Kyrie only wants to create "'wanted' distractions." (Wanted by him, that is.)"Kyrie declined questions today regarding his long-term future with the Mavericks ... Irving says it would create "unwanted distractions" for team and describes topic as “very draining.”
HOF-caliber shitposterCurry can't shitpost like this. Not a generational talent my ass.
I'm sorry but this is hilarious. I'd pay good money to see Kyrie and Jordan Peterson do a live reenactment of My Dinner with Andre.
I suppose this is where I admit that I'm not nearly enlightened enough to have any clue what any of those images is "supposed" to "mean."I'm sorry but this is hilarious. I'd pay good money to see Kyrie and Jordan Peterson do a live reenactment of My Dinner with Andre.

Seems like Rodgers, in the midst of his darkness retreat, is throwing his support behind Kyrie and Peterson's deep thoughts.I'm sorry but this is hilarious. I'd pay good money to see Kyrie and Jordan Peterson do a live reenactment of My Dinner with Andre.

That’s because we’re overanalyzing.Also... the fact we're comparing him to Curry kind of makes the point doesn't it? Curry is going to end up a top 20 all-time player, and we're assessing what other than 3pt shooting he does better than Kyrie.
Career (per 36 min)
Steph 25.7 pts on .626 TS / 4.9 reb / 6.8 ast / + 8.4 on court / +11.5 net on-off
Kyrie 24.5 pts on .580 TS / 4.1 reb / 6.0 ast / +2.8 on court / +3.3 net on-off
But I'll definitely allow that they're more similar on court than off.
Both of these miss the whole point, as they are about who has performed better, which is not what talent means. Nobody is arguing Kyrie is a better or even close player than Curry, or that he's had anywhere near the career, the discussion is about their talent/skill level, particularly on offense. That’s because we’re overanalyzing.
Curry is a more efficient scorer than Kyrie, and a much better defender too. Those are two huge differences. They aren’t similar players.
People act like Kyrie is this 50/50 probability; as if his presence is either going to help you win a title, or he is going to undermine your entire team and be a huge distraction. The reality is that for the last half-decade, Kyrie being on your team means only the bad stuff and very little of the good stuff. There will be little flashes where he has a game where he scores a lot of points, but the story on Kyrie ever since he made that shot in the finals (which is now SEVEN years ago) is that in the playoffs he will be injured or being a crazy distraction, or both.Whatever he is as a player, he's a problematic asset. Teams are trying to hit the lottery and win a title, so they overpay in money and assets for him, but there is so little predictability as to whether he will stay, or show up, or give effort, or whether he will tell the truth about his intentions. Cleveland got a bit burned, the Celtics got pretty burned, The Nets and Durant got totally burned. I understand it is kind of the way with NBA stars these days (Leonard, Davis, Harden, Durant ...) but Irving seems top of the list. This stuff also highlights how much more actual value a player who just is predictable and honest sticks to his team actually is, like Curry or Giannis or(hopefully) Embiid or Tatum...the front office can actually plan around their star.
There will always be teams desperate enough and in the position to take that risk though. We know of at least two at the deadline this year. He’s a lottery ticket and talent is always intriguing.People act like Kyrie is this 50/50 probability; as if his presence is either going to help you win a title, or he is going to undermine your entire team and be a huge distraction. It's a rather clever jab at interoffice politics...I suppose this is where I admit that I'm not nearly enlightened enough to have any clue what any of those images is "supposed" to "mean."
But how do we "KNOW" about that pencil/eraser thing? After all, we can only "see" the eraser, and the other end is usually a pencil. Maybe it's really a lone eraser in a world of pencils and they all have their heads up their asses? From the SB Nation article
- A group of faceless people lining up for “comforting lies” over “unpleasant truths.” This coming from Kyrie, who has bought into flat earth theory and routinely promotes lies he finds comforting.
- A pen writing, being loaded with coins by another hand. Wow. People paying other people to write.
- A lone pencil in a world of erasers. Only the pencil is brave enough to write something in a world where everyone else is taking things away. Wow. Deep.
- A devil, with its tail taped to its back about to put on an angel costume. Really makes you think.
100I know the post doesn't say it but "The Jews" is presumably one of Irving's unpleasant truths. Cool and thought provoking!
We probably need more articles and posts explaining the nuances of Kyrie's considered positions on these and other topics. He gives time and money to charities so we really need to hear him out.

His next tweet is substantially more obnoxious. But you have to be reasonably well versed in vile bullshit to understand why.I'm sorry but this is hilarious. I'd pay good money to see Kyrie and Jordan Peterson do a live reenactment of My Dinner with Andre.
I’m rejecting the premise. Yes, there are things like effort and intangibles, but most of what makes someone a good player (or not) can be described as “talent” or “skill.”Both of these miss the whole point, as they are about who has performed better, which is not what talent means. Nobody is arguing Kyrie is a better or even close player than Curry, or that he's had anywhere near the career, the discussion is about their talent/skill level, particularly on offense.

Let's say "you aren't." So what. What are you doing about it?Are you -free- when other people aren't?

Enes right now:I suppose it’s ok if they are working on his next Nike shoe though. Lol.
He is the destroyer of worldsNets record since Kyrie Trade: 5-7
Mavericks record with Kyrie and Doncic playing together: 4-6
He's being who he is, which if you take only his on court production (his superb offense and well below average defense probably has him somewhere in the 16 to 25 range) and his fit with Luka (really not good), there's just not much to get excited about. There will be some really fun games, but this was a below average defensive team that got worse when they traded away Dinwiddie and DFS. Only 1 champion in the last 20 years finished outside the top 10 in defensive rating, and that was the 2018 Warriors, who were 11th. The Mavs are currently 23rd in defensive rating. The last legitimately bad defensive team to win the title was the 2001 Lakers, who were 21st in defensive rating in the regular season before nearly sweeping the field in the playoffs (16-1).And that is with Kyrie being relatively normal and playing very well, as far as scoring the ball.
I mean, I have no love for the guy, but he is abso-fucking-lutely trending towards a lock for the Hall of Fame. Not a Hall of Famer.
He may and probably will get in. But this guy sucks on defense and has had one season where he won in part because he was good. It’s a hill I will die on.

Springfield’s bar for induction is laughably low. Calvin Murphy and Mo Cheeks are in.I mean, I have no love for the guy, but he is abso-fucking-lutely trending towards a lock for the Hall of Fame.
People also go WAY overboard about his defense. Scoring guards aren’t going to be lockdown defenders and even non-scoring guards don’t shut guys down in todays game with so many explosive backcourt scorers. His size is a detriment but for a guy who is so important to a teams offense he puts in decent enough effort and can get down when needed in the 4Q. I don’t think he’s worse than average defensively at his position.Bref's HOF probability has him at 93.4%, which feels right. That stat doesn't know what a shithead he is off the court, but it probably also doesn't know that he has one of the biggest shots in NBA history. He's as much of a lock as there can be (the only active players with a greater chance are George, Giannis, Lillard, AD, Westbrook, Harden, Curry, Paul, Durant and Lebron), especially considering his career isn't actually over yet.
Kyrie is trying to rejuvenate his game by acting like a sophomore. Are you -free- when other people aren't?

Different time period. But, I agree, it's extremely unlikely he'll do something outrageous enough off the court to keep him out of Springfield.Karl Malone is in the HoF and the All-Star MVP award is named after Kobe. What’s Kyrie gonna do to bad act his way out of the Hall?
Yeah for all of his flaws, it seems unlikely that he'll be doing anything criminal, and that's what it would take.Different time period. But, I agree, it's extremely unlikely he'll do something outrageous enough off the court to keep him out of Springfield.
