Yeah, Kyrie comes with enough drama to make any team hesitate on pulling the trigger under usual circumstances. The fact that he has the vaccine thing hanging over him makes him a nuclear hazard that everyone should stay away from.

Owners will always bet on talent. Especially new owners or owners of dysfunctional franchises (Minnesota, Sacramento, Houston, etc).

Does Kyrie talk to team coaching/management at all? I mean, I know star players are going to work situations to their advantage, but it seems like Kyrie won't communicate even when he is where he wants to be. Seems like the Nets have no clue what his intentions are with vaccination or anything related to it.

Thought this summed it up well:

“he is such a contrarian that if no players were willing to get vaccinated, he would refuse to play unless everyone got vaccinated”

Right. And I don't think Kyrie is going to make it easy on the them as he has no interest in leaving Brooklyn and probably couldn't care less about missing half his games. He's likely to stick with his "trade me and I retire" stance that his agent apparently has already passed on to the Nets. This is why it's likely that the only team that would be interested in him is one whose primary goal is salary relief (as if he retires they won't be responsible for his contract). In other words, if the Nets want to trade him for John Wall they probably could, if not they might have a tough time finding a trade partner...

Durant needs to give the green light to trade Kyrie. I don't see that happening.
He's already signed on the dotted line, and I doubt he has any interest in walking away from the game. Plus, John Wall is also a friend, so I think the Irving for Wall+ deal has the best chance of happening.

It would be so delicious seeing Irving sent to Houston after screwing over the Celtics and orchestrating a super team, especially over a personal conviction so ridiculous.

Yeah, it's been mentioned in a few places, and has reasonable risk and upside for all parties (assuming Kyrie would report and not retire). Durant reportedly nixed it though, so that's that.
He nixed this idea before the whole vaccine thing began though. Imagine the Nets advancing in the playoffs and Kyrie misses half of these games too? Complete circus.

I work with people like Kyrie. There is no getting through to them. Just let them be on their island and ignore them.

The nets need to wake up and dump him. Durant is signed and Harden needs a title, they'll be superficial blowback but ultimately they want to win.

I just don't believe the Kyrie has much principle behind anything he says. He likes attention, a lot. He likes being catered to, a lot. I think there is a good chance that he'll keep pushing and pushing until he can't anymore, and after he runs through whatever accommodations are made for him and still can't play at home, he'll get vaccinated. And probably spew more bullshit about all the prayer and mediation and whatever deep philosophical bullshit he wants to vomit up about why he changed his mind.

This is where I am too. His only conviction is to his own self-importance. He's digging in deeper to bring more attention to himself and to make people kiss his ass. I doubt he's going to kiss goodbye to $17M (or whatever amount it is) over this. And then he'll want to be lauded for being such a committed teammate. Puke.

I have to say - all of the people who died from COVID, God wasn't on their side? Even the children? That's pretty harsh.

At this point I'm rooting for him not to get vaccinated. I hope he dies on this hill and is more or less blacklisted by the league.
interesting choice of words (not that I'm objecting) . . . .o_O

This is correct except the end. Kyrie won't say he changed his mind, he will make himself into the martyr who was forced to get vaccinated.

I am a pretty big fan of Scal on the broadcasts, but he's an idiot on that topic. I don't think he should lose his job, but I do think he should STFU.

I doubt Kyrie is taking questions, but I'd love for someone to put it to him this way.

I do disagree with those who say he's unprincipled. He has principles to a self-righteous fault. That awful I'm such a martyr statement by Wiggins was of the same type. True believers have principles. That's the problem. So wrapped up in their own beyond science perfection that they refuse to see any shades of grey in their absolutist beliefs.

Nah he's on the George Costanza "let's get nuts" path. He won't get vax'd. He'll take the Nets out to the ass end of Long Island with no plan on how to steer out of the skid. The dude took a couple of random weeks of last season to celebrate a birthday. He's missed so many games in his career that he not going to flinch at missing all his home games. Better yet he'll get vax'd and still sit out the games to twist the knife.

Sigh...If Scal's not vaccinated, fire him. You can't do that to Gorman.
Agree 100%. Scal is very much replaceable. Of course, he may indeed be vaccinated and instead just likes plugging BS because he is simply an idiot.

I'm not a fan of Scal. Decent color commentary from time to time, but he's a massive dick to Abby with regulairty. I can't abide putting him next to Gorman with this knowledge. I had a hard enough time as it were thinking of the giant he was taking over for to begin with.

This. I don’t know why people like Scal. He sucks and he’s always a condescending asshole to Abby. I can’t stand him and would love for him to go away.

Edit. Just listened to the clip. Sounds like he (Scal) is vaxxed and just made a dumb joke. Stupid, but doesn't seem like there should be an issue with him working with Gorman.

He said "I don't believe the data" in reference to data showing that unvaccinated are dying at higher rates than the vaccinated. He even says that he believes that when vaccinated people die of COVID the hospitals intentionally label the cause of death as something other than COVID to cover up the fact that vaccinated people are
dying at similar rates to unvaccinated. How is any of that funny?

My apologies. I just heard a quick clip where he joked about getting a fake vaccination card before saying it's not worth it. Completely agree that pushing misinformation is inexcusable. I like Scal when he's with Gorman, but he's easily replaceable.

I'm here for the Nets record with/without Kyrie.

I expect their HOME record to be much better, the media to run with it & one of Harden/Durant to eventually question the Kyrie Circus
