What terrible news for this young man. It is the same disease that Mario Lemeuix had, and usually the “better” version of lymphoma. Hopefully Ivan’s life and career will follow a similar arc from a health and ability to play hockey standpoint that Mario’s did.
Every cancer is different but my brother was diagnosed with stage 3 hodgkins lymphoma when he was 32. It has a very high cure rate and and it doesn't often come back, but this kid won't be himself again under the best of circumstances for about 2 years. God speed to him. The treatment sucks but hopefully he will be ok.

Habs beat Edmonton, 5-2. They’re 7-4 since St. Louis took over, and he started with a three-game losing streak. Their tank must’ve been Russian.

Toronto loses another back-and-forth one, 6-4. They really have to make a move for Fleury, ‘cause Campbell/Mrazek have been god awful in 2022 and going against a team like Tampa or Florida, they’ll get just throttled in an all-in year.

I saw reports yesterday that Fleury didn't want to be traded, and that the TOR GM stated he was fine with his current goaltending situation.

Either no call or a minor on Broberg for interference would have been okay there.

Lucic is making a legitimate play towards the puck going hard on the forecheck. His hard skating isn't a problem until Broberg checks over his shoulder and then impedes Lucic's progress. Feels like textbook interference with an added lesson about trying to slow up in front of a bigger player instead of making a play on the puck.

Man. Remember when Lucic was doing shit like that and scoring 30 goals? He was so awesome. We all knew he'd slow down, and he did, so I wasn't sad to see him go, but I do miss having the baddest dude on the ice also scoring on PP1 for the Bruins.

This is their last game before the Heritage Classic in Hamilton, too.

This Leafs core is going to be a cautionary tale for other young GMs once Dubas falls on the sword for them.

Gabriel Landeskog started his postgame with an opening statement. "In 11 years I've never sat and talked about referees in a press conference..." The rest of his comments:

Gabe is not wrong here, but it's pretty rich coming from a guy on the Avs. He's not wrong that the refs call things inconsistently and some teams/players get treated unfairly. Where its funny is the Avs are the second ranked team in the NHL for PIM taken by opponents and have the second lowest % of PIM taken in the games they've played this year in the NHL. You can say that's bc they are possession beasts but so are Carolina and the Bruins. Interestingly, they are 1 and 3 in that category and they both have the puck all the time. So, he's right in saying the league is inconsistent and certain teams get a disproportionate benefit of that inconsistency. What he doesn't realize is his team is one of the biggest beneficiaries of that inconsistency in hockey.

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this, but just a general question- I really want to go to Toews' 1000th game ceremony. If I'm counting right, the first home game after 1000 would be 4/3 (I think 1000 itself is the game before). Is it pretty likely that's when the ceremony would be? The Hawks are pretty terrible, so good seats for that game are cheap right now, but I'd also have to figure out some shifts to switch at work, so I want to start planning it now. Thanks!

That's probably a safe bet, but it depends on other things like Toews' family schedule and if they can attend.

lol ok DOPS. I thought that deserved a game but I NEVER thought he would get it because plays like this NEVER get suspensions. I wonder if they think they are consistent and doing a good job and everyone else is crazy or if they know how bad they are and don't care.

Colorado saves Sweeney from himself getting Manson. Helleson is a good player. That's too much for Manson.
