Kyrie went 5-16 in getting eliminated and we have schadenfreude.

From a Glob pregame story:
On the other side, Irving came into the game unusually humble and contrite, telling reporters, “It’s my fault. I’m taking accountability for not playing particularly well.’’
Bull. Shit.
I've repeated this here, but as a Little League coach told me when I whiffed with the bases loaded and two outs to end a close game, "Win as a team lose as a team. The players who take all the blame secretly want all the credit when things go well."

I distinctly remember the Celtics losing 20 straight to the Knicks in the 90s.

Looking it up, they lost 21 straight games to NY between 4/8/93 and 1/19/98. Dee Brown was on the Celtics for the entire stretch, being traded away in February 1998. I don't really care to check games logs to see if he played every one of those games.

Driving somewhere most likely
Could be someone on the Kings mid 80s, based on this list:
All Time Longest NBA Losing Streaks Against Single Team (champsorchumps.us)
Reggie Theus was traded to the KC Kings in Feb of 83 and moved with them to Sacramento.
The Kings actually won the first game Theus played vs the Lakers on 2/18/83 then they had the 27 loss streak until a win on 3/26/88. He left after that season and played in Atlanta.

Let’s hope the Garden crowd, from angles, makes Kyrie very uncomfortable on Monday night. We know well that he’s mentally weak and susceptible to Boston fans messing with his mojo. Make it happen.

The man is delusional and utterly tone deaf.

From the Athletic:

“That’s what they expect you to do as a player — they expect you to seamlessly buy into the Celtics pride, buy into everything Celtics, and if you don’t, you’ll be outed,” Irving said. “I’m one of the people that’s on the outs. … I did it to myself. They don’t welcome me with a warm embrace.”

….

“Let’s call it what it is, when the fans are chanting ‘Kyrie sucks’ or anything, they feel like they have a psychological edge — and that’s fair,” said Irving, who shot 13 of 37 in the first two finals games in Boston. “If I’m not making shots or turning the ball over, that makes it even more of a pressing issue that they can stay on me for. So I think in order to silence even the self doubt, let alone the crowd doubt, but the self doubt when you make or miss shots, that’s just as important.”

Kyrie, you nitiwit, you’re booed cause you needlessly promised to stay and left, you were largely ineffective, you quit on the Celtics, you forced your way out, you’re a virulent anti-Semite, and you’re a self-important, pseudo intellectual dumbass. That you didn’t buy into “everything Celtics” is an extremely small aspect of the whole suckpie.

The man is begging to be the story tomorrow night. If I were a Mavs fan or a teammate, I would want him to STFU and I would see absolutely nothing positive in him saying things that could rev up an already frenzied crowd even more. Said differently, I’d want him to focus on the game.

I will never forget the 2019 playoffs when Kyrie froze out Brad Stevens and decided to guard Giannis at midcourt all the while pointing at his teammates and telling them who to guard.

And then sulked when his defensive epiphany turned out to be just stupid.

Maybe? Not sure. Kyrie may be some things, but don't think he has ever been called out for giving cheap shots like that
Kyrie grabbed his arm right before this to try to throw Tatum off on his timing of catching the pass. He then pulls it to try and grab momentum to catch up because he's way behind.. and neither of those elbows after that are unintentional.. like there's no way to see that and think it wasn't IMO.. but I also don't see them as cheap shots.. I think instead he's trying to bump Tatum while he's in the air so he misses the shot. It's the same reason he grabbed his arm. All of them are fouls but none of them will probably be called or seen in a normal game. It's pretty common to put a hand on someone's hip or back when in the air because it's easy to change someone's trajectory when they're up.

I remember this too. It’s deeply etched.

He also stomped on the logo and then called the Boston fans racist for booing him after that. He's simply the worst.

Seriously. I'm dumbstruck by the "he's really matured" takes about him. The dipshit made his anti-Semitic comments 18 months ago!
More than just comments too; it’s not like he told some racist jokes or something—promoting that book / movie is super bad. Frickin’ dangerous. And has long term consequences.

Someone call me when he owns that.*

*Telling rabbis that he’s Jewish implicitly suggests he stands by the book / movie, in fact. And then it got in the papers… he sucks.

It’s one thing to hold a grudge and talk trash during a series, but this asshole is actively trying to screw with the organizations ability to recruit free agents. I really wish bad things on this man.

Kudos to the crowd for never forgetting what an asshole this guy is, and responding to him in a way that definitely affected him.

I don’t really care about him at this point, but I did enjoy seeing him have to walk off the Garden parquet like that. He quit/left, and I don’t care about his personal growth - his lack of leadership when they really needed it was a big reason that initial core failed.

One of those instances in sport where playing at home truly made a difference. The crowd absolutely played a role in neutralizing him. He is dogshit every single time he comes back here.

fuck him and fuck Mike Breen for even intimating that the crowd was racist when they were just calling him out for being a fucking dipshit.

can’t wait until this fuckwad retires. He’s a loser and I just don’t want to watch him

Best part of this is you know 2024-2025 will be a Kyrie flake season. Cuban almost squeezed out a title but thankfully the good guys in green and white said “nope, ain’t happening”.

Yeah this thread will get a nice shot in the arm if/when he's traded to the Lakers.
