The box before a corner is pretty much no holds barred but it’s always allowed hence no complaints.
I understand that before a corner jostling and holding is common place, but when the ball is in the air this level of shirt-pulling isn't common, is it? For the times that it happens and it's not called, there seems to be a lot of complaining (so not sure what you mean by "no complaints")

No it is not! See Newcastle from 15 months ago.

It's a good point and a useful reminder of the size of the job Newcastle have to stick around. They spend the next month touring the 8-15 bracket, which is where they'll need to make their hay.
Newcastle did what teams do when they think there is a big talent gap and they're playing on the road. They did everything to slow the game down and waste time, packed their half defensively, and fouled relentlessly. I was a bit surprised they did it only because of how well they had been doing, but we know the gap offensively is pretty big right now, so I wasn't totally surprised either. It was the classic "hard fought draw" against a top of the table team. I can't get too mad about that, every team does it at some point, or should be able to. But the ref let the game get away from him a few times, made some too aggressive calls to try to get back in control, and then let some much, much worse things go at other moments. I was much more concerned about players getting injured than having a bad result.

We know Newcastle is there defensively, but they definitely need to add to the attack. I know there is talk of FFP or the EPL rules limiting what they can spend in the next few windows, but teams with money to spend always seem to figure out ways around that. It will be interesting to see who they bring in this window to make sure they get a Champions league slot.

At the risk of piling on to OCST during a bad time, how would you rank these elements of this sequence in terms of blooper reel humor:

1) The free kick itself
2) The ensuing linebacker-like hit in the corner
3) The backpass by Gueye
4) Pickford taking out Tarkowski

I'm leaning 4, 3, 2, 1, with the play just getting more and more absurd as it went.

Watching Spurs @Palace, NGL I kinda like when the camera angles get interesting at these 19th century grounds!

Edit: It kinda feels like you're always watching a replay

Spurs have been much better with Kane dropping deep. Gil is also doing a good job showing for the ball. I think Spurs need Sonny to play as the 9 thru the middle to make room for Perisic. It isn't the best idea, but it's the one I got.

Spurs looked good until the second Palace started pressing and now they look awful. Hopefully clawing back into it though.

Aaroson gifts West Ham a chance and Scamacca finishes nicely to take the lead. First goal from play (non-penalty) in almost 400 minutes for West Ham.

There’s a reason why drunk dialing an ex, three years after your breakup, is universally regarded as a mistake.

It seemed liked he thought Azpilicueta was going to block it then was worried about palming it to Haaland so he let it run hoping his defense would clean it up. Definitely not one for the highlight reel but he’s been playing very solid this year.
