I thought it was a little presumptuous that he showed up to coach the game already wearing his drinking shirt.

But I guess nothing shows your players confidence like showing up for a 37th matchday relegation game already dressed in your drinking shirt. Also makes it easier to blend in during the pitch invasion.
Rafa Benitez' ill-fitting suits led to fans calling him "FSW" (Fat Spanish Waiter). Carlo Ancellotti dressed like a boss - either in a tracksuit or Saville Row. Marco Silva had mid-eighties-mall energy - narrow lapels and skinny tie from Chess King.

Lampard always dresses like he's going to run the leafblower over the driveway.

I forgot that Anwar El Ghazi had come over on loan from Villa.....

I'd like to think Frank got into the changing rooms and promptly changed into a clean, but identical shirt to the one he was wearing during the match. Got off his trolley, with players and staff, mumbled along to every Everton song ever written, all covered in froth and sweat. Ordered a taxi, then changed into another identical shirt before going home to the missus. And we love Frank for that.

I mean, Viera's not blameless as he initiated the physical contact, but Mike Tyson wasn't exactly the aggressor on that plane, either. Hopefully there's a similar resolution.

I don't blame Viera one bit. There's video out there from the phone of the guy. He was goading Viera. After seeing what happened to Billy Sharp he had every right to defend himself.

Evidently the guy was unaware of Viera's reputation from his playing days. Not the guy you want to fuck with.

edit: duh.

There's a bit of fall out over this incident. VIera is crossing the pitch to get to the dressing rooms and is being taunted, up close and personal, by a fan and he kicks out. In the post match conference VIera said he had nothing to say about the incident. I love VIera, I hope he doesn't get into any, or too much, bother over this.

When asked for comment, Arsene Wenger said he did not see the incident.

I don’t know the backstory, can you explain?
Wenger's early Arsenal teams had a pretty poor disciplinary record. Vieira in particular got 9 red cards during his Arsenal career. Whenever Wenger was asked in a post-match press conference about a dirty foul by an Arsenal player, he would always say, "I did not see the incident."

I think Wenger normalized that as a go to response for any manager or coach.

I knew about Viera’s style but I didn’t know that this was a Wenger thing.

Are Everton looking to move Pickford on?
No but realistically the finances are in poor shape so everyone has a price.

Richarlison is the most likely to go although I don’t think he’s an every-week starter for a CL-level side in one of the top five leagues.

Calvert Lewin’s value has tanked after his bad season.

Supposedly Moyes wants Keane at West Ham. Keane has been an enigma- good enough to be the best defender in the side for stretches of the past couple of season and even made his way into the England side for a time, but has made many terrible errors this season and dropped to the bench. A”confidence” player, who became timid when things went south. But last night he was the leader we needed. Had composure when no one else did, even when we started the second half on the front foot it was all manic energy. His goal to get Everton going was one that any striker would be proud to claim- off balance volley off the side of his left foot. Maybe one night not enough to undo a nightmare season?

can’t see many other players fetching much. Thankfully some big contracts will expire so the FFP situation should improve.

Pickford's primary value at this point is probably to a side with problems with English players. Looking up and down the table, I'm not sure where else his salary would justify him. He used to be such an elite shot stopper with incredible reflexes and explosive power. I loved watching him. Goalkeepers that rely on those gifts don't age well if they don't adjust and I haven't seen any evidence that he has. He also seems to be missing a power regulator for his left foot, or it's jammed on "Max." Rough for teams that like to keep the ball.

Richarlison is more interesting to me. He's terrifying when he's motivated/not moping. Is there a CL-side in the top five leagues that has the right mix of younger kids (and maybe a Brazilian or two) requiring leadership and a strong personality/coach that can keep him in line?

I can see CCL getting nabbed by a rebuild project like Juventus and finding his feet.

I doubt any club outside Bayern & Dortmund could manage his wages - and neither of those clubs would likely interested - but Richarlison would be a banger in the Bundesliga. It’s the most open & flowing of the Big 5, which is where that motherfucker does his best work.

Richarlison kept us up. He said he was going to and he did. He’s one determined fucker when he’s on it.

Eight of out ten EPL games today matter for important positions on the table in some way. Liverpool/Wolves and City/Aston Villa matter for the title, Spurs/Norwich and Arsenal/Everton matter for top four, ManU/Palace and West Ham/BHA matter for who gets Europa and who gets Conference League, and Burnely/New Castle and Leeds/Brentford matter for relegation. Only Chelsea/Watford and Leicester/South Hampton don’t really matter.
