.Hard to believe this team (or a version of it) was two games away from the World Series six months ago. Just brutal.
He’s on a sand bar off Ipswich.Did he get stuck in the Cape Cod Canal?
Different sport and an anomalous COVID playoff format that guaranteed a Canadian finalist. I think most would acknowledge that the Red Sox overachieved last season, but no one expected this type of regression.Different sport, but Canadians were in SCF last year and were a shit show this year.
I left about an hour ago to run an errand. I imagine it was a crisply played game, with smart moves, and. . .well, we just got edged out by an equally solid team.First I gave up watching them days ago, then stopped getting notifications on my phone as it was too frustrating. Now only checking in the game thread. I refuse to watch them again until they win at least two in a row. Which it appears may never happen.
They also used seven pitchers today to cover nine innings. I think they need about five more roster spots, period. We had a three-man bench:
JBJ hit for Dalbec
Franchy ran for JDM
Plawecki hit for JBJ
I don't not what that says, other than maybe we don't need 14 pitchers
Simple as this. But Bloom had success with his "openers" in TB so this is going to be the hill he is going to die on.They need their starters to be allowed to go longer so they need fewer relievers
Yeah, but the philosophy and makeup in Tampa was different. The Rays opener often went no more than 1-3 innings. They had a couple of "bulk" pitchers who were more like starters who would then come in for 4-5 innings so in affect they were pitching later into the game. They also had one or two guys capable of closing the door. The Sox only wish they had that hill to die on and unfortunately may die depending on Rich Hill.Simple as this. But Bloom had success with his "openers" in TB so this is going to be the hill he is going to die on.
We need to stop pretending that this "philosophy" is exclusive to Bloom (or to GMs with Tampa roots). The trend of starting pitchers throwing fewer pitches and not going deep into games is league-wide.Simple as this.
