I'm no Patriots fan, but watching the reactions of other teams' fans has been hilarious.

The other equally funny thing is Patriots fans thinking they actually need Brown to be the Super Bowl favorites. Like that wasn't true before the Brown signing.

Holy shit Chiefs fans suck. They know they can’t criticize the Pats without being huge hypocrites wrt Tyreek. So they defend him by saying it was bad journalism and his baby mama extorting him. Incredible the mental gymnastics people are willing to do just to hate the Pats. I love it

The way I see it, the benign -and likeliest- version is that this is a guy who has some serious mental issues. If this is the case, it's hard to see how the Pats curtail the sort of behavior he's displayed over the past couple of months.

The malign version is that he orchestrated all of this to get out of his contract. This seems far-fetched to me, but if that's the case, that dude - great receiver or not- is a Grade A asshole. No one deserves to be treated like that.

We ll see.

It’s crazy that there are people out there who think the league wants the Pats to win. A four game suspension for nothing and two first round picks taken over, at worst nothing and at best foot faults, but, yeah, Goodell and Kraft are in cahoots.

Sam Gilbert would like one with you.
C'mon Man, 10 National Championships in 12 years, 7 in a row, 4 undefeated seasons in an era when sports boosters like Gilbert ran amuck at many Div.I programs...Wooden was a brilliant coach and this was an unmatched dynasty. But, we digress.

I am a lifelong Steelers fan and loved AB until things went South and got untenable. When he's in the right mind frame and is allowed some room to be who he truly is the man flourishes. I think BB knows that is the player they are getting. Sucks for the rest of the league.

Who was treated poorly?
The Raiders and Gruden and their GM. I know people shit on them, but I sort of like the guy and I feel sorry for him bending over backwards trying to salvage what was a major acquisition for him. Either way even the Raiders -incompetent or not- don't deserve that shitshow they endured.

And you know, if Brown orchestrated this, it's a little bit like getting together with a woman who cheated on her boyfriend to be with you. Yeah, maybe it's a one time thing for her, or you don't want a long-term relationship with her (whioh is the apt analogy for the Pats in this situation), but chances are that a person who behaves that way towards another will also behave that way towards you. You may point out that it's a one time thing for the Pats and a a move with no downside for the Pats, and that maybe true, but that won't change the fact that Brown behaved like a grade A asshole.

I assume we’ll determine how much sympathy Gruden and Mayock deserves when we see how Brown does under Bill. Gruden touts himself as this great motivator as men, so if he couldn’t Jedi mind trick AB, then lolboohoo.

I do feel for the Raider fans though. I always liked that team, and they looked like a burgeoning dynasty before Carr’s injury a couple years ago.

I can't imagine what cap gymnastics Bill is going through right now. he needs to free like 9M in cap space, right?

also wouldn't be surprised if Meyers is squeezed out just because Gunner can PR all season. but I was also on the "didn't want Brown even at zero cost" train, so I don't know what Jedi Bill will do.

It cost them a third and fifth, and you can recover from that easily enough. Nobody appreciates being abused, but the Raiders are better off than they were 24 hours ago.

There is a lot of chicken counting going on in the best reviving corps ever? thread. I am as excited as the next guy, but realistically:

The odds on BOTH AB and Gordon keeping on the straight and narrow are ...

Y’all weren’t lying about the Chiefs forum. It’s hilarious

Edit: holy shit, the hubris on this bunch. They’re awfully convinced they’re the kings of the conference after one year that ended in January, at home, to the Patriots.

At home
Yes, the WR corps looks great, but Brown and Gordon are both high-ceiling/low-floor prospects in that they both could be gone in a moment for reasons entirely apart from their football skills. I hope we can hang onto Myers and Gunner; I worry that we might need them both on the roster before too long.

So I’m hosting a block party on my street today. Couple hundred people. As this news broke an audible cackle came up from the crowd. It was a wave as people were told. It was really something to hear. The reaction was maniacal laughter.

“We’re gonna be ok guys. This is not 07 Brady, this is the same Brady that couldn’t throw the ball farther than 10 yards in the offs. It’s all gonna be alright, this is still our year.”

That’s from chiefs planet. They should probably let Dorsett’s TD know about that whole “farther than 10 yards” thing.

Sorry for game threading but this is stupid and I’ve been cackling so much over the last 4 hours. I’m so happy.
I straight up cackled like the friggin joker for a good 10 minutes when I first found out.

Cackle is the perfect word. I feel like a Bond villain. The conversation with fellow Pats fan isn’t even about how good we’re going to be or how much we’ll score. Just cackling at the joyful fuck you of it all.

Antonio is also a good punt returner
