Yeah I was willing to take a chance for $5 and it worked out. Essentially you just have to trust sending money to a random stranger with no recourse but it's not a huge investment anyway.

I figured if someone needs $5 that bad that they're going to start scamming on slickdeals then they can have my $5.

I haven’t read this thread so maybe it was addressed, but can I sign into my MLB.TV account on Amazon Prime, or do I have to buy it through Prime? Because that looks like the only option.

Anyone have any insight of MLBTV streaming via my Samsung Smart TV (2017) versus the Xfinity MLB Extra innings sub?
That's what I'm hoping to do with my Samsung TV. The MLB TV app is in the list of available apps & I'm trying it out with the MLB TV Free Game of the Day. I do sign in with my MLB website credentials first then select the free game. This gives me a chance to see how I can skip commercials, FF or REW. I've just caught one game so far but it seems to work pretty well.

And it sounds like they all come in HD whereas Xfinity they don't (how in this day and age is beyond me) and it seems less expensive. Any buffering issues?

I presume that's how it works (Amazon Prime channels are accessible only if you subscribe from within the Prime app). Amazon Prime offers CBS All Access as a channel within their app, but I can't access it there because I subscribed directly through the CBS app.

The picture is great, as good as I've had with Extra Innings on Direct TV. I was concerned about buffering since I don't have the speediest internet connection but so far, no problems. I'll probably buy it around Father's Day when it usually goes on sale.

Edit: I should add that I don't watch games live, I've always recorded them so I can skip commercials. Today I watched some of yesterday's free game, ARI/SDP so it was basically a recording so less chance of buffering issues. If the game is currently being played, I just select "Watch from the beginning"

Not an MLB.tv question but didn't know where else to put it. Has anyone ordered EI and not been able to see one of the 9 HD channels? On mine (Spectrum) channel 700 is black. The audio works but there's no video. They've supposedly been working on it since opening day but it still isn't working.

Any possibility of watching NESN online? I hate it in nights like this one, when they win, and MLB TV immediately gets off and thanks for watching and you don’t even see the players celebrating.

NESN has a streaming app, but you need a valid cable login and there are occasional location issues... so, not much help

I hope they are just having technical issues, as they seem to at the start of every season. I worry that they have cut back on the staffing/resources devoted to highlight packages like those that will lead to them showing up 2-3 days after each game instead of their previous next-day delivery. That could happen either as a pure cost-cutting move, or as an effort to steer more eyeballs towards MLB Network or other highlight delivery methods of their preference.
Following up on this, it appears to have been early season technical issues. As of last night, recaps and condensed games for previous games are now available in the PS4 app again. Re-installing the app previously had not had any effect, and I doubt my e-mail complaint did either. Whew.

Went with MLB TV with app thru smart TV - very happy. Games look great. No lag. Can't tell any broadcast delay unlike the DTV Sunday Tix

I got an email from MLB today saying they want me back as a subscriber. I've never had an MLB.TV account so I don't know where they got it from, maybe my Extra Innings account on Direct TV. Anyway, it was a chance to buy the full MLB.TV package for $77 so I jumped on it, just in time to see that the Sox game got cancelled.

It seems to be keyed on whether you have watched any of the free MLB Game of the Day through the AtBat app. Trying to decide whether to take the $77 or wait until Father's Day when it's around $50.

That makes sense since I have watched some of the free MLB Game of the Day with the MLB.TV app on my TV. I too was going to wait until Father's Day & just sign-up for the Sox but decided I'd like to watch other teams, too. NL East & Central should be good races.

Mlb.tv somehow lost my account. They say it doesn't exist. Anyone else had this problem?

Yes, it was working fine for weeks. After 2 hours on the phone with MLB and T mobile they said my account had a glitch where the email address was overwritten by a random string of numbers and letters. They had to find it by phone number and then restored it. They said it happens occasionally with the T mobile code accounts.

I guess there's a bug with how they store their app settings data - I watch on a Roku upstairs and an Apple TV 4 downstairs. Neither device can remember my "show scores" setting at the home screen, always runs home to hidden. NBD, but sloppy, makes you wonder if that is a security hole or if there are others.

Apparently if the geolocation of your IP address resolves to multiple locations they'll just auto blackout you. I'm entirely done with them: it's piracy until they fix their blackout nonsense.

Watching MLB.tv on a Roku as well and I have to enter my credentials every time. Works fine on mobile. Very annoying.

The geolocation stuff isn't really their fault. That has to be one of the hackiest systems on the entire internet. Companies selling that data are dealing in snake oil IMHO. It's maybe only good for international boundaries. That said, MLB are the ones integrating it into their product. It needs to be blended with a device's location services to work properly. Unfortunately I don't think a lot of streaming devices have a robust locations services software setup.

Lately my AppleTV 4 app has been crashing after about 5-10 mins. Apparently a fix is to access the feed through the TV app but that crashed for me too a couple of nights ago. And sometimes it won't grab the feed I want (NESN). Last night's game was stable but I interacted with the app a bunch looking at scores and shit so who knows how to reproduce the issue really...

The underlying data being wonky isn't their fault, but that they're using it and making product decisions to deny a customer the service that they've paid for certainly is.

I watch on multiple Rokus and never need to re-enter credentials unless the app is updated. There may be a setting you need to change. I would suggest poking around settings in both the Roku and the app and see if you can find something related.

I started having games blacked out on my connected TV devices this weekend (Xbox, Chromecast). However, the app works fine on my phone and tablet. All are running off my home WiFi. Anyone ever have device specific blackouts? Very strange. Been a subscriber for years and never had his happen.

I didn't do Extra Innings this year due to a move, being busy and not expecting to have much time to watch baseball. I do have an MLBTV account, last week I took advantage of their free preview then cancelled the subscription a few days later so not to be charged. Today I received an email from MLBTV with reference to my free trial and offering the rest of the season for $29.99. Good deal I thought why not? Usually I have MLBTV on my Apple TV's and iphone. I grabbed my iphone and signed into my account and hit subscribe. Now I'm seeing a charge for one year of MLBTV for nearly $130 on my iTunes account. I'm wondering if I should have gone to the MLBTV website instead and not through the app on my phone , did I screw up? What are the chances of getting a refund through Apple? I don't think I can request a refund until the charge goes through...right now it's just an authorization.

If you used a credit card, I'd challenge the charge.

My dad moved recently and has had a ton of problems with mlbtv. From them trying to overcharge to them trying to blackout games.

I received an email today from Apple ( I made an offical complaint to them last night via my app store itunes account), they are issuing a refund for $129.22. I'm kind of stunned how quick they responded and no questions asked. I'm guessing it may be a common problem. I know that app developers often have sales and direct you to their website and signing in there rather than the app store. Maybe that's the issue. I know that Apple takes 30% of the cost of apps before paying the developers and that can be used as a "workaround" so they don't lose 30%. Pay us...not Apple.

Just curious to know if he’s getting blacked out of all games or just locals? I live in NC and am blacked out of Braves, Orioles, Nationals and Reds (which makes no sense) games.

We live in Idaho, so I'm not even sure who the local team would be. Seattle, probably. We kept getting blacked out on Yankees games, which makes no sense at all. I think he finally got it resolved after spending a lot of time on the phone troubleshooting.

Looks like it’s Seattle and maybe Colorado depending on where you live. Unless the Yankees were playing one of those two teams, there was definitely a problem on their end. I’ve had to call a few times with similar issues over the years.

I'm back in the market for a new tablet to watch Sox games on for the upcoming season. I currently have a Nexus 9 that @donutogre was so kind to part with back in 2006, but it's on its last legs and it's time for an upgrade. I don't do anything on the tablet besides watch sports (on a nightly basis during baseball season). I don't need all the bells and whistles and don't necessarily mind used or refurbished. I'm open to any OS as well. I just want something that will last me (hopefully) 3-4 years like the last one. Any suggestions?

I would check the MLB site for what devices are supported (here: https://www.mlb.com/apps/atbat#android-devices).

I had a good set up on an (admittedly older) Samsung SmartTV but they ended support for the MLBTV app on that model. I could still watch on the Roku but that meant taking over the main TV in the house.

The link above includes this language (added italics):

Live video and full game archived video only is available on compatible Android devices running OS version 4.4 or later. We are also unable to guarantee that MLB.TV live or archived content will successfully play regardless of meeting the minimum OS requirements.

With thousands of possible Android device/OS combinations, we are interested in obtaining your individual feedback of the live or full game archive video experience within At Bat on your Android device. Please help us improve your live and full game archive video experience via At Bat on Android devices by completing our rating questionnaire.

For the 2018 season, I cancelled before the season and MLB.TV sent me an email about why I did so. So, I responded to the automated email and then they sent another email almost instantly and asked what I thought was a fair price. I put $69.99 (price for Veterans and students), and they replied with an offer for the same price and I ordered.

Last year, however, they didn’t send me such an email and so I waited until Father’s Day for the $49.99 promo.

I hope they send me that same email this year!

You can get an iPad 6th gen (2018 version) on eBay for around $200. I bought one used off there about a year ago and it's been fantastic for this purpose.

Thanks, I'll set my phone reminder for this date, and hopefully get a deal on slickdeals as another member suggested. Better than paying $121.99 which is the full-season price for 2020, but either way I'm not missing the opener.
