Yeah, sure feels like a "not conclusive" situation to me. I thought for sure it was going to be blocking, though.
Yeah I could give them that one. But you couldn't tell if Alonso got his hand back down on the plate in time.
Mets broadcasters did a nice job there too. Good team.
Well by that verbiage he is on home plate.... but he also gives a lane to the runner to score easily. Maybe the rule is more nuanced.
CWS @ STL. CB Bucknor just rang up Nicky Lopez on strike three, except he never signaled that it was a strike.
Pitch was close on the outside edge. Lopez even took a step towards the dugout, assuming it was strike three, but Bucknor never flinched. Contreras eventually asked him if it was strike three, Buckor agreed, and they proceeded to throw the ball around the infield.

Mize and Torkelson are a good reminder that rebuilds and #1 picks don’t always turn out like Baltimore.

Kyle Manzardo is making his MLB debut for Cleveland as the DH in the 7th spot. Fortunately, someone has informed idiot PBP guy Matt Underwood since spring training that his name isn't Manzanardo.
Probably helps to only have 5 teams in the NL over .500 (and they've only played 6 games vs >.500 teams)
As a Sox fan who clearly remembers Manoah screaming at our dugout and strutting in Fenway, I'm embarrassed to admit I have taken some amount of pleasure in his downfall. (Video below of him telling Franchy Cordero to "sit the f*ck down" and later telling Bobby D to "go sit down, bitch" -- if I'm reading his lips right -- in 2022)

Anyway, I don't follow the Blue Jays organization closely enough to know what's going on, but this year he got absolutely wrecked in A ball, then had a 6.50 ERA in AAA (with 1 or 2 good starts) and all of sudden he's back in the Majors? That doesn't seem like a long-term plan to fix a still 26-year-old talented pitcher who has developed the yips (or whatever is going on with his inability to throw strikes and control his stuff).

My younger brother renewed his two Phillies Sunday season tickets and added 4 more Sunday season tickets with the thought of selling the extras if no one in the family wanted them. I think he's going to win his bet that these things will remain valuable. Last month the Phils drew great crowds during a homestand that featured series against the Rockies and the White Sox.
They're a fun team to watch, although they're going to need help in the bullpen if their expected big guns there don't start pitching better.
I’ve thought since the offseason that they were the likely destination for Kenley if the Sox trade him.
Yeah, he is a belligerent dick, which IMO is OK if you are backing it up like when he was dominant in 2022 (2.24 ERA in 196.2 innings in his age 24 season) but certainly I have been taking great joy in his struggles since then also, especially how inexplicable it seems to be, that he just forgot how to pitch well at age 25.
Last year in his attempt to de-Blass* himself in the minors, NY's 18 year old prospect Roderick Arias took him deep in the FCL, not a cheapie either. Arias hasn't hit many HRs yet in pro ball, but he sure hit this one.

Yeah, I know some of the greats were belligerent dicks on the mound. Pedro, Clemens*, Randy Johnson, Bob Gibson, etc., let alone in other sports like Larry Bird's legendary shit talking. And I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder here. Maybe it's as simple as if he were a dick on my team, I’d have been into the guy.
Manoah just always gave me David Wells vibes. A tough talking hard-o who crossed the line from fierce competitor and is just a mean-spirited bully. But maybe that's because he was doing it as a visiting pitcher in Fenway, and to AAAA players who were already struggling like Dalbec and Cordero.
I'll allow it... especially since it seems like instead he continues to get Blass-ted at the major league level.
* PS This made me go back and watch Clemens early career to see how he reacted in his 20K game. Basically doesn't react, and certainly doesn't scream at guys he struck out.

I'm certain this is mostly a product of pitch framing and catchers sitting closer to the plate than usual, but interference and backswing contact seems like it's insane this year.

He's the only Cardinal who's been hitting this year, too, that's a huge blow to them if he's really going to be out for a long time. I thought they were going to rebound strong this year, but it's not looking good right now.
They gave him two shots at the Cycle and it didn't happen (infield single and flyout). Then they took him out before his turn came around.

Beat Berrios and the Jays 10-1. They are 26-11, which is their best start since the Kruk, Dykstra, Daulton, Schilling, et al Phils started 27-10 in 1993.
They sat Bohm, and Kody Clemens went 2-4 with a triple and a homer and drove in four runs. Pretty much everything is working for them now.
On the replay, it looks like he is in front of the back line of the batter's box. How is that possibly a legal setup position?

Sure, but he was 2-for-2 with 2 home runs in the first 2 innings, so he kind of choked after that.
