Suppose Atlanta wishes they had all their picks and Gallo's salary back? They probably don't win the bidding either way, but this is the guy you go all-in for.

Okay, *if* the Celtics were to make a deal, what's the offer?

Somewhere
What's funny is that Brooklyn will probably come out of this with something like Devin Booker and draft picks, which is likely a better outcome for them anyways.

He's old, prickly and just got his ass beat in the first round. I hope he gets sent to NBA purgatory, which is where he belongs because he got in bed with some of the most unreliable people in basketball.

I think he goes to Phoenix for Ayton+ (Bridges?)...you don't trade a 1st for Royce O'Neal if you're not planning to be good

I don't think the Celtics will be in since unless we add Jaylen we don't have the juice, and I don't think Brad adds Jaylen.

However..... huge trades with big salaries are a nice thing to have happening when you're a team with a couple big trade exceptions

They could still offer them D’Andre Hunter + John Collins + Okungwu

Are there BYC considerations there?

Someone---may have been Hollinger or Duncan---said that Golden State is not a completely insane trade partner. I don't think that's really viable, but it's amusing to consider.

I have a feeling that the Nets are pretty much done making any deals with the Celtics for the foreseeable future. I'll bet they've had enough.

Wow. Anywhere but Miami. I can’t handle another smug Reilly press conference. I’d prefer if he took his talents to the Western Conference.

GSW are probably the best trade partner in the league in terms of young talent they can offer, but unlikely for obvious reasons.

Realistically, there are only two or three teams that are viable trade options. And since Durant apparently just named one (Phoenix) we know where this is heading.

Phoenix, Boston, mayyybe Miami. Not sure if Memphis has the pieces. But if he wants Phoenix, that’s where he’s going.

Ayton doesn’t have to play along with this and would be hard pressed to see Bridges be the centerpiece of a Durant deal. Who else can offer up a piece as good as Jaylen?

The Suns don't have a lot of middle class as far as salaries go, kinda like Boston until rather recently. Booker and Paul, then nothing else over $10M.

I'M AN IDIOT EDIT: Ayton's RFA $$ would help. $31.5M right?

Goddamn. Nothing beats the NBA when it comes to DRAMA.

I should follow this sport way more than I do.
The best way to follow the league is during the offseason, re-engage at the trade deadline, and watch the playoffs. The vast majority of players don't seem to really care about the season, so I'm not sure why the rest of us subject ourselves to it. :drunk:

A PHX deal is almost certainly based around a maxed out Ayton and Bridges. I think the appeal to Ayton is he's getting maxed and he's going to a nice big market. Plus Kyrie might get shipped out.

Half that is outgoing, all that in incoming because of BYC

The Pierce kg nets won the same amount of playoff series as durant kyrie and the Celtics have now destroyed the Nets franchise twice.

When this was first discussed during the Kyrie stand-off, my immediate reaction was I’d easily give up Jaylen for Durant.

But Durant’s going to be 34. Say you get a year or two of prime Durant before he starts to break down or retire and you have to rebuild. Is Tatum going to want to stick around for a rebuild and extend his contract? As long as the Jays stick together, the Celtics will always be competitive.

This. This could be fantastic for us as part of a 4-team deal where Durant ends up at a place that he wants (or at least can live with) and we get a good player because we can eat. I expect that Brad has already let Marks know to keep us in mind.

If you're not at least 65, you sound it.

edit: I hope that sounded playful...

You don’t worry about the future if you can pair Tatum and Durant together. You’re gearing up for an incredible 3-4 year run where you have a good chance of winning a title.

Miami gets everyone
What assets does Miami have that would be attractive to the Nets? Their draft picks are always lousy, Lowry is washed, Herro is a sixth man, and I doubt they're moving Bam or Jimmy for KD.
