It’s going to be a nothingburger. Kobe called a ref the f word on the bench, apologized and paid his fine, and that was the end of it. Rondo called Benny Adams, who is gay, the f word during the game and got tossed. He paid his fine and that was the end of it. I don’t see how this moves the needle as far as Durant’s image.

Not the topic at hand, but Michael Rapaport is such a confusing guy. I never understand what his views are he seems all over the place. Also his twitter pic is him as 6ix9ine

I read the each of the PM’s and still trying to determine which part of Durant’s take is incorrect. Rappoport is clownshoes for taking a PM public.....but KD is a fool for putting not thinking someone like Rappoport wouldn’t.

You're probably right, but I thnk people are more predisposed to hating on Durant than Kobe. The Twitter thing and The Decision 2 weakened his image.

Don't get me wrong, I don't need anything else to be firmly on the fuck KD train, but I don't think this moves the needle for people who don't already dislike him.

Edit: that said, KD used crude, immature language but Rappaport is in fact a total clown. I don't think KD said anything that warrants outrage.

Rappaport is an asshole. He's a semi-regular celebrity caller/guest on the Howard Stern Show, and participates in their NFL fantasy league with a bunch of the staffers. He regularly leaves them all voice mails talking trash where his go-to insult is threatening to rape them, violate them, etc. I 100% believe Durant that this was how they regularly exchanged messages with one another.

Rappaport making this shit public and playing the victim is some next level bullshit. That said, Durant should have known better and the language he used shouldn't be excused just because Rappaport went public with what he thought was a private conversation.

While I cannot condone what KD said, the reality is that everyone on this planet has said stuff in private that we would not want to make public. Rappaport is a replacement level asshole; nothing more.

They’re both dipshits who love to play the victim no matter what.
Rappoport’s a jackass who only posted parts, the parts that make him look like an innocent bystander of a private conversation.
Kevin Durant got so triggered by a clown hot take artist (seriously this is Rappaport’s schtick. No one takes him seriously. He says much worst stuff to the Stern staff in their fantasy football league and none of them bat an eye) that he went onto Twitter to seek him out and insult the mans wife (not to mention make a bunch of pretty vile homphobic remarks).
It’s ridiculous and they both look like fools

I disagree in that an nba superstar bothered to attack a d list actor about a comment, and not only did that used offensive terms.

it's not a big deal, but I think much less of KD. What a baby.
Some of these famous people are board just like regular folks.

Is this Rappaport's revenge for Durant not signing with the Knicks? He seems like he would be this petty. Although Durant isn't innocent in this. He should know to act like a big boy when in public.

Why the fuck is Kevin Durant communicating with Michael Rappaport? Is he a big Zebrahead fan or something?
Kevin Durant is above all a thin skinned clown who is more than willing to get into twitter fights with random fans, of course he's in Rappaport's DMs.
Kevin Durant is a great basketball player, he seems like a miserable person.

I hate Kevin Durant and kind of enjoy seeing him get embarrassed, but I don't love the idea of guys getting significant discipline over words expressed in a private message that the other party took public.

I think the NBA had no choice. You can't be a giant entertainment company and have one of your biggest stars using that kind of language, even in private. $50k is a slap on the wrist and it allows them to say they don't tolerate that kind of language, even if I imagine that kind of language is pretty frequent in NBA settings.

I think the union will appeal, but I'm fine with it for 2 reasons:
1. The league doesn't care how it became public, you said it and it embarrasses the league, the league rules don't require it to be made publicly.
2. They stripped an owner of his team for being a dirtbag, but the key part was private conversations that became public.
