Martin Atkinson is wasting no time ensuring us all that we're going to continue to have refs on display all season. Giving out a card to Pep in the f'n community shield lol
I think the yellow was for his outfit. Cargo pants and white T-shirt?

Ha. But to be fair, what the hell was Pep worked up about? Gomez went up first, Silva kicked him.

That cardigan was sharp as hell too

Atkinson having an awful match - not forcing Sterling to stand back 10 yards prior to Salah hitting the post, then not whistling it down when he encroached and blocked the FK, was something a high school ref enforces

... why did Atkinson stop play there? At his discretion to stop it if the ball hits him?

Pep and Robertson jawing lol

5 A+ chances wasted by Salah today - Stones-esque by Walker on the last one to prevent a goal

Shaqiri with another great chance at the death - penalties it is

No Milner for penalties is a shame. Wijnaldum's was pretty poor

I love the shots of fans unable to watch like this is to decide a CL final or something lol

Alisson should be saving Zinchenko's penalty after guessing that way, it was a good height for him. Similar situation on Jesus's winner, but the delay step threw Alisson off balance it seemed

Fire Klopp, trade Salah, etc

Looking forward to seeing Norwich in action. They played with great style last season, hope they bring that moxie up with them.

Good to recoup that for him, I guess. Kelleher probably isn't up for the backup role quite yet, Çakir being a few years older is a better fit. Pipe dream (selfishly) is Çakir puts in a good word for Majid Hosseini as the new Klavan

I saw rumblings that Adrian is lined up to replace Migs. I’m okay with that, especially if it keeps A. Becker happy.

Wilson loaned out to Bournemouth. That’s a nice step up for the kid and a good situation to continue developing. But I had convinced myself he was adequate cover for Mane & Salah...
With Wilson and (presumably) Kent loaned out they would seem to be rather light on forwards. Could a late incoming transfer be in the cards? (Timo Werner would be perfect)

They've said that Kent isn't going out on loan, either permanent move or he stays.

Bullet dodged on Alisson, sounds like a 4-6 week recovery from a torn calf rather than a ruptured Achilles

Super Cup in Istanbul on Wednesday, expecting a rotated midfield (Keïta, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Milner) with Matip, Mané, and Shaqiri featuring

Oxlade-Chamberlain has stunk out loud in the Super Cup thus far. Need to see Firmino or Origi in the second half

If Adrian doesn't do the Jerzy Dudek dance when Liverpool are in a penalty shootout in Istanbul, I'll be disappointed.

I didn't even know what this Super Cup thing was. This is stupid. It should not be. Everton chatrooms are pleased to see another fixture's worth of wear and tear on the Reds, not to mention a midweek flight to Istanbul, but honestly it would suck if anyone got hurt in this thing. Football needs fewer crap competitions.

Genuine relief I think for Liverpool .. they were shite in the first half .. better from then on but still nowhere near their best. I thought Chelsea played really well .. they are going to have to study this offside rule thing though.

It's a nice moment for Adrian and good for the team psyche. Don't want to lose 2 of your first 3 games, both on shootouts, even if those games ultimately don't mean much. Another trophy, as minor as if is, is always fun.

Cool moment for Andy Lonergan as well, brought in as an extra keeper because of the Alisson injury, picks up a European winner's medal at 35 years old after bouncing around the lower leagues his whole career.

First win for an English team in this competition since...Liverpool in 2005.

Something was bothering me as the players were walking around with the trophy after the game. Then it finally hit me. The trophy keeps growing.

Might be Lonergan or Kelleher (if fit) on Saturday - Adrián was injured when a pitch invader slid in after the shootout victory

I imagine Mignolet twitching and laughing maniacally while eating a box of pears
I feel like there's some sort of debt being paid with these injuries... Or a Sturridge curse.
Wait, there’s more!

Liverpool will again be without the injured Naby Keita when they visit Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.
"[He's] not available. It's a muscle thing," Klopp said when asked about the 24-year-old at his pre-match news conference.

"We don't know exactly how long it will take, but he's not available."
It’s even more awesome when you consider neitherof Keita’s nor Alisson’s injures involved contact.

{evertonfanboards}

that's what they get for Klopp running around the pitch like a loon, the Kopite fans are just following his lead
