I love this team. There hasn't been a baseball season I have been this excited for in a long time. I love the new rules. I love the additions to this year's team. I love what the future of the organization holds.

Watching Casas hit 440 foot bombs is my new favorite baseball thing.

Christian Arroyo is criminally unerrated, and will mash with health.

Enrique looks great at SS.

We get to watch Devers forever. I think he will be in the running for MVP this year.

Yoshida is a bargain.

Duvall kind of scares me on defense, but man when he hits the ball its goes really fast.

Verdugo is about to break out in a major way, with no shift.

McGuire, Wong and Alfaro? Sign me up.

Justin Turner is old, but man does he seem like an awesome teammate.

The rotation may not have a true ace, but I really think they are solid from 1 to 8 (once Whitlock, Bello and, fingers crossed, Paxton are healthy.

The bullpen could do for a little less Ort, but is still vastly improved (on paper).

Make no doubt about it, the AL East is the toughest division in baseball. All 5 teams would probably be favored to win either Central division.

But this Red Sox team is going to surprise people, because man they are going to be fun.

Back in September, many of us were lamenting the state of the Bruins, just hooing they could find a way to sneak into the playoffs for one last run with Bergeron.

This is different. This is the start of a new era. This is the year of Casas, Bello and Yoshida. The next couple years add Rafaela, Mayer, Yorke, Bleis, Mata and others.

But this team. This 2023 Red Sox team? I love this team.

Bring on Opening Day.

Fuck yeah! Out of a job as of this week, daughter's sick (but not that sick). Tomorrow, I'm gonna snuggle my girl and watch the Sox beat the tar out of the Orioles and start 2013 redux, another season of "Fuck everyone's expectations". Let's gooooooooooo!

Winter is over. It’s time to play ball.
My pennants and hats are hung on the wall.

My heart’s filled with hope to cheer on our team
As they begin their improbable dream.

I’ll see memories made and new legends born.
And game-thread with friends - the Sons of Sam Horn.

Red Sox baseball and a UConn Final Four. Yeah life doesn’t suck too bad right now.

It was 16f when I took the dogs out this morning, but it's opening day so it felt a lot warmer. I've missed having game threads for meaningful games. Let's go!

I love this team.
Yep - I'll be rooting for their success.

Also, a reminder that our annual Prediction Contest is running in this thread: https://sonsofsamhorn.net/index.php?threads/lets-predict-the-2023-red-sox-season.38943/

You can edit your post of the exact number of wins you predict, and any of your answers to any tiebreaker questions, right up till the first pitch is actually thrown in the Sox game today. (Any editing tag after the first pitch, for any reason, will disqualify the entire post.)

Five pitch clocks at the ballpark. Two on the wall behind home plate, one on the main video board, one on the light tower in center field, and one high above home plate beneath the Dell Technologies level.

This is awesome, as is Opening Day. Here's to hoping the weather keeps the O's bats cold, but ours provide some heat and hope.
Just WIN!

Awwwwwyeah…

Got season tickets again this year against my better judgement…. I’ll be there and bundled up and then heading over to the garden for the always-popular day-night baseball/hockey doubleheader. LFG!!!

Does anyone know what the deal is with the 4 free tickets that come with the annual NESN 360 sub? Can they be resold?

As of right now the Red Sox are in first place.

Sorry about as optimistic as i can get right now with this team, i'm a realist.

Lets go Devers and the +100 fan dual mass bet for 1+ hits today!!!:p

Oh and it will be 39 degrees at 2pm with a 20mph wind. If you are not in the luxury boxes it will be a cold windy day for you. Hopefully that sun stays shining for any of you going to today's game.

Perfect weather for Northeast baseball. We deal with it the whole month of March on the college level.
