If it were 1997
When did Yaz retire?

Kind of Interesting that everything was done in Manning's wife name (though not surprising).

Also:

“No one’s got caught, because the system’s so easy to beat,” Robertson, the pharmacist, brags to Collins. “And it still is, that’s the sad fact. I can take a guy with average genetics and make him a world champion.”

Then, ironically, talks about Taylor Teagarden using.

Kind of a strange article that just throws a bunch of names out there

This sounds like a slightly more obvious Andy Petitte approach..... should i not hold my breath for the Peyton presser treated as if he killed Santa ie Brady and Deflategate ... ?

I mean, if this happened it's really not surprising. I pretty much just assume that any high level athlete who gets a serious injury is probably doing everything possible to recover, and if that includes HGH, it includes HGH.

It will be kind of infuriating to see the NFL sweep an actual CBA violation, one that carries a suspension, under the rug after the Deflategate nonsense though.

HuffPo posted this story 45 minutes ago. Still haven't seen it anywhere other than Twitter. Nothing yet on ESPN, PFT, Fox, etc.

If Brady was linked to a doping scandal, I'm thinking things would be a little different.

Edit - Just to be clear, this story doesn't bother or shock me. I'd bet 80% of NFL players are on something. Shit, I've been on TRT since turning 40. Most all of my friends in Southern California are on that or HGH. I'm just stating that if this was Brady, this story would be viral in 3 minutes.

Watch ESPN say something like "we have to tread carefully on this and not throw out accusations without getting the full picture"

This would be awesome.. . . . you know. . . If the NFL actually did anything about it. Which, they won't.

I don't give a shit if Peyton used HGH, in all honesty. 2011 is when he had the procedures done to his neck, and I don't fault him for doing whatever he could to get back to playing football. I'd wager the vast majority of players have used HGH at some point too, it doesn't tarnish Manning's accomplishments in my eyes. I just want to see if the media gets all high and mighty about this and brings his legacy into question. If Brady's name was cited in that report, he'd be crucified before any evidence ever came out.

Is there anyone in this forum who would think differently about Peyton if the allegations are true? He was never a white knight around here to begin with and this seems like a pretty easy thing to look past when you consider the position he plays, the injury he had and the timing.

Obviously many of us are going to watch the media and the NFL's handling going forward.

Gee, I seem to recall PEDon Manning leading his Broncos to a Superbowl a couple of years ago...

Echoing others, I don't really care if he took HGH or not. Big boy sports, cost of doing business, etc. And I'm completely worn out on the faux scandal of the day nature of sports coverage in the current climate. But the difference on how this will, and to some degree already is, being covered, and how it would be if it was Brady/Patriots involved, is laughable. This will be swept under the rug by all of Gomer's usual disciples, both in the media and the league office. Suspect lifetime suspensions and criminal prosecutions would already being called for it it were Brady.

Ditto. Sums up my thoughts perfectly.

The nfl didn't even test for HGH until a year or so ago, right? And even now I don't think it's as regular as drug testing because it's a harder test. Given this, it makes all the sense in the world for most players to use it.

So will RG make an adverse inference when Peyton inevitably declines to provide he and his wife's personal data ? get the popcorn

In all honesty, I would be okay with it if this could turn the media's approach to writing about HGH usage around. Unless it is risking further or more significant injury now or in their future, I don't understand why anyone should try to prevent a player from coming back from injury as quickly as possible with the help of medicine & science.

True. Although it was in the 2011 CBA and Harrison got a suspension for admitting HGH usage back in 2007.

Even if many seem to agree it makes sense for players to use it considering the sparse testing and the exceptional likelihood a lot of players would do it, it does carry a suspension by default if proven. If they can prove this report, with the massive reaction in the Saints bounty investigation and the Pats' deflation investigation, it seems like it'd be pure hypocrisy if they don't go hard on this too.

Wouldn't it be a 4 game suspension per the CBA?

You mention you are tired of faux scandal and then introduce a faux scandal.

We rip the NFL reporters for jumping the gun, then when they don't we cry foul against the Pats? Hopefully they learned something over 10 months.

It's a 4-game suspension for using it, but active participation in a scheme to get it is a $25K fine. Or something.

Speaking of which. Has anything come from the colts injury report thing? Or was that swept under the rug by the nfl?

It seems from the last paragraph of the agent article like the Sly guy who is the main source has recanted. So I'm not sure this is going anywhere.
