Disgraceful performance from Tottenham today. No way they finish as a top four side without a major turnaround.

The 718
NBC studio crew nailed it- Spurs are too passive. I know Grace to some attacking players out but a side with Son and Kane should not be playing defensively against Villa at home, not a side with aspirations.

Hard disagree, @OCST. That was a side with aspirations to get their manager fired (possibly shared by both players and Conte). Shit game plan executed shittily.

Lloris is a broken man, too.

This is the fourth manager the squad has just quit on in a row. There have been legit issues at each of those times, but something is wrong in that locker room.

Or above the manager.

It’s accepted practice for footballers to tank to get their manager fired, which has always blown my mind. I would think that would stain them with a toxicity in the transfer market, but it never seems to happen.

Like you say, each manager had problems. Conte is notoriously difficult (and is going to start looking like Mourinho), but handwaving away the trend would be dangerous.

I would take a long look at Lloris at this point, both as a goalkeeper and as a leader. His body language is one of utter defeat. I don’t think he’s of much use to anyone right now.

As an outsider to Spurs and England, I’d also question Kane’s leadership role. Is he an effective captain or is the role thrust on him through his on-field ability? What culpability does he have in his teams’ lack of silverware? Pickford is a berater, Henderson is a screamer, but both seem to have found effective leadship styles. What do Kane or Lloris do to lift this Spurs side?

Just an FYI, Kane isn't the Spurs captain, Lloris is.

Pulisic getting a second start in a row since the World Cup, nice play from him to set up an opener from Sterling. Forest has looked dangerous on the counter though, wouldn’t be surprised if they break through with one sooner rather than later.
