All things considered, there may be no better value in sports than MLB.tv. Certainly for an out-of-market fan. The sheer volume of content, coupled with a great user experience, for $150 is such a great deal.
Don’t pay more than $5-10. So many TMobile customers sell theirs.

It's been around for a few years at least, but single team has never seemed particularly worthwhile for only $20 less than the full package.
That's always been how I looked at it. If the single team was $80, I'd probably do that. But saving only $20 while not being able to switch to some important game (like a perfect game) isn't worth it.

It's that and NBA league pass (online) for me. Really great value, unlike the NFL that didn't even provide Red Zone in the base ~$300 Sunday Ticket (online) package.

Saw T-Mobile is offering its customers MLS Season Pass for free this year, so thinking they no longer will offer MLB.tv. Which means no deals to be had. Bummer.

I got my "free" subscription email for being a season ticket holder this week. If you happen to be a STH and missed it, check your mailbox and junk folder.

Just did a little perfunctory digging on the T-Mobile/ MLBtv deal, and there's many conflicting things being said on various boards. Mostly due to personal interpretations of various articles/ statements made by T-Mobile, I think. Though there was one person who posted a screen grab of the tail end of a chat they had with someone who was apparently a rep of T-Mobile saying it was still happening this year. For whatever that's worth.
Best guess is it will continue this season, but won't be up to grab until a week or so before opening day. So not in place for most Spring Training games.

I was able to watch parts of the Northeastern game and the Padres-Mariners on MLB.TV today with no active sub.

Canceled my subscription for lots of reasons today. Among them, it’s too expensive, blackouts, don’t stay up late enough to watch most games, generally busy during the 7-830 time slot. If the Sox have a surprise first half I may have to join back up but I’m out for now.

I also read everything that Moviegoer posted. Personal interpretations are confounding reality ("It's a wrap for our free MLB.TV offer, but the deals keep coming. ")
, and I also saw that screen grab.

IF TMo offers it, it's usually the first Tuesday of April/Tuesday immediately preceding Opening Day, with the announcement/confirmation coming in late March.

And yes, the subs are often available on Ebay for $10 or under.

The last couple of years I was subscribed via YouTube TV which makes it look like any other channel that can be DVRed. It was a great (though flawed) option. This year, as YT TV fights with MLB, that's no longer an option so I decided to just sign up and use the app directly. I cancelled after less than 5 minutes. Have there always been unskippable ads? I don't have time to watch games in real time and I'm sure as hell not watching 60 minutes of ads every night. For the first time in my 50 years I will not watch Red Sox/MLB baseball. Seems like a not-so-great plan to drive away lifelong fans, but I guess that's the plan.

I used to be able to get around the ads with a good AdBlock, but they seemed to tighten up on that the past couple of years.

In previous years I was able to tell my appleTV to jump ahead 3 minutes just as they were going to commercial and I'd miss all those crappy ads. Not sure this year but as long as I did it before an ad started it worked

Hmm, maybe that still works. I'll wait until the season starts and see if it' any different

FWIW, I'm currently replaying yesterday's game (Kluber looking good!) and I'm able to fast forward through the commercials no problem. Using the mlb.tv app on an Android TV. I already had to uninstall and reinstall the MLB.tv app twice so far this pre-season to get it work correctly, so that may be worth a shot (not something I typically have to do, been an MLB.tv subscriber for years and is usually pretty rock solid).

As mentioned, there will be plenty of people looking to trade their codes for $5 Amazon gift cards over at Slickdeals. I've gone that route before and for anyone interested who hasn't done it my only advice is to make a dummy MLB.tv account without any of your regular info since, last time I did it, you had to provide your login info to the person you're buying the season pass from to get it activated. Maybe that's changed (there was no such requirement for the MLS pass, just a code).

Now to mentally justify to myself why it was worth spending $100 on the MLBPAA discounted subscription essentially just for spring training games (because it's fun to watch spring training, dammit!)

To get through spring training, you can create a 7 day free trial. JUST REMEMBER TO CANCEL before the last day so you don't get charged full price. On the 8th day create a new account with a new email address, rinse and repeat.

I'm curious - what is the actual mechanic for that? Like do you buy a giftcard and PM someone the code or what?

Same here, on both PS4 and Roku. You can skip around as long as the ads haven’t actually started yet. If you’re doing other things, you just need to listen for the transition music from the broadcaster and jump forward before the commercials actually start.

I messaged the guy I've purchased this for $5 from for three straight years. Just waiting on him to send me his updated email for the GC.

So what do you do with the code once you get it? Do you need the Tmobile ap or something?
One person sent me a url and it didn't load to my account. As I have done in the past, I asked them to log in to mlb.tv with my credentials and add it, but they were not willing to. Another person sent my a url and it loaded right to my account. Not sure what the difference was.

I’ve read that that if you were given the code by a T-Mobile user, make sure whenever you’re using mlb.tv be on wifi. If you open up mlbtv app with a cellular provider that’s not Tmobile the subscription gets cancelled.

Anyone known if that is true or not?

I don’t know about this year but it has not been the case in the past.

If you're sitting on an extra code you've already paid for, PM me and I'll try it - if it works I'll send you a $5 card.
