So we'll start with a pair of dramatic promotion/relegation ties. Hamburg SV were on their way to being relegated from the Bundesliga for the first time in league history, trailing 1-0 on the day to 2. Bundesliga regular Karlsruhe, but a Marcelo Diaz stoppage time goal kept Hamburg alive in the tie (The first leg in Hamburg ended 1-1), and Nicolai Mueller kept Hamburg up in the 115th minute. Not only has Hamburg never been demoted in 52 years of Bundesliga football, they're the only club in Germany to be able to claim that.

Meanwhile, at the Allianz today, 1860 Munich were 15 minutes from demotion to the 3. Bundesliga, trailing Holstein Kiel 1-0, both on the day and in the tie. But an 80th minute goal from Daniel Adlung and a stoppage time goal from Kai Buelow kept the other Munich side from the depths of hell, and they won the match 2-1.

As far as what that means for 2015/16, Paderborn and Freiburg give way to Darmstadt and Ingolstadt in the 1. Liga, while transient 2. Liga clubs Aalen and Erzgebirge Aue are going down, replaced by former mainstays MSV Duisburg and Arminia Bielefeld. I'll try to carry a bit of the spirit of Ossie in here, but outside of Bayern and Dortmund, I'm not sure there's a whole lot stable in Germany.

So with the Schweinsteiger sale, Bayern changes its DNA even more to Pep.
It´s not even that Pep had anything against Schweinsteiger or Alonso gets a bigger role now (could happen), but that with the loss of Schweinsteiger, a huge leader is gone in an instant (although everyone said he will be back in a club role after his active career ended someday).
Yes, it could have happened that Schweinsteiger didn´t even play much due to being too old/slow or others overtaking him or injury. But this proactive style is not what would have happened with such an important team figure under Hoeness a few years back. With Schweini gone, who can the fans relate to as true bavarians, who are accepted in every second, no matter if they miss the decisive penalty while losing the CL final? There´s Thomas Müller, another van Gaal favorite, who seems to have a few problems with Pep and Philipp Lahm, who is Pep´s darling of the german Bayern players, but who will turn 31 later this year and who has tons of miles on his body.
It´s said that Bayern wants to do everything to keep Pep, who only has one year remaining on his contract and seems undecided what will happen next summer. So Schweini is gone, Pep wants 20yo Joshua Kimmich from Stuttgart (had a buy-back option from Leipzig) and Bayern buys him for about 8mil.Euros. Is he the new Schweini? Definitely not yet. He can run and pass and he can be played vs. Darmstadt or even vs. Stuttgart and Schalke. But do you want a 20yo with zero Bundesliga minutes starting a CL knockout match vs. Atletico´s murderers?

What will be exciting to see is the development of teams like Wolfsburg and Gladbach and how they can cope with the strains of CL group stage matches and the pressure of reaching the knockout rounds. Wolfsburg also faces the dilemma of the Kevin de Bruyne sale, who seemingly wants to leave, after getting new contract after new contract after new contract and basically just got higher wages each time (and higher buy-out clauses). I think they could live with a sale, if they get a ton of money and increase their roster flexibility. Even this summer they refused 60+mil.€, so if he has a great season in CL matches, a decent Euro next year, the money will even go higher, as he still has a few seasons left on his contract.

Dortmund will have a comeback-season, but surely it takes time to adapt to a new coach after such a long time. Basic players such as Reus, Hummels, Subotic, Gündogan, Bender, Schmelzer all played under Klopp for many years, some for 5+. I guess Tuchel knows he gets time from the club, but he wants to win the fans over, too. So winning has to be a priority, too. He has to win even in the first 17 matches and stay in the Top6.
Augsburg, who will play in the Europa League, could face problems to stay up there.
1-6: So there should be Bayern (obviously the odds-on favorite for the title!!), Wolfsburg, Leverkusen, Gladbach, Dortmund, Schalke could finish as the Top6.
7-10: Then there could be the upper midfield of Augsburg, Hoffenheim (they bought a young Brazilian as a sub for Firmino, but that´s a big loss at the moment), Frankfurt, Bremen, who could also fight for the Europa League spots, but also drop down to the lower midfield spots.
11-12: Mainz, Köln made solid moves and should be in the middle of the table, if they aren´t overachieving and free from injury crisis.
13-18: Hamburg, Hannover, Stuttgart, Darmstadt, Hertha, Ingolstadt should be in trouble this upcoming season. Every team (other than Darmstadt) has the potential to reach 45 points and stay out of the relegation zone (if you have less than 35p, you´re in deep trouble), due to their experience or financial opportunities. But each of those teams proved over the last few seasons that they have big problems in making the right transfers and getting the right coaches/people behind the bench. Darmstadt is just a small-market team that was lucky 3 seasons ago to stay in 3rd league (another team didn´t get the license!) then they won promotion in 3rd league, then they won promotion in 2nd league and now they should be seen as the favorites to go down instantly, but not without a fight.

The biggest thing for the future is to keep improving the youth development (which is still miles ahead of the Premier League) and get a better TV deal in the next 5 to 10 years. It´s just impossible to stay competitive for teams like Gladbach, Schalke, Leverkusen,...even if they get money from additional sponsorships, but if Premier League teams get four times the money each season. It´s nice that a club like Mainz sells Shinji Okazaki for 9.5mil. to the Premier League. But the guy is 29 years old, may have three decent years left and goes to Leicester, who finished 14th, just avoided relegation and can spend money like they are...Leverkusen and reached the CL. Developping young players for the half team is a great base, which obviously is working much better for Bundesliga teams than for Premier League teams. But if they (EPL teams) can buy such players without long-term financial problems, something has to change in the Bundesliga, else the Premier League will be the dominant one in the CL knockout stages again.

(I also wonder why the Premier League isn´t doing some kind of licensing on their Premier League teams regarding youth development, youth coaching, etc., to improve their youth players and teams, but that´s a different point.)

Thanks for the post, Schnerres. I don't read much about the Bundesliga, so you've become my one go-to source.

It looks like Ian Joy will still work for BeIn and YES. He's going to be a busy guy this fall.

As noted in the article, this is part of a global deal between the league and Fox. Great partnership for both sides and will give the league much more exposure than Gol TV.

The article also notes that Fox will be streaming select matches on Youtube for free. I will never get over how much access to matches has changed. When I was an undergrad in the mid-90s, I would drive 90 minutes to my hometown to watch matches that were only available on C Band satellite. The 1994 Champions League final was on pay per view. That was considered a step forward. Even as recently as 2004, the final of the Euro was only on PPV. I can now watch an avalanche of games right from my phone.

In addition to the 58 games on FS1, apparently there will be another 60 on FS2 for those who get that channel (not me).

I'm curious to see what the ratings will be.  Americans have proven that they'll watch Liga MX, EPL, El Clasico, and Champions League in sizable numbers.  Anything in the international club world outside of that is uncertain territory.

It's funny, BeIn has been running ads trumpeting "their" leagues, Serie A, La Liga, and Ligue 1, and I was thinking it sucks how fans weren't able to watch as much Bayern, Dortmund (2 years ago anyway), or Wolfsburg last year. FS1 has a high bar to match with BeIn, who does a great job, at least with Ray and Phil and solid production, but I'll take anything more mainstream at this point. It's amazing how even my gf got into the Premier League primarily because of matches available on weekend mornings (and last summer's WC helped a lot too).

tl;dr - yay!

Even in your example, Liga MX has a distinctly different audience than the UEFA broadcasts. For example, there is no buzz in our forum over Tigres playing in the Libertadores final.  I'm expecting Germany will start off crater low. Maybe they can build over time if the audience gets familiar with the clubs and the personalities.

Incredible finish to the German Super Cup match between Wolfsburg and Bayern.

Bendtner scores an 89' equalizer after a great run and assist by de Bruyne (great ball to free KdB by Guilavogui as well).

Bendtner then scores the decisive penalty in a 5-4 penalty shootout.

I don´t know if Pep is just outsmarting himself, but it was not the first time that he picked Thomas Müller to leave the field. Yes, i might have written a few words in other threads (WC14 possibly) that i love Müller as a player probably as much as van Gaal. And again, it bites Pep in the ass that he picked Müller to be subbed off when the game ends with penalties (like in DFB Pokal semis vs. Dortmund). I don´t believe the argument for the minor importance of the Supercup in Germany, that´s obvious, but i´m sure they wanted to win - it´s just now the argument for useing the rotation system for the offense (and failing) again.

OTOH: If de Bruyne stays, Wolfsburg can beat Bayern now with regularity. I still believe the biggest task will be to stay focused, concentrated and win the easy matches: they already played the best Rückrunde (the 2nd matches against each team) last season, but they trailed Bayern by too many points already at the break due to many lapses against lesser opposition.

Might be worth noting that Fox Soccer2Go has every Bundesliga game available for streaming.  This is a pretty nice value-add if you were already a subscriber - now you get UEFA Champions League and Europa League games on Tuesday , Wednesday, and Thursday, plus the Bundesliga on the weekends.  Not sure if all the games will have English commentary.  The streaming product works OK on PC, tablet, and phone, but it's nowhere near as good as mlb.tv.

Of course, my Bundesliga team got relegated last year, so this doesn't do me a whole lot of good.

This weekend was full of action in Germany:
The teams from 1st Bundesliga had their 1st official matches in the DFB Cup, while the lower league teams (from 2nd Bundesliga and lower) already started their leagues - which to me is the perfect scenario for some early cup surprises.

Notable matches:
-SV Elversberg (3rd Bundesliga) - Augsburg 1-3 (ET)
10-man Elversberg, who has a big sponsor and hopes for a 2nd Bundesliga promotion led until the last few minutes, but Europa League participant Augsburg fought back and was heavily pushing for the win in ET, Chelsea prospect Abdul Hahman Baba played the 120mins as left back amid growing transfer rumors.

-Viktoria Köln (Regionalliga / 4th Liga) - Union Berlin 2-1
As here are some Union supporters(??), that might be of interest: Köln also has a sponsor who pushes for the 3rd/2nd Bundesliga, so they are no easy opponent and have some former Bundesliga players/prospects on their team. Union led 1-0 at the half, but Viktoria stormed back and Union wasn´t able to convert their early chances in the 2nd half.

-SV Meppen (Regionalliga / 4th Liga) - 1.FC Köln 0-4
Anthony Modeste, who was just signed from Hoffenheim, scored a hattrick, gave his entire dress to the supporters and walked off in a towel.
(In other news, the ref had a big effect in this game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImTVMWxAPPY
At the 2:50 mark, you can see the attack, that leads to the 2-0 for Köln penalty+red card (penalty was correct, but no red, ball was going out of bounds.)

-Stuttgarter Kickers (3rd Bundesliga) - VfL Wolfsburg 1-4
No trouble for Wolfsburg. Their scorers: New signing Max Kruse (the one with the camouflage Lamborghini), Bas Dost, KdB, Lord Bendtner.

-MSV Duisburg (2nd Bundesliga) - Schalke 04 0-5
That´s a derby and Duisburgs fans also behaved like that: Some of them rolled out a paper that said "2011? Even Rudi can´t remember!" and was about the 2011 Cup final (also won 5-0 for Schalke vs. Duisburg) and mentions former Schalke club boss Rudi Assauer, who suffers from dementia. Duisburg and many supporters apologised to Assauer, who regularly visits Duisburg matches (lives close), although he has lots of health trouble.
Game was really not close at all.

-Würzburger Kickers (3rd Liga) - Werder Bremen 0-2 (ET)
Bremen were really lucky (offside call for Würzburg that should have been a goal in regular time) to survive that round and go to 2nd.

-SSV Reutlingen (Oberliga / 5th Liga) - Karlsruher SC 3-1
Karslruhe just missed (in last minutes and ET!!) the promotion into the Bundesliga and is also off to a bad start in the 2nd Bundesliga (2 matches, 2 losses), and now this:
Reutlingen, the absolute outsider in this match with their coach Georgi Donkov (former Bundesliga player) delivered a big fight in this derby - problem for Karlsruhe: they lost their minds! They conceded three penalties, which led to all three goals and which led to two red cards (absolutely deserved!) and another red card on a stomp next to the middle line. Additionally, their coach complained about the red card for the stomping and was dismissed, too. They fought back after the 2-0 and with nine players made it 2-1, but lost anyways.
In the interviews, their player said, it was ridiculous decisions (reds+pens), while their coach said, he cannot comment on every situation, but there were some bad decisions and a hard line against his team.
http://www.ardmediathek.de/tv/Sport-im-Dritten/Reutlingen-wirft-den-KSC-aus-dem-Pokal/SWR-Baden-W%C3%BCrttemberg/Video?documentId=29978222&bcastId=249964
(I have to admit, I hate Karlsruhe.)

-Carl Zeiss Jena (Regionalliga / 4th Liga) - Hamburger SV 3-2 (ET)
Jena always led (1-0, 2-1), while HSV always fought back, somehow. The 1-1 from Olic was an irregular goal, as the ball had already crossed the line and was out of bounds, but the refs assisstant didn´t wave the flag, play continued and it was 1-1. The 2-2 was scored in the 94th minute and HSV made it to the ET, where Jena still was dominating through a hard fight in hot weather and won deservingly.

-Rot-Weiss Essen (Regionalliga / 4th Liga) - Fortuna Düsseldorf (2nd Bundesliga) 1-3 (pens)
Essen dominated the match, but didn´t score. Düsseldorf got a player sent off and still survived. As the 120mins went, so did the penalties: missed shots everywhere! Essen missed 3 of 4, Düsseldorf missed 2 of 5, so it ended at 1-3 and Düsseldorf somehow surviving.

-SpVgg Unterhaching (Regionalliga / 4th Liga) - FC Ingolstadt 2-1
In this bavarian derby, the former Bundesliga team (do you remember, when Ballack scored his own goal for Leverkusen, to deny them their Bundesliga title? That was at Unterhaching, yes!) won at the newly promoted Bundesliga team. Might be good for them, as they don´t need any money and can concentrate on the fight against relegation.

-Hansa Rostock (3rd Bundesliga) - 1.FC Kaiserslautern (2nd Bundesliga) 4-5 (pens)
That´s a former Bundesliga duel, but now those teams are in lower leagues. Both had stable defenses, with Rostock dominating the chances and shots on goal. Kaiserslautern keeper Müller was the best player on the pitch and so the match went scoreless into extra time and penalties. The sad fact: Former Kaiserslautern player Ziemer, who scored some very important goals for them against relegation, was the only player to miss his penalty. Good for Kaiserslautern: He plays for Rostock since 2014, so Germany´s best team, the Roten Teufel (Red Devils) from Kaiserslautern go to the 2nd round!!!

-VfL Osnabrück (3rd Bundesliga) - RB Leipzig (2nd Bundesliga) match stopped
The score was 1-0 for Osnabrück, when the ref was struck by a firelighter from the home teams fans. An Osnabrück player, who was warming up, went onto the pitch and talked smack to some Leipzig player (Selke), the ref went close to them and he was struck. I guess, the fan wanted to throw it at Selke (Leipzig). The match was instantly broken up and now the DFB talks about what happens. Leipzig already stated, they offer a replay, but i guess that´s just a promo, because they know the DFB decide this how they want. Either they do a replay or Leipzig is through. (Besides: Leipzig is hated everywhere in Germany, because they have huge money from their sponsor Red Bull and ran through the lower leagues and are huge favourites for the 2nd Bundesliga this season).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRwJnLVQneo

-VfR Aalen(3rd Bundesliga) - FC Nürnberg(2nd Bundesliga) 1-2 (pens)
7 out of 10 penalties were missed!
That´s absolutely great, they missed about everywhere...The keeper of Aalen held them, their players shot in the sky, slid and missed, it´s almost funny...
Go to the 7 minute mark of the video: http://mediathek.daserste.de/Sportschau-live/N%C3%BCrnberg-gewinnt-Elfmeterschie%C3%9Fen/Das-Erste/Video?documentId=29998210&topRessort&bcastId=723230

Meanwhile, this might finally be the year 1860 go down again. It's not like they were blown out in their losses to 2.Bundesliga newcomers Heidenheim (away) and Bundesliga shuttle team SC Freiburg (home). In fact, both matches had the same score: 1-0 losses. The thing is that they haven't scored on their own net yet, while the two killer goals were an own-goal and a penalty.

Next couple of matches are tough, too, with Nuremberg away and Union at the Allianz, so you're going down or something, jkempa.

First, Union have to face Schnerres's Kaiserslautern this weekend!

I can't say that I'm some big Union fan though. I've still never even seen them play. I just really liked what I heard about the team, stadium, history, etc. Bobby Wood going there didn't hurt either.

I'm thinking that I'll need to make a trip over to Berlin (which is one of my favorite cities) to see an der altern Försterei next year.

A quick look at various online bookies shows the odds of Bayern winning the Bundesliga are anywhere from 1/10 to 1/25.

At least Spain has 2 teams fighting it out...

It could be worse; the first three sites I checked had Celtic as 1/25, 1/33, and 1/40 favorites to win the league.

In the most interesting news of the opening match, Thomas Müller explained in the aftermatch interview that newcomer Costa´s other name is pronounced Doglas, not Douglas the french pronounced Parfumerie (which we can often see in Germany) and neither Douglas the english edition (like actor Michael Douglas turned around), but it´s Do-glasss (like the barking dog minus -g + the bin glassss with as many sss as possible).

In other news, he played a really good game and created many chances (+Müllers goal+scored one). The guy is what you need on the wings, if one of Ribery/Robben is injured or needs a break and can become one of the best wingers, I guess. HSV played with 6 defenders and then you need such fast, creative guys who can create with the ball at their feet and score. I didn´t think he would become involved so soon.
Vidal had a quiet game, but what should he do, there isn´t much to roam in MF against such an opponent. He seemed to improve with additional time.

After the 1st match between Bayern and HSV, the 2nd round of the DFB Pokal was drawn.

The 1st great match was Schalke vs. Gladbach and then nothing big happened until everybody in the drawing round in the TV studio looked at each other when the final two lottery balls were in the pot and Wolfsburg and Bayern weren´t drawn, yet! :q:

Boargh, classical fuggin Bayern luck.

Wolfsburg trails @Köln, makes it 1-1 (Bendtner), then de Bruyne misses a 100% 1vs.1 alone against the keeper Horn (that´s another young guy on the list for international top clubs!) in additional time and the match ends 1-1.
Hoffenheim leads 1-0 vs.Bayern early, Müller makes it 1-1, Boateng gets sent off on a 2nd yellow (handball in the box), while Neuer saves the penalty. In the 90th minute, Lewandowski makes it 2-1 for Bayern.
FR:
Hertha - Bremen 1-1
SAT:
Hoffenheim - Bayern 1-2
Schalke - Darmstadt 1-1
Hannover - Leverkusen 0-1
Frankfurt - Augsburg 1-1
Köln - Wolfsburg 1-1
Tonight:
Hamburg - Stuttgart
Tomorrow:
Ingolstadt - Dortmund
Gladbach - Mainz

Really surprised by Darmstadts results and performances so far. It was just 2 points, but they showed, they can get results and they could survive. OTOH, vs.Hannover(home) and Schalke(away), they should have taken the three points vs. Hannover to have a better situation. But can´t be sad about their match today and the two points obviously are alright.

Obviously a little early to call anything "must-win," but Hamburg really needed that one and managed to escape at the end, scoring two late ones to beat 10-man Stuttgart 3-2. HSV trailed twice in the game. That's a huge club (sponsored by Emirates) that's only stayed up through the relegation playoffs the last two seasons.

Bayern very fortunate to escape with 3 points this weekend. Hoffenheim gave them a very good game. Boateng got a terrible RC in the 2nd half, Hoffenheim didn't take advantage of a penalty, and Bayern netted a goal in the 89th minute to preserve points. On the positive side, Douglas Costa looks like an absolute monster at FB.

In a big match against Bayer Leverkusen today, Guardiola played without central defenders.

Looking at the player maps here, their effective formation looked something like this.

Douglas--Lewa--Muller---Robben
---------Thiago-----Vidal--------
Bernat--Alaba--Alonso--Lahm
--------------Neuer--------------

4-2-4 with four true forwards, two attacking midfielders, and a backline consisting of two attacking fullbacks and two passing midfielders (or midfielder/fullback, in Alaba's case) in the center.

Pep is clearly the most interesting tactical tinkerer in today's game, at least at the top level.  Although it would probably hurt Arsenal (because he'd go elsewhere), I'd like to see what he would do in the Premier League someday, without a huge talent advantage over every opponent and with every match mattering more.  Would he continue to do stuff like this?  Or is this just what happens with a creative thinker who is a little bored and has too many toys at his disposal?

You are correct about your lineup and partly also of Pep´s behaviour (due to being No.1 in Germany). But they aren´t the leaders at this moment (Dortmund was and is leading), so i doubt he risked anything and especially you had to look at his options. Boateng was missing due to his sending off last week, Benatia is injured and Badstuber and Javi Martinez are still rehabbing from their injuries, so..the only one CB in the team was Dante - who was on the bench and is going to Wolfsburg now. Pep had to do some creative thinking. And he probably knew that they would be dominating possession and Alonso would be playing as a defender in very few moments, instead leading the playmaking and deep setup between goalkeeping and midfield play.

Robben and Costa were great, while Hilbert (opponent of Costa) was absolutely killed. Costa brought the cross for the 1-0 from Müller, Hilbert made the foul for the penalty to the 2-0 and the handball for the penalty to the 3-0. When (if?) Ribery comes back, he will have a hard time getting ahead of Costa, but so far, everybody at Bayern knows, Ribery can ease back into the team, instead of hurrying like in years before. It´s obvious that Bayern will lead the possession against everybody in Europe besides maybe 1-2 teams and in those matches, you need players like Robben, Costa (or Ribery) in great form. With Costa there´s more options and Ribery can regain his physical strength to come back for a deep CL run.

Fun Pep fact: 37 Bundesliga matches in the 1st legs (Hinrunde): 32 wins, 5 draws.

Wow!

Bayern and Dortmund are really dominating the Bundesliga so far. It´s five matches only, but they both won each match in convincing style. OTOend of the table, Stuttgart and Gladbach lost each match so far, which is also very rare. Stuttgart somehow dominated chances and possession in most of them (today vs.Schalke, vs.Hamburg, vs. Hertha) and has nothing to show. New coach Zorniger got off to a bad start at new club Stuttgart and has to get some results, while at Gladbach, old guy Lucien Favre, who avoided relegation in his first half-season, then brought them to the Europa League and Champions League in 4 1/2 seasons, stepped down with an emotional good-bye.

Relegation zone favorites Darmstadt just lost their first match against Bayern after earning 3 tough draws and a win and they, 1.FC Köln and Ingolstadt (both 10p.) can be counted as the early positive surprises, maybe with comebackers Dortmund, as their superb play and wins in every match has them and new coach Thomas Tuchel off to a great start with wins in 5 Bundesliga, 1 DFB cup, 4 wins in Europa League qualification and 1 win in Europa League - 11 wins in 11 matches!

I haven't seen much of Dortmund but a friend of mine who follows the club said the front three of Reus-Aubemeyang-Mkhitarian has been on fire.

Reus was out for a few weeks with an injury he got (i think it was with the national team) in the break. Otherwise that´s true, Aubameyang just keeps scoring like last season, Mikhitaryan has improved dramatically and their offense is great. Their defense needs to keep tight. I think in early october, they play @Bayern, which will be the first statement game. Bayern will bring their A game and Pep will try to destroy them. This will be must-see, if they are still tied with both 100% records.

Bayern vs. Wolfsburg.
halftime was 0-1. Lewandowski came in at the half and in 60 seconds (51st, 52nd) it´s 2-1 Bayern and Lewandowski with a brace. The 2nd looked like it was offside.
3-1 Lewandowski 55th minute. Ridiculous!

Edit: 4-1 Lewandowski, 57th minute!

Edit2: 5-1 Lewandowski, 60th minute.

Looks like Stuttgart is done for.

They looked terrible in the game I watched.
? You watched one game, they played bad and won.
Believe me, they didn´t play great, but the first five games they lost, they deserved more points than they got and played a decent football. They didn´t score enough..

But you´re right, forget them, look for a new team to follow..maybe..1.FC Kaiserslautern!
They got a new coach, who was promoted from the U23 and basically brought their entire U23 team up from the U19 or brought them in from other teams, so there will be a few changes (hopefully with some young guns) in the senior team, as they are headed to nomansland this season with 9 points from 8 matches and league position 12...

Mainz-Stuttgart was a draw with few chances for either side...yet the pace was so much better than EPL games, making it very easy to watch.

Does Xavi Alonso have another good year and a half left? I haven't followed him, but how's he doing as he ages?

Meanwhile, this might finally be the year 1860 go down again. It's not like they were blown out in their losses to 2.Bundesliga newcomers Heidenheim (away) and Bundesliga shuttle team SC Freiburg (home). In fact, both matches had the same score: 1-0 losses. The thing is that they haven't scored on their own net yet, while the two killer goals were an own-goal and a penalty.
Things did not get better from there. 1860 went winless in their first 12 league matches, stretching from the beginning of the season in late July all the way through October. They finally won their first match against Duisburg, but are completely unstable still. 2-8-8 after 18 matches, one last match against 2nd in the table Freiburg on Sunday, and 5 points from absolute safety. They are only two points from the 2./3.Bundesliga playoff tie, but let's face it, this is a bad team with bad management in a stadium they don't belong in. Long gone are the days of Martin Max and Davor Suker terrorizing Bundesliga defenses, soon the hinterlands of the 3.Liga will be their home.

I don´t know if he will be just the bench safety net (again) for Thiago+Vidal. Joshua Kimmich(20years) has not proven himself to be an international option, like maybe Kingsley Coman who is younger and plays a more difficult position. And there is Rode, who is more the terrier who is playing hard, but has taken a step back from last season when he scored many decisive goals for Bayern and just isn´t the passer that Alonso is. So there is Alonso, who gets many, many starts for Bayern due to Thiago being injured most of the time.
He is still playing mostly as a deep-lying playmaker and gets tons of passes. He broke the Bundesliga passing records multiple times last season with 200+ passes per game. The biggest problem for him is his speed. When he gets pressed early in own half, he made a few mistakes that led to goals (don´t remember any in this season, but last season there were at least 2-3 of those slips with the ball at his feet which led to easy goals on one-on-ones). Maybe he is getting away with it so far, maybe i missed those situations this season, maybe it´s because of lower competition (fast CL competition will press him high up the pitch and force some mistakes).

When you look at other positions in Bayerns team, you see that they have so many options everywhere, but there´s no world-class player in DM besides Vidal (Thiago just is injured more time than he plays and if he won´t play in 2016 due to injury, Bayern will think hard about a new transfer in DM, especially if his biggest caretaker Pep may leave). If they make another move, Alonso could sit most of the time, if Bayern views Vidal+Thiago as primary options and Kimmich doesn´t improve dramatically, then Alonso will get some starts.

Bayern fans are divided (and partially hating) on their bosses decision to improve their partnership with sponsors from Qatar, namely the Airport from Qatar:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/reuters/article-3387508/Bayern-set-Qatar-training-camp-amid-criticism.html
First, it was just the training camp, which was already criticized.
http://myinforms.com/en/a/22802279-hamad-international-airport-announced-platinum-sponsor-of-bayern-munich/
Now it´s the announcement of a platinum partnership (one level lower than their top sponsors) which is hated on by their one of their biggest bloggers @breignigge and as i read on sport1.de, it seems some of their fans (i have no idea how many) are leaving the team, or terminating their membership status.
