Ugh, NHLN means the game is blacked out for those of us relying on ESPN+. It was only available on a premium tier when I had DirecTV (I believe a number of cable systems are the same) and it’s entirely unavailable on YTTV. The league continues to put marquee games on the network despite its limited availability and while I get the desire to build their own brand, it blows.

It could be worse. I might not watch tonight because I’ll be forced to listen to Chris Cuthbert and Craig Simpson sing the sagas of this great Leafs team. The one that’s, y’know, second best to their opponent.

Go Leafs Go

After Liverpool‘s pathetic display today I need something to lift my spirits .. the weather sucks (pissing down rain all day). Watching my boys stomp the Big Bad Bruins on their home turf (or ice) will do the trick nicely:)

( question about gamethread decorum .. is one allowed to root for the enemy?)

Rooting for is encouraged and welcome.

Trolling is discouraged and scorned upon.

Considering that a Dolphins fan consistently trolls Pats v. Phins game threads without consequence, some harmless rooting is probably fine.
You can almost understand the level of trolling given the posting occurs in a thread involving the Dolphins’ Super Bowl. Like, the Patriots have been pretty successful the last 20ish years but even in their best years, they never played in two Super Bowls in the same season (a feat the phins accomplish annually).

I'm all for having both sides involved, lighthearted ribbing is always fun. My favorite watching experience was the Pats/Seahawks Suberbowl when I lived in Colorado with 3 of us Pats fans, 10 Seahawks fans and everyone else against us

Yeah, I can see grass out my window in Summerside. That’s a first.

And on my anti-Sportsnet rant, Kevin Bieksa suggested that Dryden Hunt is in the line-up to throw David Pastrnak off his game. F’real.

So … this past year has seen HNIC (and all of Rogers NHL games for that matter ) sell out with tons of gambling ads , not to mention some truly execrable intermission segments featured odds and the like. Does NESN feature this crap? I don’t think I’ve seen it creeping in to their Red Sox games …

That’s a good goal. Problem is, if that contact was made and the roles reversed and the Leafs challenged it…. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ - who’s to say?

Question .. from a distance it would seem that the Bruins current position at the top of the heap is primarily because of Ullmark. Is he really that good ? Or just a good goalie having a great year?
My memory may be rusty, but Ullmark’s underlying numbers were better than the traditional stats while he was in Buffalo. While this has been a pretty big step up, I think it’s not totally out of nowhere.

The entire team has been just so good. Top to bottom. Offense, defense, goaltender.

This seems a bit harsh. I'm a die hard hockey/Bruins guy and I have no clue what the Leafs' strengths or weaknesses are
The B's are 32-5. They have 9 points more than anyone else, even though many teams, Leafs included, have played more games, and it's all thanks to Ullmark? He's either emerging from a coma or full of passive-aggressive bullshit.

Yeah, I took it more as, “Ullmark’s been massive this year, is it sustainable?” as opposed to “how screwed are the Bruins when Ullmark regresses to mean?”

You just made my point. They are more or less the same team as last year ..unless the new coach is a genius ? Or this years goalie has stood on his head?

I didn’t suggest the Bruins weren’t a very good team. of course they are. But if they had last year’s goal tending this year would they be this good? I think not.
If they had last years goaltending they’d have given up like 5 more goals through 40 games. Negligible.

To this, I’d say the offence breaking out is a much bigger factor than the goaltending improvement.

Oh, where’s Simpson to tell me Simmonds “just had to get that cross-check in”? Oh, he’s wearing blue and white so it’s okay?

Look, I get it, but I never understand why everyone immediately thinks the worst. Maybe if a pattern emerges sure but it's crazy to just assume the worst off what I thought was a fair question to ask
