Here we go! Let's give the Seagulls something to worry about.

Is it just me and @dirtynine awake for this?

Also, I asked this last week, but as an American, should I feel as ridiculous as I do saying dArby instead of dErby?

And already a yellow card 10 seconds for a nasty tackle on Luka and could have been red.

Neither team has been particularly good in the first half. Brighton has come through with some clutch defense though. The goal was a complete gift. The Eagles have looked occasionally threatening. Hopefully Palace can go after some of these defenders working with yellow cards in the second half.

And it was his last touch of the day. Way to go out, young man.

I said WOW out loud. That will make the season best-of highlights. In real time it was stunning.

That outcome was not reflective of the quality of play.

And why the hell wasn't Guaita up for that last corner?

I'm grumpy.

WHOooo HOOOO Calvert-Lewin with a pretty glancing header off a Digne cross. Toffees looking composed and creative in attack but Magpies dangerous too. End to end action.

I’ve got a ton of respect for Southampton for their ability to rebound after losing so many players and being able to find and develop talent to stay up in the league; but they look very poor today. They simultaneously have very little possession and nobody back on defense.

Not complaining as I've got Pickford on my draft team, but that was as clear a red as it gets IMO

ah it's Lee Mason, now it all makes sense

A Jordan Pickford hat trick:

-Makes a terrible decision to come off his line, botches the save, spills it right to Rondon

-Tackles Rondon (as in American football tackle), ref awards the penalty

-Saves the penalty (has saved 3/5 this season)

Everton counter and score a couple of minutes later (Richarlison).

Pickford not booked but should have been.

Yeah, by the nature of the challenge / the arms tackle, it's a yellow, but I thought it'd be categorized as preventing a clear goal-scoring opportunity given how close the ball lands to Rondon when Pickford spills it.

Sure. Could have been red, though better a yellow IMO.

Meanwhile Schar knocks over Digne In an aerial duel, then somehow gets pissed at Digne and starts slapping him while he’s on the ground. That should have been yellow and may be red.

West Ham get Cardiff when the two other contenders for 7th have Chelsea and City

So of course they're down 2-0

Wasn’t Camarasa a couple yards offside for the second goal? WHU getting jobbed pretty regularly this past couple months

Fredericks on the other side kept him on the ref complaint of there is one is that Arter should have 4 yellows not 1.

Danny Rose can eat every morsel of my ass.

Edit: Eh, maybe he should leave a little for Walker-Peters

Rose instead of Toby costs two points, and KWP costs the third. Too cheeky a line-up for a road game, even against a bottom four team.

Edit: Meant “cocky” instead of “cheeky”, but i’ll let it stand.

Everton were so bright and aggressive in the first half but Newcastle showed why they’ve won five in a row at home, including over City. Very tough, never faltered. Everton just collapsed. Silva took out Richarlison and put in Mina to go five at the back at 75’. I hate that, you’re asking defenders to adopt to new roles in a new shape when they’re under pressure: it’s like the prevent defense. Pickford was dreadful on the second goal. Rondon was offside on the winner but it was coming anyway, Newcastle tasted blood and Everton looked lost.

For 2 1/2 games Everton looked much improved, more fluid in attack and a lot better defending set pieces, their big weakness. This disaster leaves Silva with a lot to answer for. Newcastle and their crowd were so fierce I the second half they probably would have beaten anyone in the PL but you just can’t piss away a two goal lead away from home.

That was the 394th time Everton had a 2-0 lead at the half in its history (all comps). It’s the 2nd such game it lost.

Good grief

Cue the “it would only be 3-0 instead of 4-0” full-time arguments

I’ve not seen a call like that before. Sterling offside and clearly gained an advantage, linesman called it and ref has 5 min conversation to overrule it. And now Watford falls apart and gives up another. The Champions League shows VARs foibles but this is clearly a spot it would have helped them get it righter.

We won't have to worry about Lallana being a late substitute today, because he is starting.

Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Mane, Salah, Firmino.

Substitutes: Mignolet, Lovren, Henderson, Keita, Shaqiri, Origi, Sturridge.
