A few interesting things from tonight's show:
- Koji wants to be a starter again
- He has no interest in coming back to Japan to pitch

And sort of off-topic (not sure if this is main board worthy, apologies in advance)
- He lives in a hotel in Boston?! He has no residence in the US (not sure if I understood that right)
- His family stays in Japan all season unless something special is going on

I thought he and his family lived in Baltimore? His son's English seemed good enough to think he was going to school here.

Per Abraham:

The Orioles traded Uehara to the Rangers in 2011. But Uehara never completely left Baltimore. His wife, Miho, and 7-year-old Kazuma live there during the season and often for a few weeks after before returning to Tokyo.
“We like the school my son goes to and he plays sports. It’s a good city,” Uehara said. “When Baltimore traded me, it was upsetting.”
Uehara stays in a hotel in Boston, checking out before every road trip. His family sometimes visits but more often he spends days off in Baltimore.

I'm just watching through it now, and he didn't actually say that in the way it comes across in that post.  He did indeed say that even now he wants to start, but then quickly followed with "but you have to look at reality, and the reality is that I probably can't."  It's not like it's something he seemed intent on pushing for, at all.

That was followed by a question about "What is something that they have in Japanese baseball that they should have in MLB?" to which Uehara replied Japanese washlet spray toilets.  Apparently there is one at Fenway (!?) but it's the only one.  The host, Nakai-kun, asks him if he has a portable washlet (no idea how that works), and he DOES.  Applies from the front rather than the back.  Such a random little exchange.

SoSH just wouldn't be as magical of a place without you, Tokyo Sox.
