In a world where Roger Goodell and Gary Bettman are your competition for worst commissioner, being a runaway winner is quite an achievement for Manfred.

The best part of the "apology" was that he only went out for a picture with the trophy when he thought there would only be a few people on the field. That makes the whole statement BS since if that was actually a concern he would have turned around and waited when he saw a hundred people on the field.

Not just exonerated but Manfred actively “applauded” him. Would be hilarious if it wasn’t so depressing.

Edit: combining this with the Astros thing it seems quite obvious that Manfred is petrified of the players’ union. And that he doesn’t give a shit about Covid but that was a given.

If you told me that Manfred's ultimate goal, the singular purpose for his every action and statement, is to make sure I never watch another baseball game again, I would not be surprised.

So Turner receives no punishment. Whoever caused the outbreaks with the Marlins and Cardinals (and it would be naive to think those weren't caused by players breaking protocol) were never identified or punished (they didn't even miss games since they were canceled). The only two players who were ever punished for wrongdoing never even had COVID-19, but were banished for a couple of weeks because it was left up to their teammates. GJGE MLB.

Meanwhile, case numbers are exploding and hospitalizations are up. Way to set expectations and show leadership, MLB. Assholes.

Manfred is [...] shit [...] but that was a given.
Took out the unnecessary stuff.

If you told me that Manfred's ultimate goal, the singular purpose for his every action and statement, is to make sure I never watch another baseball game again, I would not be surprised.
If you re-wrote that as "is to destroy the game of Baseball," I would say that would be more accurate.

Manfred is terrible - for Baseball, and apparently for life as well.
