Tito vs. Theo ... I'm torn.
Not me. Tito did nothing wrong when he left except that his time was up. I think Theo deserves at least some portion of the blame for how his time in Boston ended. I love them both for what they did for us but Tito wins because he was done in by being too much of a players manager. Your results may vary.

So the Fox talking head says Lester had done this before: taking a team that hadn't been there in a long time to the World Series.

Three years is a long time?

Lester and Miller LCS MVPs. Great job John, Tom and Larry.
How different would the Red Sox be if John Henry kicked Larry to the curb after 2011 instead of letting Theo walk? We'll never know. I guess he thought Larry could help him get a stadium out of that Olympic bid that was never going to fucking happen.

On one hand, I agree with this, but on the other hand, the Cubs FO isn't just Theo, it's also Hoyer and McLeod and I have absolutely nothing against either one of those guys and would be quite happy to see them associated with breaking a 108-year drought.

I believe there were more involved in the Lester decision ie Bill James. Using their stats to devalue pitchers in their 30s backfired on Lester who has qualities beyond just ability. Meanwhile they as we al know threw that thinking out the window in regards to Price and so far that decision also not in the win column by far.

I know the cold take crowd will kill me for this, but I can't resist:

100% true. But he backed the wrong horse in the Larry- Theo split after 2011. He picked the money guy over the baseball guy.
Or he was loyal to his guy when the cocky kid made a power play. And Theo's ego wanted to leave his hometown team and try to break the Cubs drought.

Henry had a right to do what he did and Epstein had a right to do what he did. And we got another championship in 2013, and Theo might get his this year. And we're good and they're good. Life moves on, and I'm fine with the way things evolved. But that's just me.

Pete Rose is a clown commentator but I feel like A-Rod = Bill Belichick of MLB. He knows so much about the game and listening to him talk baseball is so enjoyable.
But I agree, screw the player A-Rod.

The Red Sox ownership ought to be ashamed tonight. As Finn said, they doubled down on LL over Theo and Tito and now don't even employ LL. AWFUL.

Epstein is a great GM and I wish he was still here, but he's also on a ridiculous streak of things working out to their absolute best-case scenario. Arrierta and Hendricks turning into aces out of nowhere in consecutive years. Their purposeful sucking rewarded with Rizzo/Bryant/Schwarber falling into their laps in the draft. Dexter Fowler turning down more money from Baltimore and putting up a .392 OBP. Scoring on his long term FA deals (Lackey/Lester/Zobrist). The Heyward deal looks like a notable miss, perhaps a sign of things to come? There are plenty of alternate universes where Arrieta and Hendricks are Clay Buchholz and Henry Owens. It's actually much like his first few years here.
