There is no such excuse in Baltimore. Yes Angelos is a nut -- but he did not undermine the grocery buying or the seeding, planting and cultivating. Yes, Dan did not get along with Buck, but Buck did not undermine Dan's efforts in those areas either.
You're right, Dan wasn't undermined by Angelos. He was castrated after he tried to leave for TOR. Angelos basically stripped away Dan's power. I mean there's every indication that Chris Davis was an Angelos signing. Then Angelos brought in Brady Anderson to do some job that no one knows. Sometimes he's working with players and sometimes he's negotiating with free agents; but one thing everyone knows is that Brady goes right to Angelos. Brady took credit for Cobb and Cashner and he says he wants more decision-making power.

There's absolutely no organizational flow chart in Os land except Angelos gets final say.

Plus, the fact that Angelos wouldn't allow Dan to go to the IFA market and didn't give him proper scouting resources must have made Montreal seem like a big-market team.

I don't care about Duquette either way, but Angelos absolutely undermined Duquette, he doesn't allow him to sign international players for starters.

Edit: WBCD said it in much more detail as I was typing.

Sure, all fair. Their starting pitching has always been pretty terrible. But this isn't the Redskins where the team's asshole owner has destroyed the team repeatedly and at every level -- from the FO, to the roster, to the team culture. In that case, you can see why fans are just giving up.

But that's not the case here. The Orioles have had some success. They hired a pretty good GM in Duquette. The hired a really good coach in Showalter (loathe as I am to admit it). And as a result, they've been a pretty competitive team the last 5 years. Sure it's all been in spite of Angelos, but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened. It *has* happened -- and pretty recently. So I don't really get the agita from the likes of @jon abbey and Mallory Rubin. They traded a potential cornerstone player and the team is falling apart again. Yeah, it's because they fucked up. And yeah it sucks for fans. But it happens.
Whoa, let's not get crazy here. If you're simply looking at playoffs, the Os made the playoffs three times since 1997 and the WAS football team has gone 4 times since 2005 so by that measure Snyder would be a better owner than Angelos.

In addition to the various organizational failures of the Os that I mentioned above, think of all of the people that Angelos has run out Baltimore: Jon Miller (how many people run an announcer out of town?); Davey Johnson; Frank Wren; Andy MacPhail; Pat Gillick. Cal Ripken does virtually nothing with the Os as far I understand. Mike Mussina never looked back when he left the club. Etc. etc. etc.

There's a reason why Angelos had to hire Duke from his baseball academy - no person currently in the industry in their right mind would work for Angelos.

Angelos has destroyed the Os reputation on every level. Is he worst than Snyder? I have no idea. I'm glad I don't have to root for either team though.
