I found it especially funny because earlier in the pod he said something along the lines of Tom Hanks's character lacks the trait that makes you an adult, self awareness.
I don't understand why he does this. It's like belonging to a book club in which the host says to show up and then they'll announce which book will be discussed that evening.
It is an on-demand podcast. You can see what just dropped and then find the movie to watch before you listen if you prefer that.
I did not care for this one at all. Far too much nit picking, time spent talking about "Elizabeth Perkins: statutory rapist" and how everyone's lives going forward are broken. Which I guess was inevitable given the people involved.
While it would be strong in a few categories, some just wouldn't apply due to the parody nature of the movie. I agree though, it would be great to hear just because Airplane always makes me smile when quoting scenes. Bill would have fun because of how he cracks Kareem for his dry attitude on the court, and how it contrasts with this appearance.

I agree; this is one of the few movies I haven't even heard of. They spend the first chunk of the pod explaining how this was apparently on all the time at one point in the '90s, so it's squarely a "one for us" movie they do sometimes. Based on the pod thus far, it seems like everyone hated it at the time except BS, this then-roommate, and CR.
I haven't seen the remake, but I enjoyed the original.
Which ones? I haven't seen the vanishing but I've personally been pretty happy with the movie choices, many of which (Deliverance, Blow Out) are classics
Oh sure, Deliverance is a classic, but that's not something I actively enjoy 'rewatching.' As for others of late - The Vanishing, Alive, Sideways (good movie, but not even remotely Payne's best), Body Heat, Cruising, American Gigolo, The Edge. None of those do anything for me really, maybe Gigolo can be considered something you'd rewatch, but the others?
Depends what you like I guess--I'd rather watch most of those than the rocky/karate kid/fast and the furious/rambo movies that are so big on the show.
It might be better for the ones i don't like. If I'm going to spend two hours watching a movie I want it to be something good--e.g. not tango and cash--but for an hour long podcast to listen to doing the dishes or folding laundry a really stupid movie is perfect for those guys to good one (e.g., Tango and Cash---an all time great rewatchable)
Maybe they will finally prompt me to actually watch that movie, which I've resisted for 19 years of living in Seattle. Mostly because of how nauseating it is to hear people make bad puns on the title.
I mostly want to watch to see where they shot in Seattle. Though even there... Oh hey, the Dahlia! Probably seemed cooler 30 years ago (although I like it just fine anyway).

Actually, I think Sweeney gets the Jennifer Garner role. Adams is more a Zoey Deutch type.
Yeah, but the Garner role is only like 4 minutes. With Adams you get the entire last half of the movie. More time for the jigglin'.
Well, eventually, the show is bound to outlive it's premise. The re-watchability of the movies they review is going to be ever decreasing. Just enjoy it for what it is - a podcast about movies.
This movie is legitimately rewatchable. Through its runs on HBO and TNT, I've easily seen it ten or more times. The swath Leo cuts in this (Ellen Pompeo, Jennifer Garner, Elizabeth Banks, and Amy Adams among them) is about as impressive as whatever he's done in real life. And at the center of it is a story about a young man who is really just seeking the family he lost when his parents' marriage broke up. Great flick.
Nobody. Amy Adams is perfect in this role, it should not be recast.
ScarJo is almost 40. She's aged past the point of playing a character that naive.
Amy Adams should never be recast out of a role. She is amazing. Although ScarJo is pretty great herself (loved JoJo Rabbit, although not sure of the accent). Haven't watched Catch Me If You Can in a while, so will be re-watching before listening.
