I worked with a friend of josh Byrnes in 2004 who told me that josh said that every member of the Red Sox except Varitek we’re notorious cheaters and ladies men.

Ironic for Tek but only notable that only Ocab and Lowe ever had fan rumors circulating close to their time as Red Sox.

As far as Kyrie I am hopeful that DRS and Stevens assertions of future health are correct.

This is how you know Red Sox fans are the real deal. I remember being in Newport (back from fl visiting) listening to pregame chatter about the upcoming Pats SB and someone calling EEI pretending they wanted to talk Pats to quickly change course and start going off on the guest ( forgot who) over something they had written about Nomar.

I just need the ok from the group regarding my Celtics playoff expectations..... I expect them to win the first round anyway, and if they don't I'll be disappointed, but anything after that at this point is total gravy.

Is that fair and reasonable?

Edit: gossip that doesn't have anything to do with Kyrie.

I think they are the most dangerous team in the East. Philly was that club but their recent winning streak has them as the "hot new upstart that can unseat the Cavs" from parts of the NBA punditry/blogosphere/Twitteratti.

Get Smart back and this team can torment anyone between their defense, ball movement and scheming. Would you want to face Boston in a close game with a few seconds left? They routinely get stops and somehow, they find an array of open men who then hit shots (Horford, Mook, Brown, Tatum, T-Rozay...). At this point, their lack of a focal point scorer is more of a feature than a bug. And while I expect Stevens rotations to be a bit shorter - they may reach their "nadir" today - he is essentially unlimited in terms of whom he uses and how he uses given that he really only has one "star" left in Horford. If he needs to adjust on the fly to counter something, he can pretty much pull anyone off the floor and it will generate little in the way of media controversy or, more importantly, bruised star egos.

In short, without Iriving, this team will have a hard time winning any round. However they just might get to the ECF and take that to the limit as well given the make-up of the other teams.

WTF: the best story I heard about OCab (from a guy at a beach on the Cape) was that Ocab was f'ing KFoulke's wife. And Foulke gave management a him or me ultimatum.

It may be crazy enough to be true?

Wasn't that around the same time when Foulke was "rumored" to be with that 18-year old ballgirl? Kevin Elster had nothing on that Sox team!

God I hadn’t thought of Kelly the Ball Girl in probably a decade. I think she was the one rumored to be with Foulke. The Internet never forgets.

I'm beginning to think that I've been giving Tito too much credit for his role in keeping that team loose.

So correct me if I'm wrong, but if the season ends with the current seeding, and if Boston beats the Bucks they will most likely then face the 76ers. If they beat the 76ers (which seems like a stretch at this point) they'd almost certainly face either the Cavaliers or the Raptors in the EC Finals...
This means no chance of running into LeBron prior to the EC Finals. Of course with the way the 76ers are playing I guess it's unlikely they would even make it there..

Totally on board with this take.

Yes, if the Cavs finish 4th then we'd, in theory, only have to play one of the two--Cavs or Raptors.

It's a best case scenario for a healthy Celtics team. Which we are not.

If the season ends with the current seeding, BOS plays MIL in the first round and winner of PHI-MIA in the second round.

However, if OKC beats MIA tonight, MIL will jump ahead of MIA as the 6th seed.

There is also a non-zero chance that CLE jumps ahead of PHI for the 3 seed as CLE has the tiebreaker over PHI. PHI plays ATL (who have been feisty down the stretch) and MIL for their last two games while CLE has NYK home and home.

So stay tuned.
