He has nobody to blame but himself for going to Man U, but it is depressing watching Sancho here after watching him at Dortmund.

Honest question. It looks like it hit Dalot in the arm on the way down. Is it because he didn't end up scoring that it's not a Handball? I thought unnatural position was disregarded when it led to a goal but wasn't clear if it was directly leading or what?

Edit: I looked it up. It changed last season. Two years back, any Handball in the leadup is no goal. Last year, it changed to only apply to the goal scorer. Hence that is a goal if it's deemed unintentional and natural position.

Too superstitious to post here until the final whistle. Potter is a genius. Gross is immense. Top of the league!

Sancho could reunite with Erland across town

Remember when Brighton fans were booing Potter in February after a series of draws? After all those player exits, they still hit the ground running

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. They were only playing United.

My wife called from the living room that Ederson got a black eye. My first thought was to wonder if he’d just gotten another awful tattoo over the off season.

Feels like 15 minutes of actual play with 30 minutes on the clock

edit: And west ham are coping with 1 CB by having a consistent back 6 right now lol

Haaland looks like what happens when one of the varsity kids decides to scrimmage with the JV team. He's just so explosive. Are we allowed to praise his pace and power even though he's not Black?

Juventus and Atletico are playing. Of course Morata scores.

I think they should forgo the “friendly” term for Atletico and instead market as “non-competitive match.”

He is an absolute unit. He could have gone to Spain and scored 60 league goals.

He still might score 40 in England with the side he has around him.
He won’t score as much at City because teams will setup like Weat Ham did today and as a striker is 1 v 5 centrally. But for us he’s here for precisely the goal he scored today just a simple pass that maybe only he even gets to and all that bus parking went for nothing immediately. He’s here to score those important goals when the going is tough like Aguero used to

Jesus. The moment West Ham opens it up even a little Haaland is just ready to savage them with a run behind. That pattern looks to repeat itself a lot this year. Scary stuff.

What's the worst injury you ever got between the sticks?

What's the worst injury you ever got between the sticks?
I was lucky (ten years ago I’d have bragged I was tough). Broken ribs, several concussions (one that “broke” my depth perception for a few weeks), broken fingers, the typical sprains and strains. I got a boxer’s fracture in my right hand trying to punch a cross away. An opponent shoved me in the back as I leapt and my fist connected with his teammate’s head. He was out cold, my hand hurt but adrenaline kept me going until I had to cut my glove off after the game due to the swelling.

I also had a catch in my dive to my right side that guaranteed I’d never have skin on my elbow. I took to wearing a compression sleeve on that side that solved it, but they weren’t really available until my mid-twenties.

I saw a horror injury at goalkeeper camp caused by the reinforced finger gloves that made me swear to never have a pair. It’s hard to explain without pictures, but the kid’s hand was impaled by the plastic spines. I then experienced the same situation he did and didn’t have a scratch, so that was a plus.

I also caused a horror injury- compound leg fracture. Pouring wet day, forward in on a breakaway. He tried to go around and the ball stopped on a puddle. I went down for it as he slid to get it. His studs contacted my chest and sort of caught in my shirt. Twisted his knee (which was inches from my head) and I heard the wet pop as every squishy thing holding him together let go and the bone slid out. I thought I would need stitches in my chest but the bleeding stopped fairly quickly. I had nightmares about that for years and took a few months off playing. Taking a ball off an attacker’s feet always brought that back, though.

The best story is from a futsal tournament. First few minutes of the first match I got absolutely clobbered in the head. I don’t remember anything else until I woke up at home the next day. My wife said I had driven myself home and was woozy all night, going to bed early. When I cleaned out my gear bag the next day I found a champion’s medal and t-shirt. I hopped on Facebook and saw the celebration pics with my team. Must have been a fun one, but fucked if I know.

I did some time with a USL League 2 side but never got into a match (or was issued a uniform), so we don’t count that. Just Sunday leagues and the like after college. I’ve mostly managed to blank my college memories- they nearly made me divorce the game. Double and triple sessions on old school astroturf pitch to be an absolutely awful team, culminating in a loss to the school’s intramural team (which I ended up joining after quitting the school team and finding my love of the sport again).

Was able to go back and watch the rest of the Newcastle-Forest game, and my main takeaway is that Forest is in some trouble.

I'm surprised that made it to x-ray. A good yank and you're right as rain. Structurally, anyway... The pain is another matter...
Yeah, I just finished out the game, the doc fixed it the next afternoon, and I played again that night.
