He threw up his arms like he was granted time by the umpire, but he wasn't actually given time and Porcello was called for the balk when he stepped off.
No. He threw up his arms asking for time, and Procello stepped off with the wrong foot before the ump granted it. That's not on Vazquez at all.

I didn't see it as asking for time. When a catcher asks for time, he holds his arms straight up. Vasquez lifted them halfway and fluttered his hands, as though he were signalling for Porcello to regroup

Wll I guess you can't be good every year but some really interesting decisions to be made re: Mookie and JD. Neither are showing they deserve a $25 plus million contract which is what their agent s are going to be demanding. JD will opt out for sure cause he is not getting a raise.

Eck questioning when Porcello ever walks at least 3 guys in a game. He's done it 4 times this year already before today.

Either way, Porcello made a mistake every 13 year old learns the first time he has to step off.
