Kirk Gibson Diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease

This just bummed me out. He was always one of my favorite players. Grew up with him as a stud football player at Mich. St. Univ. and of course with the hometown Tigers.  Of course no one can forget his glory days with the Dodgers and his iconic home run.

Agreed on being bummed -- it's what killed my father, and it always saddens me to hear of a person being diagnosed, as I know what they're in for. My father was about 10 years older than Kirk is now when diagnosed, then declined for the next decade. I haven't paid too much attention into how the treatment for the disease has evolved. Then, in the 1990s, they focused on the early-onset patients for anything experimental. I doubt Kirk is considered early onset at almost 58, but he has access to great medical resources, and hopefully they can help keep his symptoms minimal.

I was disappointed when the D-Backs let him go. Hopefully he can hit a home run off this like he did off Eck.
