The one thing you do have to wonder is whether Lucic has seen enough of Neely's lackadasical efforts, and will try to move Neely this offseason. Lucic may see some of Neely in him, but Lucic always seemed to show up at the big moments. I'm not sure you can say the same of Neely thus far in his career.

Besides him playing like shit (along with his center) which I agree with, I don't really see the issue with what he said. Lucic has an issue with Weiss (and apparently Emelin) and when the time is right, ie not in game 7 of a playoff series, he's going to get them. I'm a little more disgusted that Weiss felt the need to tattle to the media about some on-ice chirping.

But by all means trade Lucic for Evander Kane, or Max Pac, or Brayden Schenn.

Is Schenn available?

Lucic furrowing his brow like Napoleon Dynamite during the post-game interview was annoying. I like competitive players, but he could have sought advice from David Backes about how to handle such a situation.

Doesn't righteous indignation get a little boring?  I mean, c'mon, an athlete overreacted and didn't handle himself properly in the moments after a bitter defeat.  Lucic doesn't win the Ms. Manners or Jean Ratelle Class Award, but the degree of panty bunchiness, as evidenced by Steve Buckley's column this morning among other things, is a little over the top.

I know this is what we do when people go off script.  I know that Lucic sucked in that series and would have been well advised to use his tough guy act when it counted rather than when it didn't.  But holy hell, the guy made a mistake.  Happens.

I get the whole sanctity of the handshake line. You get to talk shit, play dirty, flop, whine, cup check with a club, etc... for 7 games, and then you get to go through the line and go full Eddie Haskell on the guys you've been tormenting. I get that its been happening for years, but I suspect over the years (before HD TV) a few frustrated losing team players have looked guys straight in the eyes and said "I'm going to fucking kill you next year, you motherfucker!"  Lucic got caught being unclassy while he was still on the ice. Weiss broke an unwritten rule by taking it off the ice. I just hope he keeps his word, works his ass off, and brings it the next time we line up with the Habs.

The Media wants it both ways... They complain when a guy like BB gives them nothing and gives pat answers to every banal question they ask..because it makes them actually have to work.  On the other hand when a player does something actually human...something everyone can actually relate to, the article is 'Oh the humanity!! Someone acted like their actual age and didn't act professional!!!'

How many times has Buckley or DS mailed in a column or written almost one of these two story lines?  It's the lazy reporter's wheelhouse.

Now if someone were to say he should've been a little angrier on the ice..then maybe.  But, one thing that seemed to be happening all series is Canadiens flying out of control at any physical contact and getting penalties for it... In the postseason I can imagine how that totally threw Lucic and the B's off their game since any check almost equalled a 2 minute penalty.  Now next season Looch may not hold up in a regular season game and Weise, the tattle tale that he is, wants everyone to know that Looch has put him on notice...man I hate the Canadiens.

A former player that I greatly respect, Jeremy Roenick's view is that what Lucic said has no place in the handshake line. That is the way I felt as well, if you couldn't offer congratulations just shake hands and keep your mouth shut. That being said, does Lucic have a future with the Bruins? I feel he does. He is still the guy that turned around almost entirely on his own game 7 against Toronto last year. People are underestimating Montreal's skill and the importance of how injuries played in this series. Personally, I think he should be back.

Has it been said how much of a fuckface Dale Weise is yet?

I mean, I don't particularly care what Lucic did, since I don't particularly care about super-duper sportsmanship points, but Weise is a fuckface, completely independent of going to the media to complain about how mean Milan was to him.

Given 50% of the people here have spelled his name correctly, I'm guessing no. To refresh, this is the former Canuck that drew an unsportsmanlike when he shook his gloves at Thornton and then didn't dance because he was tired from an earlier fight.

In short, fuck Weiss. Both the Stephen and Dale varieties. Thank you for bringing peace and clarity URI.

Chiming in as a bandwagon fan who is SLOWLY learning about the game............

I agree with those who said Lucic was dogshit in the series, and he had some brass balls calling someone out in that handshake line.  He was a step slow to everything.  What would his value be in a trade?  In my uninformed opinion the Bruins lack of team speed was a factor in the loss.  Maybe if they could get a guy for Lucic that wasn't quite as accomplished, but was a little faster and younger could help them.

For the most part though, I thought the team fought hard and played well.  SO many pipes were hit I lost count.  Price got hot at the absolute worst time.  Bruins took too many penalties in game 7, and some of the calls seemed dubious, especially the one where Marshand (who played like shit the whole series) sprayed snow on the goalie.  You can't do that?  And if you can't, is it really something that should be penalized in a game 7?  Eh, maybe thats sour grapes.

I LOVE the coach and the general makeup of the team.  The goalie is strong, the defense is stout, and the offense is potent.  Maybe a tweek here or there to give them a lift in a series like the last is the ticket. (getting a bit faster would help a ton IMO)  Since I can't name many players not on the Bruins roster I have no idea who they might target.  I would love to hear ideas from those who do.

And finally Where was today's Cary Price in the Bruins series?  That game really pissed me off today.  Maybe the Canadians will come back and win it, but they sure as shit looked like they gave all they had against the Bruins last series and didn't have much left tonight.
If Price is only half as bad as he was today, the Bruins would have advanced. And if 1/4th of those pucks that hit the pipe (13 IIRC) went in they also advance.

I think we all have it backwards here with Lucic in the handshake line.  Don Cherry went back and watched the handshake line and he seems to think Markov said something to Lucic to set him off.  Lucic is taking a lot of crap, but he may have been reacting instead of acting.

Doubtful as Lucic is adamant that whatever is said stays on the ice.

There's a difference between quoting what was said, and saying "you only saw one side of the argument, I was reacting to them."

Since the incident his words and actions have been that of someone who did exactly what everyone thinks he did, and he's fine with that.

What Markov was believed to have said was reported on the next morning.

To his credit he looked the rest of them in the eye!

And is it Weise or Weiss? Isn't it spelled Weise in the box score?

Oh absolutely.  I think Lucic simply doesn't believe he needs to explain anything about who said what during the handshakes or justify his reaction while facing a media question. I'm fully on board with his position here.

This is the post that really, really confused me regarding said spelling.
