Stephen Strasburg back to the IL yet again after just one start. He signed a massive 7/245 deal after WAS won it all in 2019 and has barely pitched since (31 innings of a 6.89 ERA in 2020-22 combined).

Kody Clemens, Roger's son, is having a rough first go at the major leagues: 2 for 26, .077/.143/.077.

He did get to pitch an inning in a blowout, however. And he's now got his own B-Ref entry.

Nice gesture; although he has made $102 million in his career, so feel like he’d be OK either way.
It's not only a great gesture to an individual player, but it's a smart move from a business standpoint. Free agents aren't going to seek out employment from a team that they feel will disrespect them and while this particular act may not be remembered, cutting Cain loose short of his 10 years might be.

That could be a really nice value for Seattle… let someone else deal with Santana's first two months of the season, when he's always been terrible, and pick him up after he's started to hit. They have multiple holes to plug in the lineup, and even at his worst, Santana maintains a healthy OBP with all the walks.

MLB came down relatively hard on the Angels and Mariners for the brawl the other night. Seven players with suspensions (4 Angels, 3 Mariners) and five coaches/staff, all from the Angels including a 10-game ban for Phil Nevin.

Is that the first suspension for an interpreter in MLB history?

The interpreter should get a huge suspension just based on the fact that there is literally no reason for him to get involved. Instead he gets the same as Julio.

Nevin should have gotten 50. Apparently he was yelling that it was coming the night before.

True, violence is a universal language.

I hate it when Jansen's heart stuff comes up, that guy's been through a ton.
When he blew the save vs the Dodgers the other night I noticed him take a quick break on the side of the mound. I thought something seemed off. I wonder if he was feeling it right there.

Does this break some kind of fiduciary duty?
Does he break a fiduciary duty if he does not tell Freeman the Braves made a better offer since it's still not higher than the what the Dodgers were offering? I mean, absent some instructions like Varitek telling Boras he wanted to remain in Boston, agents are doing what is best for the player when they get them the maximum amount possible.

Of course, Freeman does have a right to fire their ass if he would have taken less money to stay in Atlanta.

Of course we don't know anything here for certain, but reports are saying that Freeman preferred to stay in ATL and that the final ATL offer might have been larger than the LAD one after deferrals and factoring in the higher state/local taxes.

If that is the case someone should be looking into that.

Narrator: "Nobody will be looking into that".

And he's hitting .221 this year. Soto is an interesting player; he's incredibly gifted but I'd argue he is almost too patient at the plate.

His BABIP this year is .227. His next lowest season BABIP figure is .312. He has been a bit unlucky this season.
