I agree with the general consensus that Moreno is gone - or, at the very least will be second choice. Many rumours about Jonas Hector and Ben Chilwell which will suitably upgrade the position. And Karius is probably an upgrade over Mignolot (who I actually like)

It sounds like another CM/DM is desired .. Which further clouds Henderson's future and bumps Allen or Lucas out the door.

So .. Out .. Skrtel , Benteke, Allen/Lucas, Ballotelli ,Moreno, Mignolet?

In .. Matip, Grujic, Goetze , DM to be named, CB to be named, Hector, Karius, Chilwell? And a loan recall for Markovik.

They'll probably sign a young striker if both Benteke and Ballo leave.

That's a good summers work.

Man I guess I could be surprised but Gotze seems like an audacious target for Liverpool. Writing his name into your lineup is awfully aggressive that would be a massive get.

The rest of the squad all seems pretty replaceable to me. Origi, Can, Lallana, Firmino, Coutinho are all fine players but none are of the quality that they shouldn't be replaced if a player of true quality were available. Gotze would push any of them out of the team without question. Klopp did wonders with this group but it seems to me that Liverpool needs to just be in talent acquisition mode right now regardless of position. Anyone Klopp likes who is willing to come to Liverpool without CL football then sort it out

Goetze has big decisions to make. A move to Liverpool means no European football this year as well as having to hear that he can only be a great player under Klopp. Maybe he cares about that, maybe not. But he will have other options, so this is no sure thing.

Other rumors have Piotr Zielinski already lined up for a transfer, which would add great energy and passing to the midfield. It also seems like Polish players are a "market efficiency" that Klopp likes to tap.

I wouldn't mind if they moved out Sturridge and Henderson to an EPL team looking for quality home grown players. The new TV money likely inflates the costs for English players, so it could be good business to move them to along and reinvest in a few younger players from the continent.

Well, we don't have the budget to bring in 20 new players, so it's probably best to try and replace the biggest lineup holes first. I'm a hell of a lot more concerned about having to play Mignolet, Moreno, and Benteke in big games than I am about Can, Coutinho, or (a healthy) Sturridge.

I think you're definitely underestimating Coutinho and to a lesser extent Firmino. Coutinho could hang almost anywhere, and Firmino had a stellar finish to the season (though he needs to show consistency). Gotze has talent equal to or greater than Coutinho sure, but has not showcased in over a year (although that may be Pep's fault as much as Mario's).

The thing about Coutinho is he can have games where he's totally on it, and we rightly praise him, then games where it doesn't quite work...and we note the inconsistency. But, in this Liverpool team, he's the flare player, the one we most expect to make something happen, to conjure something out of nothing with a moment of quality. In a stronger team, the duties and rsponsibilities are somewhat shared and a 5/10 or 6/10 performance can fly more under the radar cos all players have minor dips in form, week to week, month to month.

Sturridge, Firmino, Coutinho are the brighter lights of the Liverpool Squad. A fit Sturridge is proven in the league, and quite flexible in terms of how and where he can play...although he might not be the happiest playing wide, he has and can do it.

I reckon sell Benteke to a team that wants a target man to get on the end of crosses and hold the ball up. He's only gonna lose value the longer he stays at Liverpool. Liverpool need more quality players, and a much better keeper. Shame they never won the Europa, cos they could have joined the Kante chase. I think he'd have been a good fit for Liverpool, but then i reckon a lot of teams would say the same.

Part of the issue is how many key mercurial players reside in the squad. Coutinho is a prime example- he can carry the team or make it look like they'd be better off with ten men. Sturridge is another. Both guys have a bad habit of trying to shoulder the entire load when things are challenging, often forcing bad dribbles or shots (forget about passing). You'd be happier at times with players with lower ceilings but higher average levels.

Any sale of Benteke will have Liverpool over the barrel. He has no value to the side and any team wanting him will know it. Take the highest bid, even if it's the proverbial bucket of baseballs. At least FSG can ship them to Boston.

It should be interesting to see what Skrtel brings. His physical style isn't going to go down well on the continent.

I still want a keeper coach and a keeper that can actually push Mignolet. It ain't Ward and it ain't Bogdan.

Not that we should ever need an excuse to remember such occasions, but I love the thought of Rafa agreeing to stay on at Newcastle on the 11th anniversary of his greatest moment.

Sakho cleared according to L'Équipe. The fat burning substance was not on the list of banned substances, and no further banned substances were found.

Now if we could just hop in the 2 week time machine..

Outstanding. Many thanks.
I plan on making my first visit to Anfield this fall. Will likely fly into Dublin and take the ferry over to Liverpool. Hoping the scheduling gods grant good match selection for late October-early November.

You know it's like an 8 hour trip, and will probably cost you twice what you can get a flight for on RyanAir.

Looks like Sadio Manè is all but done and Zielinski will follow after. Still tracking Chilwell and Mahmoud Dahoud
Any thoughts or scouting reports on these players?
