Marquee prices for Patriots

Looked through the Lombardi and FV forums and didn't find it (press release came out week of super bowl), and since the Red Sox version of this is getting a lot of posts, figured it could use a thread of its own.

http://www.patriots.com/news/article-1/Patriots-introduce-variable-pricing-for-2014-season-tickets/1371bc29-dbda-4fca-8ebd-d8d743551f92

"This year's season tickets will list different prices for games in the three categories of Preseason (2 games), Premier (4 games) and Marquee (4 games)."

"Preseason games will now be priced at approximately 50 percent of the Premier games, while the most anticipated Marquee games, such as the 2014 rematch of the 2013 AFC Championship Game between the Patriots and Broncos, will be assigned a value approximately 25 percent higher than Premier games. The prices in the Premier category reflect the standard ticket pricing from last year, of which five of the seven categories have not changed."

Cheapest Marquee lower level ticket will now be $167 for season ticket, higher for single game.

Seems to me like the biggest effect is the resale value of the games on the team-authorized site where you can sell at face value.

outside of ticket prices dropping, this is great for most season ticket holders. Tickets over the full season basically stay the same, but preseason and non-marquee games are cheaper, the best games are more expensive. The only season ticket holders that are probably pissed are those that only go to the marquee games.

It'll be easier to find someone to take preseason games if you dont want to go etc.

I usually eat my preseason tickets every year, so this is great. I have had season tickets since 2009, but have actually never sat in my seats. I usually re-sell 4-5 games a year to buddies, and then just use the Patriots Ticket Exchange for the others (and they usually sell within 5 minutes). In effect, this just saves me $50-100 or whatever.

Is it wrong-slash-racist that I assumed this was anything signing for the Patriots?

Marquis Prices or something...I'm just expecting every new thread to be about a new signing.

Keyword there is "most".  My seats are in the 100 corner section, and while my 2 preseason games dropped from $117 to $71, the 4 "Premier" games went from $117 to 135, and the 4 "Marquee" games went form $117 to $167.

Not a huge overall bump, but it's still an increase, despite the fact that the link they sent out makes a big deal about the majority of seat prices not changing overall.
