Not if you include the orthodox Jewish communitiesNYC was arguably the most COVID serious city in the US,
Ummmm, like, OK?Not if you include the orthodox Jewish communities
Would the Nets be willing to take less for KD now? It’s not that they couldn’t trade KD - it’s that they couldn’t trade him for enough value to make it worth their while.
Kyrie they would have traded for salary fodder and a first round pick, but despite that they couldn’t find any takers. Part of the problem was that he was only willing to be sent to a few select teams, but it was more than that. The Lakers, his preferred destination, balked at throwing in more than one draft pick for him in a potential RWB for Kyrie swap.
Does NYC not normally include them? Even with small, outlier communities not taking Covid seriously, NYC was particularly devastated by and serious about Covid. Not if you include the orthodox Jewish communities
Yes, I think so. In the off-season they wanted a package that would help them compete now while still gaining long-term assets. Something like Jaylen Brown, TL and picks, or at the very least JB and picks. I think now they might be more comfortable with a complete tear-down (salary fodder and as many picks as they can get).Would the Nets be willing to take less for KD now?
No, but since we’re in a thread discussing antisemitism, it is revealing when a poster cannot resist their urge to make an irrelevant criticism of a Jewish community.Does NYC not normally include them? I think you missed Marciano’s point. He was critiquing the comment. That said, the haredi response to covid was, overall, egregiously bad.No, but since we’re in a thread discussing antisemitism, it is revealing when a poster cannot resist their urge to make an irrelevant criticism of a Jewish community.
I believe Ale is Jewish and it was much more “look at me I know a fact” than anything malevolent. No, but since we’re in a thread discussing antisemitism, it is revealing when a poster cannot resist their urge to make an irrelevant criticism of a Jewish community.
If anything was rejected it was RWB and 2 unprotected 1sts, pretty sure if Kyrie for RWB and 1 1st was actually on the table this summer Kyrie would be a Laker right now.
Just curious— right now what do you think Kylie could fetch? (Note: Halloween characters like Corpse of Wesrbrick & Exposing Primo don’t count). If anything was rejected it was RWB and 2 unprotected 1sts, pretty sure if Kyrie for RWB and 1 1st was actually on the table this summer Kyrie would be a Laker right now.
My comment was not directed at you beyond the first word in my post.I believe Ale is Jewish and it was much more “look at me I know a fact” than anything malevolent.
Edit - wait am I the antisemite? I thought he meant Ale.
Agreed, but there’s no reason to bring that up in this thread other than to attack that community. That said, the haredi response to covid was, overall, egregiously bad.
I think the lakers would give up rwb and a 1st for him. Probably more if there's any young player on their roster that interests the Nets. They're far more desperate than the Nets are right now.Just curious— right now what do you think Kylie could fetch? (Note: Halloween characters like Corpse of Wesrbrick & Exposing Primo don’t count).
This is one of the most toxic assets in sports right now.
Ironically, common ground between Kyrie and the BIG-J Jews.Agreed, but there’s no reason to bring that up in this thread other than to attack that community.
I get what Brooklyn was trying to do. The only thing they could do once they decided they weren’t trading Durant— run it back, hope for good health, hope Simmons would figure it all out & move beyond his ghosts in Philly (not trying to diminish any mental health issues he is having) and most importantly, counting on Kyrie to engage and not be batshit crazy. It’s like asking Daniel LaRusso to run the table. It happens in the movies but . . .Yes, I think so. In the off-season they wanted a package that would help them compete now while still gaining long-term assets. Something like Jaylen Brown, TL and picks, or at the very least JB and picks. I mean, prior to the season, despite all the drama of the off-season, I think there was still some hope that the abundance of talent on this roster might push them to contention. But then the season started and it’s become apparent that Simmons is shell-shocked, and Kyrie is going to double-down on the moron messiah act that sunk last year’s team.
It might be time to cash in their chips and move on..
Probably the only possibility out there. Though b/c of the Davis trade the Lakers don’t fully control their own pick until 2026 I believe. And I’m not sure what player on the Lakers roster would move the needle (I mean, Matt Ryan is one of their top rotation guys). And the Nets are pretty desperate— their window is closing and they’ve got the only anti-Semitic, flat earther, shitty teammate in this equation.I think the lakers would give up rwb and a 1st for him. Probably more if there's any young player on their roster that interests the Nets. They're far more desperate than the Nets are right now.
Great, then the Nets can just keep sending Kyrie out there. No one's riding to their rescue and no one's giving up anything for Irving. Because you can always just wait for the Nets to buy out Irving. The Lakers are 0-5, Lebron is 37, Russ looks terrible, Davis is already hurt, and they don't have their own pick. But yeah I'm sure they'd rather just tank the season rather than give up an asset to hope they can make it work with Kyrie.
So instead of trading a guy they've been wanting to get rid of for months with 90+% of the season left to salvage things the lakers are instead going to wait for months for him to maybe be bought out, maybe be able to sign him, and maybe their season won't be hopelessly over by then?Great, then the Nets can just keep sending Kyrie out there. No one's riding to their rescue and no one's giving up anything for Irving. Because you can always just wait for the Nets to buy out Irving.
I liked this one:Kyrie changed his pinned Tweet the other day, and it’s a real piece of work, even Tweet Imageby his lofty standards:

The responses are full of people telling him that he doesn’t understand Islam.
That's some hard core blasphemy right there.I liked this one:

So you're literally referring to yourself as a God now. I prefer my Gods to not get swept in the first round, but that's why we have religious freedom!
Oh good, holocaust denial. He also cites some pretty horrible quotes from the Kyrie endorsed “documentary” which includes:
“The Jews have established five major falsehoods which work to conceal their nature and protect their status and power, to wit: 1) The Jews are “Israelites,” and thus God’s chosen people; 2) Jesus Christ was a Jew; 3) That 6 million people were killed in a holocaust during WWII; 4) That all races are equal, or that all are brothers; and 5) That the Jews are just another religious group.”
For the record, Avdija is actually half Jewish and half Muslim. Not that your suggestion isn’t still totally appropriate.I hope that when the Nets play the Wizards on November 5th, Deni Avdija undercuts Kyrie on a drive to the hoop.
Calling the statement “all races are equal, and all are brothers” a falsehood is also pretty unambiguous.Oh good, holocaust denial.
That's actually somewhat helpful for anyone trying to message about why this all sucks, because "that film was anti-semitic" sounds like it could be a matter of opinion, but "that film denied the Holocaust happened" is unambiguous.
Holocaust denial isn't the only frightening part of what you quoted. It's an easy callout, but how about the "races aren't all equal" and the "trying to protect their status and power" shit.Oh good, holocaust denial.
That's actually somewhat helpful for anyone trying to message about why this all sucks, because "that film was anti-semitic" sounds like it could be a matter of opinion, but "that film denied the Holocaust happened" is unambiguous.
The media needs to throw these quotes in his face the next time he’s interviewed. I know he’ll just spit back his standard word salad (with a side of self-righteousness) answers, but it will make it clear what the man is supporting..The disappointing thing for me is the silence of the players.
If I am the Nets I just let him keep doing interviews and making it worse for himself. Maybe he can get suspended and they save some money.
Yeah he'll find time. But Kyrie was willing to give back half of his salary for his beliefs before. If he's committed to this antisemitism, I don't think that anything Tsai has to say will change him.Nets are home today. I'm sure Tsai can find Kyrie to sit down with him. The longer he waits the more bombs Irving is going to set off.
If I recall correctly, there was solidarity between quite a few black and white players back in 2020. Rich Eisen absolutely should speak up but given who he is and the audience he reaches, its not likely to shame someone like Kyrie.I mean, yeah. It would be nice if some non-Jews were to stand up for Jews. Like all those white peoples who kneeled with Black players.
I agree, but I'm also inclined to cut them a bit of slack in this situation. The NBA might be a sport or an entertainment industry, but for the players it's closer to a family, and not a very big one at that. Even if you're right, you're going to take shit (from some) for saying it out loud among your peers. Its great that Tsai and media people are speaking out against Kyrie's stance but it would be nice if some of his peers did the same. That might actually be more meaningful than, say Rich Eisen.
Is the media going to keep asking about it? I assume they will, and - in the moment- I don't see him backing down. I'm sure it took a lot of people pushing hard to get him to even take down the post, I don't think he's going to be able to resist "fighting for his cause" when directly confronted..He must've been feeling some real heat from Tsai, corporate sponsors, the league, etc. Social media has both intellectually and morally dumbed us down so much, pulling the tweet will basically be treated as tantamount to absolution, all better now, and this probably dies quickly. I doubt he faces any real consequences for posting that sewage in the first place. Unless he's crazy and stupid enough to keep doubling down on it in other ways going forward. Which is certainly not out of the question in his case.
I think if the question is "is Kyrie crazy and stupid enough" the answers is always "yes".Unless he's crazy and stupid enough to keep doubling down on it in other ways going forward. Which is certainly not out of the question in his case.
You're probably right that he can't help himself and will keep digging the hole. I was reacting to the current general climate, where pulling an offensive tweet seems to often be a get out of jail free card. As for the media continuing to press him, I'm skeptical. It probably has another news cycle or two left, but if he somehow does let it die, they'll get bored and move on to the next thing. And he doesn't, I don't think, have the larger cultural impact and importance to keep this alive, ala Ye.I think if the question is "is Kyrie crazy and stupid enough" the answers is always "yes".
How can you be half of a religion? Wouldn't it be he's Jewish AND Muslim? For the record, Avdija is actually half Jewish and half Muslim. Not that your suggestion isn’t still totally appropriate.
