I was going to ask if anyone here was booking through FSM for the LFC/Tottenham match, but given that it sold out in a nano-second, I guess it is more approriate to ask if anyone was successful??

Watching Bobby Duncan's agent shit all over himself has been entertaining. He's trying to get Liverpool to either increase Duncan's wages or sell him, which is an odd hill to die on given Duncan signed a year ago.

His homophobic, sexist, and ableist past tweets are coming to the forefront and now being deleted.

He got into with Carragher on Twitter as well who actually knows the kid through Stevie G. This agent wants to be the next Mino Raiola or something.

Duncan got his transfer - £1.8m plus 20% sell on. Good business, but unfortunate how this all went down. Hope his agent finds it was all worth it.

His agent had to disable his twitter account in the end and doesn't look to have been involved in the transfer... seems like just desserts in the end, and Duncan gets his desired move (despite having signed on about a year ago, and still being 6-7 in the pecking order at Fiorentina behind Chiesa, Simeone, Meli, Boateng, Sotil, Thereau, Koffi...)

Also sounds like Ryan Kent is on his way to Rangers permanently in a £6-7m deal. Great business for Liverpool there

Fun video on throw ins & their inefficiencies, with a focus on the EPL. Posted here because it explains how Liverpool improves their retention of the ball from throw ins by 50% in one season. Moneyball indeed.

Rhian Brewster and Caoimhin Kelleher both own Champions League and Super Cup winner's medals. Today they both make their senior team debut.

Great day for the kids for sure - I'm a bit torn as the father of one of the young kids I've coached with in the past is the keeper coach for MK Dons.

If anyone is watching I'd love to hear how Brewster, Elliott and Hoever look especially with Hoever out on the wing.

The first goal was a joke, Dons keeper fumbled it into his own net.

Fantastic header by Hoever to make it 2-0 Liverpool.

Elliott should have had a goal but he hit the underside of the crossbar and it bounced out. He's looked solid.

Brewster had a pretty golden chance and missed it. Ox hit the post as well.

Kelleher just made a hell of a save.

Elliott just hit the post again! Tough luck. Would have been the youngest goal scorer in Liverpool history if either of those had gone in.

Jurgen Klopp was hired 4 years ago today.

It has been quite a ride.
I was reading an article today about the game in December 15 where a late Origi goal saved a draw against West Brom and then Klopp took the team to the Kop to thank the fans for staying to the end
, which at that time was not a given. I think that was the turning point for Liverpool

He was pretty widely mocked for that right after it happened, with people saying that a draw at home against West Brom was nothing to celebrate. But it was definitely the start of something.

Well, it should be easier to find Liverpool kits in the store, but man, I dislike so much about Nike. They better not just slap the Liverpool colors onto one of their templates. The last few New Balance kits (talking about the home ones, the away ones have been a mixed bag) have been really good, I think.

Indeed. I will be buying some New Balance LFC stuff this year. It will be the last for a long time.

Some thoughts on the Spurs game ..

.. a well deserved win .. should have scored more goals though. that being said, if Son’s crossbar shot goes in instead it’s a completely different game. Props to Allison for forcing him wide and making the degree of difficulty so much higher.

li thought Lovren was poor .. with today’s news that Matip is going to be out for several weeks I think Klopp has to get Gomez in ASAP.

The fullbacks and Fabinho were magnificent.

Just when I’ve written Jordan Henderson off for good he pops up with good (half) game.

Expecting Keïta, Origi and the Ox back in against Arsenal for the League Cup game. Really hope they give Salah a rest.

And give a Firmino a breather too. He hasn’t been in the mix as much as usual. He’s played a ton of minutes the past 2 years.

Quite the week .. a hugely entertaining and thrilling League Cup win over Arsenal whereupon several youngun’s distinguished themselves. Followed By a breathtaking comeback win over Aston Villa. The club has to be feeling pretty good about itself with the City game looming next week.

A few flies in the ointment however .. Sarah’s nagging ankle injury seems to have reduced his effectiveness. He was a shell against Villa. Looks like Klopp prefers Lovren over Gomez right now (shudder). The one criticism I’ve had with Klopp is that it seems he sets up his teams to “not lose” as opposed to going for it in home games against top sides.

So who starts against City? I’d start an attacking lineup ..

Allison, Robertson, Van Dyke, Gomez, AA, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, The Ox, Mane, Firmino and Salah.

I think Klopp goes with this
Allison, Roberson, Van Dyke, Lovren, AA, Fabinho, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Mane, Firmino, Salah

That’s his “big game” midfield .. control over creativity.

I’d go for the win .. they could win the league this weekend with a win.

they had an 11 point lead in January last year I believe. I don't think they can "win" anything this weekend. And they play on road at LC and MC after the new year. MC will certainly add a CB in the signing period and could easily go on a huge run like they did last year.

I hope they play a lineup similar to the Cup game when they play Genk this week. give VVD, AA, AR, and the front three rest (or sub them in/out)

Wasn't the 11 point lead with a game in hand and they still had City away? And the goal difference was not in their favour.

I think they have to beat City, cos i expect City to win the return fixture. City will always have a better goal difference so Liverpool always have to be a point ahead. I really think if Liverpool beat City this week they win the league. Why? Cos they haven't really hit top form yet, but they're doing what a lot of top top sides do, they win ugly when they need to.

I know this can go two ways, that they are flattering to decieve and that their form will actually dip as opposed to what I hope, which is they really start to click...and by that I mean the front three start putting in 7-8/10 performances week in week out.

Will Klopp go in for a central defender in the Winter window?

Oh, and how fuckin good is Andy Roberton? I almost shed a tear when he scored a rare goal, and never milked the celebration, straight back to business. He ought to be getting more goals. He's got a good shot on him, and when he wants to he can take a player on in the middle of the park...and his run to get to the back stick, that was 3rd gear for him.

I agree they can’t “win” the league this weekend - neither can they lose it. But I think three points moves the likelihood of winning the league from around 50% to 60%

You’ll be fine this weekend. It probably reads like excuse making but City are way too depleted right now. You’ll score at least 3 against any setup City can field in the back. David Silva will miss this match now as well, which probably means Foden will need to play 90 minutes. There’s some risk in that as sometimes a young player takes a game by the scruff of the neck (I still remember Davies running the show for Everton against City in his debut)but it is more probable that Liverpool will harass him into a few errors. I’d happily take a draw and try to close the gap later. In my mind Liverpool should setup to attack because you may not find City this vulnerable again.

FYI, I believe that the Premier League changed their rules this year so that Goal Difference isn't the first tiebreaker, its head-2-head record.

Edit: Yep, I thought I remember seeing it: https://www.premierleague.com/news/1262217

Klopp is the best. When asked about Guardiola calling out Mane for diving, Klopp responds...

I am not sure if Pep spoke in that moment about Sadio or the team – both is not too nice to be honest. I am not too sure if I want to put oil on the fire. I am not interested in these kind of things. And I promise not to mention tactical fouls. That is maybe already too much.

The League Cup quarterfinal will be December 17th, so they will need to split into 2 separate squads to play that game and the Club World Cup in Qatar.

Lousy solution to a problem that didn't have a good solution.

Indeed a problem .. but, at least neither competition is really important. I suspect Klopp will play the kids again .. this time nothing but kids .. in the League Cup and take the senior squad to Qatar.

One also assumes the coaching staff will have to be split as well? Guessing Linders (or the u23 coach) ? How long does it take to fly from England to Qatar? Could Klopp manage both games?

Why would you prioritize the club World Cup over a league cup match? I’d want my team playing to win the domestic trophy over a meaningless competition

The prize for winning the League Cup is £100,000. The prize for winning the Club World Cup is £3.9 million. That might influence their thinking.
