Recalled? Was he ever called?
Yep. Buys time to decide on a DFA.I wonder if the shoulder inflammation is real or if it's just the Hellenic Flu. Whatever does the job I guess.
Non-zero chance that Kluber has thrown his last major league pitch.
They always use that terminology. I am surprised that was the move. I guess he is taking one for the team.Recalled? Was he ever called?
Never noticed that before. They always use that terminology. I am surprised that was the move. I guess he is taking one for the team.
He was on the 40 in spring and optioned to Worcester, so yes!Recalled? Was he ever called?
I was at the game last night. Probably derives from the violent jerking of the head motion that occurs when you give up three bombs.I wonder if the shoulder inflammation is real or if it's just the Hellenic Flu. Whatever does the job I guess.

I did not recall that. :0)He was on the 40 in spring and optioned to Worcester, so yes!

That sounds a lot better than “fork in back”I figure most pitchers have some form of shoulder inflammation at this point in the season
And then Walter can go back and they can recall Murphy, who they really seem to like as a longer reliever.Wild ass guess here, but I suspect this is temporary. Hamilton will probably be optioned again tomorrow to bring up Walter to start (or be a bulk reliever in a bullpen game). This gives them a little insurance and the ability to give Reyes a full day off to be sure he's good to go.

I have to think this is a favor to Kluber so he can show he is physically able to pitch before the season ends and not because the team intends to use him at the big league level. He makes an appearance or two in the minors, other teams can see him work post "injury," and maybe he gets a nibble or two in free agency this winter. Thanks to @JM3 for ruining my day, but Kluber is starting a rehab assignment in Portland tomorrow
Agree. If Kluber makes a big league appearance before the end of the year, it would only be if the team is mathematically eliminated. But even then, bringing him up would require a roster move. Is there anyone on the 40-man right now worth DFAing just to give Kluber a token appearance? I don't think there is.You both best be right.
Llovera? Probably another fungible reliever or two there (Weiss? Gillaspie?) But yeah, I doubt he'll be pitching on the Big Club again this year. Just that the post startled me with the possibilityIf Kluber makes a big league appearance before the end of the year, it would only be if the team is mathematically eliminated. Him getting a rehab start or two is the same as Adalberto Mondesi continuing the workout at JetBlue. It's just good player relations karma for the future.
Justin Garza & Bear Claw are on there, too.Llovera? Probably another fungible reliever or two there (Weiss? Gillaspie?) But yeah, I doubt he'll be pitching on the Big Club again this year. Just that the post startled me with the possibility
Time to burn the deadwood.Justin Garza & Bear Claw are on there, too.
