I'll just have to live with the knowledge that in some alternate reality there's a team that has the Red Sox offense and the Seattle pitching staff

It doesn't "help them" but they've been completely dead since that happened. They were fired up and exciting through the wild card and through game 1 until that happened. They've looked like a different team since then.

Not everything is on the stat sheet.
Completely dead except the part where they led 2-0 through 5 on the road in game 2 and gave up 5 runs in 27 innings?

Does Servais getting them there outweigh his costing them the series?
If Dave Roberts can survive in Los Angeles with a $228m payroll, I think Servais can survive with the 5th youngest team in MLB.

I think the Mariners acquitted themselves pretty damn well in this series (and against Toronto). It's just not their time yet.

Julio Rodriguez must have seen a hundred sliders in this game. Keeping him in check with just the one hit was one of the reasons M’s had trouble scoring.

Yep. He looked like a rookie this series, and especially today. I think he was pressing a bit because of how bad the rest of the team was struggling, and he tried to put them on his back. He missed it by about a foot and a half,

I think this team adds an OF bat (Nimmo seems like a nice fit), calls up Cade Marlowe to be OF4, and comes back strong next year. They also have a few nice arms in the minors who will be close to ready in Hancock and Dollard and a lot of good relief arms, some of who might be used in trades for a bat. I would hate to see Hancock get moved, but I think he could be the centerpiece for something big.

He's got his warts, but man he is going to be legendary in that city. He's only 25, too. Plenty of reason to believe the best is still coming.
So he had those injuries presumably coming into today, right? That is some NHL shit, damn.

Yep. He missed a few games with it, and was actually sitting the night he hit the walkoff to clinch the playoffs because of his thumb.

I'm seeing some speculation (though nothing confirmed) that the reason they were so slow to go to Swanson this postseason was because his split is hell on Cal's thumb.
