Seattle has turned things around after a bad start.
The AL East is not looking as strong as most thought it would be, and Houston is a dumpster fire. That might open up the Wild Card races a little more, but it’s still early.

Late April and May of 2023, Chris Sale was also throwing 90-110 pitches, but was only going into the 5th and 6th. Sale famously defers to whatever the catcher calls.
So I think that's your answer. Bush/Varitek sucked.
Most of the way through April, and, as we all predicted, the AL Central would send three teams to the playoffs if the season ended today - Cleveland, KC, and Detroit.
Now, I bet some of you are thinking "well, they're getting fat off the White Sox' misfortunes," and it's true that the Royals are 6-1 against them, but the other teams have only played the White Sox three times each, best as I can tell. I'm not totally sold that any of these teams will make the actual playoffs yet... but I'm not totally sold on the Twins, either, so I won't be too surprised if any of them do.
(Incidentally, the Red Sox are a half-game behind Detroit for that last WC spot in the "if the season ended after one month" playoffs)

There was never any good reason behind the Twins being heavy favorites to win the Central. They won last year because someone had to and Cleveland (who won in 2022) only got 62 starts out of their expected rotation. Neither team made significant additions in the off-season – Minnesota added the corpse of Carlos Santana, while Cleveland brought back Austin Hedges just to be a clubhouse influence. An offense that relies heavily on Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa shouldn't have high expectations.
I keep tempering my excitement by telling myself Cleveland hasn't really played anyone besides the Yankees yet, but then I look at the American League and there really isn't "anyone" this year besides the Yankees and Orioles. Historically, teams that have gotten off to the start the Guardians have are around 75% to make the playoffs.

Sick. I will be at my computer working on homework and my final projects that are due this week. No excuse for me to not tune in, I don't think.
And it is in San Fran. The one thing you can say about Jones is that he is a little prone to giving up homers as the game wears on.
Curious to see if SF suppresses that.

All the buzz is that it’s going to take a while to get flying but when the game finally starts it’s gonna be sweet as honey.
I've been in and out watching this game. While watching it, Cleveland has outscored Houston 8-0, while not watching it, the Astros have outscored the Guardians 8-0. Granted, I did see Carrasco getting himself in deep $*@# before I tapped out for a while, but Houston scored their 8 runs across 2 innings in less than 25 minutes.
After starting the season with 12.1 shutout innings, Hunter Gaddis has blown a lead for Cleveland in three consecutive games.
Following up on this - he struck out his 14th for the 2nd out in the 7th after walking a guy. He'd reached 93 pitches, and was replaced for a lefty/lefty matchup. The Cardinals ended up scoring 2 in the 9th off Shelby Miller to win 2-1.
Obviously, at 93 pitches with 7 outs left to get he wasn't going to finish the game, but he had a legit shot at 20 still.
