Ugh.

Cue the "why didn't we get a BP arm better than Hansel?" chorus

If he tests negative but is too sick to pitch, can they stash him on the covid-il?
Doesn't seem like it, since they've already admitted someone else is sick but tested negative. He's not on the COVID IL, or even named. My guess is if Barnes' test comes back negative, he gets re-instated and they play a game or two short-handed.

Aren't the "bullpens" in that dump of a stadium in Tampa along the first and third base lines?

Where do the bullpen members sit, are they in the dugouts until they go warm up or are they on top of the fans in an indoor stadium in a state where COVID is raging out of control?

What about when they are warming up, how close are they to the mouth breathers in the stands?

Pretty close, if there is anybody in the stands.

I know I spotted Barnes in the dugout early in one of the games, maybe after Renfroe's HR on Sunday? That might be closer privilege though.

I think there's a bit of a gap between the wall by the bullpen area and the actual seating area, so I don't think whatever fans may have been there were on top of any of the players.

The Rays are in first place, they're up to about 40% capacity................oh wait; subtract out visiting team fans and they're back to their usual 19 fans per game.

Sad, the team deserves so much better.

I live in the Tampa - Saint Pete area. My work embraced a hybrid environment. Several, including myself, are vaccinated and did catch something last week. Of the four of us, I know three (including myself) tested negative for COVID. The other one didn’t get tested.

So not sure where @tmracht is, but something like that is going around the Tampa area and it’s hopefully just that.
